Triumph Tiger 1050 2011 model Used Bike Review in 2025 (80)
Triumph Tiger 1050 2011 model used bike review in 2025
After receiving a request from a viewer in the USA asking me to find him a motorcycle that fit his criteria, I did some research. He wanted something that was fast, something that he could go touring on, something that he could also use to commute to and from work, but with a limited budget. How much did he want to spend? Well I will disclose that during the video.
This was no easy task as his budget was very low, however, as I also mention in the video I think I found the bargain of the century. We have a good close look at this 2011 model Triumph Tiger, and to my surprise (not that it would be to owners of the 1050) this is a very very good motorcycle. I hope you enjoy the video, if you do please give it the thumbs up and consider subscribing to the channel and feel free to leave a comment in the comment section.
Thanks for watching.

Honda Goldwing - 5 Myths busted ! (79)
มุมมอง 15K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
Hi, thanks for tuning in to Stand-up Moto. In this video I want to squash a few of the myths surrounding this wonderful motorcycle, in my 2 1/2 years of owning a Honda Goldwing I have encountered some comments from people (99% being complimentary) that just don’t understand the Goldwing. These motorcycles are arguably the best touring bike ever made, and yet they are so much more than that...
Honda Transalp 750 review 2024-Best upper middleweight dual purpose adventure bike? (78)
มุมมอง 41K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
Honda Transalp 750. Is this the best dual purpose middleweight adventure bike of the Japanese offerings? That’s what I try to determine in this video. The other two offerings from the land of the rising sun are the Yamaha Tenere 700 and the Suzuki 800. Both good motorcycles in their own right, but where does the Transalp fit into this trio? I hope you enjoy my take on the Honda and please feel ...
CFMoto 650MT review 2024 Unbeatable value! But is it a good motorcycle? (76)
มุมมอง 15K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video I look at the CF Moto 650 MT, I must say that I have had nothing to do with this brand in the past. As I mentioned in the video I have been getting around with blinkers on, this is a very well put together package, at what I believe is an affordable price compared to many others in its class. If you have not heard of CF Moto in the past then you are not alone, but once upon a time...
BMW R18 Classic review 2024 Wow! this is certainly not a generic cruiser! (75)
มุมมอง 30K7 หลายเดือนก่อน
BMW R18 This is my review of this heavyweight cruiser, at first I wasn’t sure. But soon realised this bike is like no other cruiser available, the massive 1800 cc boxer twin has a character all of its own. In a word it is brilliant, the build quality of this motorcycle is second to none. Something else that really surprised me was the ease of doing your own maintenance, not really something we ...
BMW CE04 Fully electric REVIEW 2024 Expensive but great! (read description first) @standupmoto(74)
มุมมอง 17K9 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is my review of the all electric offering from BMW. As a full-on petrol head, I was certainly not expecting to be almost overwhelmed with the performance breaking and manoeuvrability of this top-shelf scooter. Does the CEO4 warrant the price tag? Have a look at my review and let me know what you think. Also in this video I have a bit of fun with the regenerative braking side of things, ple...
Yamaha XVZ 1300 V4 Classic collectable metric cruiser review (72) @standupmoto

Yamaha Royal Star XVZ1300A. This video was inspired by one of my viewers who noticed this bike in the background of one of my motorcycle reviews and asked me to do a review on it. The bike I am showing here is a 1996 model. Older Japanese classic motorcycles are becoming very collectable. This bike is unique in that it has a detuned version of Yamaha’s famous VMax motor. Honda CTX 700 Used bike review way way better than I expected (71) @Stand up Moto

Honda's CTX700 is a great middleweight cruiser with exceptional fuel economy and of a manageable size, if your current motorcycle is starting to get a little bit heavy this may be for you. Or maybe you are looking to upsize from a smaller capacity machine but don't want to enter the more expensive heavy cruisers. Hopefully I have covered the questions you may have in relation to this motorcycle...

