Living in Sudbury Massachusetts - WHAT TO KNOW
Sudbury, Massachusetts a historic suburb out west surrounded by a bunch of other wealthy parts of the “metro-west” of Boston which is basically this cluster of suburbs between Boston Worcester in Middlesex county. Here in Sudbury we have great schools but high taxes and high prices. That goes for Sudbury, Wayland, Weston, Wellesley. They’re very similar in that sense and they’re all next to each other and they are not cheap places to live. Sudbury is a quiet suburban, somewhat rural town with these woodsy colonial style neighborhoods. Sudbury has that New England town charm with a ton of history. Historic landmarks and significant sites that date back to colonial times throughout Sudbury and the towns near it. So if you are interested in American history there are a lot of these very significant sites all throughout the historic parts of these suburbs.

Great job! I've lived here for I've lived here for 20 years, all on the northern side of route 9. Well South Brookline has the huge 20 million homes there were also plenty of side streets scattered around the northern half just off of Beacon that have multimillion dollar mansions (e.g. Evans Road, I y Street, Beech Street, Chatham Street, etc.). When I first got my own place in Brookline I was 23 and renting a studio apartment on Beacon Street. It was very odd to me that I could leave my little studio apartment which was always noisy from all the traffic and the T was in down Beacon Street and walk for about 1 minute and be in front of mansions. It's a crazy mix to find young professionals just out of college with close to no money to their name to our neighbors with multimillionaires, but that is life in Brookline.

Agree. And 2 years later, some of these things are worse: parking, traffic. Drivers are horrible, always going too fast, always in a hurry. Cost of living now quite a bit worse (more expensive). Weather for last 2 winters have not been so bad (in the city) hardly any snow compared to 2013 and 2015

Mission hill use to be a blue collar neighborhood - zero student housing or frats. It was quiet. Then rents started going sky high in the 80s and the working people who could afford the rent on a flat were forced out. The current rents of $3,000-$5,000 monthly are by no means cheap and is why it takes several students to rent a flat. Not "fun" for all those who have been displaced by the runaway housing costs in America

I hope to leave Boston, Massachusetts next year if GOD willing. I was born and raised in South Boston. We affectionately refer to the town as “ Southie.” I am tired of Democrats. I am tired of all their failed policies. I would love to find a neighborhood where the residents proudly fly the American flag. I would love to find a neighborhood where people are patriotic and religious. I want to find a neighborhood that would give a Democrat nightmares where people have a Bible in one hand and a gun in the other. I am done with Massachusetts. I do not want to burn with the Democrats in their own failed policies. I have a house for sale, but it will cost you $750,000. Hopefully next year.

We can tell you’re not even from Boston because you keep referring to THE South End as just South End… it’s THE South End! And it wasn’t that long ago that Southie natives woulda been pissed off at an out of town guy breaking down and analyzing the neighborhood. And he calls Southie “ quaint” uhhh ok sure, I guess, as long as you don’t get into one of their frequent neighborhood gang brawls or run afoul of the Irish organized crime groups….. quaint 👌

The "Helicopters" one will hear in Mission Hill, are actually called "ghetto birds". Mission Hill was the place to live in the 1980s-1990s if you were an art student; a punk; or a 'minority' coming from an entire family that had lived in Mission Hill for generations- that is, until 1999 when the scumbag landlords decided to up all the rents and gentrify the neighborhood -to make way for all the kids who did not go to work every day for a living. Now-now Mission Hill is a 'safe' place to live - if you are a sheltered college kid who's never known a day's hunger. Mission Hill (simply "Mission Hill"; "The Hill" moniker is actually used in reference to Beacon Hill.), was the cheapest place in Boston to live. Now, it is like "the new South End"...which is a complete polarity to Roxbury Crossing and anything anyone who is actually from Boston and who could tell you about Mission Hill.

@"Living Boston": Try getting off of your cell phones and try to start a conversation with someone. One big 'downside' of living in Boston: kids' parents from fly-over states footing the bill for their brats to live in higher-end buildings-- where the adults live, who are trying to get away from the college atmosphere. Unfortunately. Most said, "Brats" have wealthy parents.

Living in the South, but visiting Boston a lot, I would say that Southern people who are strangers are easier to talk to. You can go to the checkout line in the South and think some lady talking to the checkout girl must be her mom, when in fact they don't know each other at all. But its important to note that this "friendliness" is somewhat skin deep. It does not mean Southerners are more prone to loan you money, for example, or have more compassion for the poor, or are less likely to "hit and run" in an accident. I enjoy the Southern way, but I also enjoy the Boston way. The advantage of the Boston way is that at least I get a better impression of where a person stands. In the South, I can have a co-worker who I think likes me when he is actually dissing me to other workers. Again, the friendliness is almost an act, a lot of the time.

The 1st part made me miss it, but as a native Western Masshole I left the Commonwealth 10 years ago, because of the policies of the left-wing nuts extremists and moved to the MidWest for work and cheaper cost of living. And many parts of Mass are ghetto trashy, the College indoctrinated think they are "progressive" but nothing has progressed, if anything it is still , bordered up, run down, "old New England style". DON'T MOVE HERE and watch out for the needles and crack heads.