Best bike reviewer on YT bar none.
Thanks mate 👍
Dct or manual? best mpg?
I haven’t done the direct comparison but seeing as the DCT is direct engagement like the manual clutch (as in no torque converter) I’d say they’d be pretty similar, great question 👍
Great review, I have a red 2013 1050 se , absolutely love mine..
They're great bikes 👍
I drive a Z4 E89 and I see a lot of similarities: The 6 cilinders, daytime running lights, Xenon and even the sound of the engine! Nice video, thanks!
Thanks for sharing, I wouldn’t doubt there’s a few comments that get shared also.
My first knowledge of the Honda Good Wing was back in 1975, when they were introduced to Australia, I was impressed but couldn’t afford to upgrade from my CB750 at the time. Not long after that, a riding mate bought a beautiful red one……very jealous indeed. In 1993 I was fortunate be able to travel to the USA for around 6 weeks and had access to a BMW K100RT and covered around 8000K’s in the Western States with Wife on the pillion seat. The Beemer did a good job overall, however, I came across a few people travelling around on Honda GL1500’s some towing trailers and all with pillions aboard. I couldn’t believe the pace that were making on the curvy mountain roads in North California and Oregon, timeI was very impressed. Anyway time and a couple of motorcycles later in 1999, I was in a position to purchase a new GL1500 Aspencade in black. What a revelation. Naturally, I changed horses again after a few years as I like to experience various Motorcycles, I finally bought a new 2010 GL1800……another revelation. However I did go back to a 1995 GL1500 for a while, I think that 1500 was the epitome of what a Gold Wing was supposed to be. I continued chopping and changing to maximise my motorcycling experiences and enjoyed doing so. However I did, here I am in my 70’s and still keen to ride, just not as often or as far, But the itch returned for another ‘Wing, so now about to pick up a nice lowish K’s 2005 GL1800 in Candy Apple Red…….it will almost certainly be my last, but I propse to enjoy the hell out of it for as long as possible. 👍😎
I must ask who makes that pair of gloves.
Hi, they come from a company called ‘’Fogy Garage’’ and yes only one G in Fogy. If you google them it’ll come up. They are crazy comfortable but with the Kevlar lining & hard knuckle protection. Tell them you saw them on the channel and they might offer you a discount. I wear them a lot when filming as they still work on the touchscreen. Cheers
Wow you got me super excited... l am getting a 2017 K1600 GT next week. Mine does not have the Radio fitted, but that is not a big deal with in helmet bluetooth speakers. I am super impressed with your dirt road skills and it also made me worry a little less for when l encounter dirt roads here in South Africa. I had 2 GSA's but l was looking for something more comfortable for my wife and l to ride weekends. Thanks for your detailed review. BMW should sponsor you!
I'm glad the review helped you feel a bit more confident about those South African dirt roads. Just remember it’s only has a small front wheel, it’ll want to plough if you let it. In other words let the rear turn it with working the clutch & throttle to get a bit of wheel spin, but for just general riding two up take it slowly and steady it’ll be fine. My wife & I have done plenty of dirt road riding on the GT, we just slow down a bit & get there in one piece. Enjoy your new ride, you’ll love it. ps - still waiting for that call from BMW!
Great review. A joy to watch. I'm a pom & I live in Gloucestershire. I lived down under for 18 years & geez I miss the place. Anyway I sought out the nearest RE dealer for a test ride here when these came out. Turned out to be at Watsonian Squire workshops at an old WW2 RAF airfield. Nissen huts the works. They invited me in for a look at the Zeppelins under construction. Hand built in a workshop no bigger than your average Aussie double garage. Bloody Ripper! as the expression goes.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video & great to hear from the motherland. Nissen huts! Haven’t heard that name in many years, there’s still a few kicking around as holiday homes along the Murray river as weekenders. Hope to spend a bit of time touring in the UK during your summer, I’m a bit soft nowadays when it comes to cold weather 👍
having enjoy a number of GL's with few issues, my biggest fear was the ease at which I could 'nod off" momentarily, which certainly produces a "pucker factor" reaction. They are so smooth , comfortable & totally reliable !
Totally understandable! They are very smooth.
Any heating issues ?
No mate, none at all. I will add the review was not done in summer though.
Love my F6B… this is by far the Best GL platform.. even the crash bars are perfect…! The Tour included
Yes the F6B looks great, haven’t owned one but have been lucky enough to spend some time on one 👍

Hello, the GL12 a wonderful bike 👍
great review mate.
Cheers, glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome thank you. I’m a newbie and have been trying to decide between the new 450 and this 411 and youve pretty much given me all the info I needed to know that it’s the 411 that will tickle my fancy more.
I think you'll enjoy it! The 411 is a nice ride & a bit less expensive also.
Great video. Love my 2018 DCT. I usually get ~60mpg (US) on mine but I ride around 70 mph on the highway most of the time. The thing that surprised me most on your video was the fuel cost!!! I thought California was expensive at $5/gal, SEVEN dollars per gallon there!?
Thanks for watching! Yes, fuel is quite expensive here! Sadly we don’t get the DCT here in Aus, just did a quick check- fuel at the moment is $6.75 AUD gal. That’s $1.80 per litre x 3.75 to make 1 US gal, $6.75 AUD to USD = 4.26 USD per gal. So I guess it’s pretty similar now but we’ve been told it’s soon to go up and to expect by a long way. It’s making the prospect of owning the NC look pretty good 👍
Love the way you chuck the bike around in the dirt.
It was fun to get it off-road for a bit.👍
Nice idea employing your daughter for the myth busting. Good vid. Would love a Gold Wing one day.
Thanks for watching! I hope you get to ride one someday.
Have the 2016 in manual. Love it.
Great bike! 👍
Great review! thank you from Gibraltar
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it and great to hear from Gibraltar 👍
We need this in the US! I have a large displacement street bike but want a capable, fun small bike that can handle gravel and double track for the weekend.
I hear ya! 👍
I have ridden my GL1800 on many a curvy road here in the states ,,, West Virginia country twisties , the “Tail of the Dragon “ in Tennessee, Beartooth Pass in Montana, etc,, the bike will do pretty much whatever you ask of it ! 😉👍🇺🇸
That’s awesome, glad to hear it handles so well. 👍
Great review of a forgotten gem mate 👍. I love your thoroughness and penchant for older or peculiar bikes, and this gives your change a breadth and depth I don’t get from other bike channels. Some suggestions for future videos: 2014ish Triumph Tiger XC (a worthy 3/4 version of the Tiger 1050?), early 00’s Transalp 650 (forgotten gem?), Moto Guzzi Stelvio (Italian rival to the Super Tenere you reviewed?). Clearly I’ve had too many beers while watching your excellent channel. Enjoy your bikes in good health 👍
Cheers for the great suggestions, I'll add them to the list! The Stelvio or the V85TT? Anyhow thanks mate glad you enjoy my take on doing reviews, also I know where I may be able to get hold of one of the old XL600V TA’s. See what I can do 👍
@@standupmotoI meant the old Stelvio but the V85TT is also a great choice. Some BMW guys say it is very similar to the original R80 GS which is high praise indeed. Keep up the great work 👍
@ Got ya, I’ll keep my eyes out for one 👍
Thanks giving what few do,, giving the HP. ,51
You are welcome, it's always good to have that information available for viewers.
you have been the only one ever met stating that bike as a light one :)
Yes I tend to do that mainly because of my other bikes, Goldwing, and BMW K1600. These are heavy machines and everything else seems light in comparison, I guess it depends on what you’re comparing it with. I’ll try to remember that next time, thanks for the feedback 👍
@@standupmoto Don't mind...watching you handling the bike makes me believing you 100% :) What I could experience is, that the balance point of the bike is rather high. The orginal stock handle bar quit narrow. The bike tends to be a tilting candidate in some situations. I meanwhile replaced it by a superbike handle bar. Together with a new set of progressive front springs (is it the right translation?) I meanwhile found the handling a way better, and weight not a big factor any longer. I like your review. I got a 25 years old sevenfifty in a brilliant shape. And I love it.
@ Thank you for the kind words, yes translation is excellent. The front spring upgrade is an excellent idea, it certainly makes it handle better and reduces front dive under heavy braking. Look after your beautiful bike , they are becoming quite rare.
A few days ago I found a bag that was almost the same design as my dream bag, but the price blew my mind. I have a soul resonance with kislux . It taught me that beauty doesnât have to be expensive, it just has to be right.
That's interesting! I'm glad you've found something you love.
What an awesome review. The best, hands down. Thanks!
Glad you liked it, thanks for watching!

2005 Candy Red 30th anniversary edition here. My everyday driver. Have not driven a car to work in a long time. Southern California weather... similar torque numbers as my VMAX 1700 and almost 2X the horsepower of my Fatboy Evo.

Nice motorbike
Thanks ✌️
I had a 2009. Wonder bike!
Yes must agree, have enjoyed every minute of reviewing this bike.👍
Here in US R18 didnt sell well hence many under 5k miles selling 10-12k in pristine condition.Great for me its a bargain at this prices.
That's a great deal for those looking for an exceptional cruiser, especially if you can find one in pristine condition.👍
@standupmoto I think Americans prefer VTwin configuration more and legs up front stretched and why boxer engine with mid controls didn't resonate well here.I do prefer mid controls myself and do love BMWR18
@ Yes I get that for sure & being the home of HD, one of my machines is a Vfour cruiser (Yamaha) and I love riding it. Only problem I find is with bad roads & an all day ride I’ll have a sore back the next day, probably due to a couple of things-the arched riding position with the forward controls and I’m not getting any younger. The old back isn’t as tolerant as it used to be, I didn’t find the back thing an issue on the big Beemer because I tended to sit more upright. I do see the used prices here in AUS and get tempted.👍
Good review However Living in the Tampa area Florida I did some price checking and from 2009 to 2015 price ranges from 4500 to 6500 so they are certainly not an affordable alternative for me - and I’ve been looking hard as I just sold my Interceptor which I hated- I’ve been on many bikes big to small from 1962 - and will probably go back to a Vstrom 650 Regards from Florida 🦩🦩🦩
Hi John, Yeah you can’t go wrong with the VStrom, they are a great mount. Reliable, fuel efficient & a nice ride. When I was looking at prices of the Tiger I was only looking at high mileage units in order to keep the price down. Lower mileage ones are still up there price wise, thanks for the comment & nice to hear from Florida 👍
Nice review, 150k kilometers isn't nothing though, how many more do you reckon you could get from the bike if maintained correctly? I took a look on bikesales and it seems that for roughly about twice what you paid you could get one with maybe half the number of kilometers on the clock. It'd be a tough decision for me as to which way to go.
Yes agreed, lower mileage units are a lot more $$$. Dealerships tend to not carry the high mileage stuff so private is the way to go if you’re looking for a bargain. This bike certainly doesn’t reflect the amount of KMS it’s done but it does have a good service history. One thing for sure I’d say is if you picked up a low mileage unit you’d have many years of trouble free riding based on what I’ve experienced with this one. I guess it all comes down to what you’re willing to pay and of course if you can find one privately that’s been looked after if you go for the cheaper alternative.
@@standupmoto Yes, some good deals available on bikesales, for all sorts of bike, right now. I think my next bike purchase will be second hand. I reckon a brand new ~$15k bike depreciates by about a third in the first year.
@ Tony I couldn’t agree more, there are some great used bike deals out there at the moment. And of course every time a new model comes out those that are cashed up trade up on the new model, I love used bikes and adventure bikes, I tend to find buying secondhand a lot of of the accessories that I would have to purchase myself I already fitted. Good luck with your hunting, and don’t be afraid to buy interstate after doing the appropriate checks. There are some really good transport mobs around and it doesn’t really add that much to the cost for the right bike. Cheers.
Awesome review, fantastic video and yes the Tiger is great value 👍
Glad you liked it, thanks for watching! 👍
Hi is the quick shifter still smooth when bike gets hot ? Standing up on bike is quick shifter easy to use? Cheers good concise clear voice .

@@standupmoto You're welcome. Liked and subscribed!
Loved video but do you really recommend UTC in calls? I dont think you used UTC in the example?
Hi Gordon, glad you liked the video. Yes I do recommend UTC at the appropriate time ,I don’t think I did any ten mile inbound where I would use it in this video. By using it there can be no mistakes for other aircraft not sure about your ETA. I know some pilots use the ten minute / five minute calls but I’ve stuck with what I was taught back in the late eighties, in fact my instructor would mark me down if I didn’t check that the aircraft UTC clock was checked for accuracy during my preflight. I think if you get into the habit of using UTC from the get go you won’t even have to think twice about it if ever you’re flying into controlled areas where it is mandatory. It’s a while since I put this video up, I’ll have to check . 👍
Dear Honda, You should reconsider the airfilter location under the gas tank for the next update and, for God's sake, even as an option, offer cruise control.
There is no doubt that cruise control would make for a more comfortable ride.
Top class review. Especially riding on dirt. Savage experience!!! 💪🙏🏍️
Cheers mate, thanks 👍

Hi Steve, I have started watching your series on the Jabiru, and really like your approach. Just wondering if you are still flying and instructing. In a previous life if flew out of Goolwa and after 25 years coming back into light sports flying at Aldinga. Murray Bridge is closure to me and the Jabiru looks like a great aircraft and is affordable. Hope to hear from you. Cheers Peter
Gday Pete, yes still in the air but not as frequently as I would like. I started my flying there at the back of Goolwa airfield back in 87, lots of restrictions back then for what we called ultralights in those days compared to now. We had to fly corridors, height restrictions, passenger restrictions etc etc. Now is a great time to be flying, have a chat to Mike Chapman there at Aldinga flying school (I think he’s there Mondays & Tuesdays) he also runs a flying school at Murray Bridge and uses Jabirus. Great to hear from you and thanks for touching base, cheers.
@ thanks Steve, I will chase up Mike and see what happens. I have been watching your 10 part series, but can’t find a few episodes on you tube. Do you have a link that I could use. Cheers
@ Hi Pete, mmmm you’ve got me bushed there, I’ll hop in to my TH-cam app & have a look. Usually if you just go to my channel, click on videos on the top line all of them come up. In saying that computers are let’s say not my forté. Regards Steve.
Great review, thank you!
Thanks for watching! 👍
The Honda engineers did a great job, by making a bike that when dumped, a 130 pound woman can pick it back up again and it weighs about 900 pounds.
It’s a bit of a feat, but I believe they’ve made it as manageable as possible. 👍
These motorcycles are great to lay down and remove the rear wheel..!!🤙
@@mikekosar6135 Yes agreed, that’s something I should have mentioned also 👍
