Boston "local" drivers tend to be both offensive and defensive drivers. If you grew up in Mass. And took Drivers Ed to comply and reduce your insurance rates when young. You know how to drive and drive well. Newbies and the tourist are the crap drivers but that being said Mass. Is way easier to drive in than Honolulu or Miami or LA so quit yer kvetching! There are way fewer accidents than in many other cities. Bostonian drive the way we think, frearlessly! Living in the South, but visiting Boston a lot, I would say that Southern people who are strangers are easier to talk to. You can go to the checkout line in the South and think some lady talking to the checkout girl must be her mom, when in fact they don't know each other at all. But its important to note that this "friendliness" is somewhat skin deep. It does not mean Southerners are more prone to loan you money, for example, or have more compassion for the poor, or are less likely to "hit and run" in an accident. I enjoy the Southern way, but I also enjoy the Boston way. The advantage of the Boston way is that at least I get a better impression of where a person stands. In the South, I can have a co-worker who I think likes me when he is actually dissing me to other workers. Again, the friendliness is almost an act, a lot of the time.

The MassHole term is really a thing from Maine regarding tourists from Mass - even though many of them were from New York and the "Massholes" contribute a lot to Maine's economy. if the temperature in the 20's F is not too cold for you should be OK, which is a normal temperature in the winter months. It was much colder and snowier fifty years ago but last winter there was almost no snow. I can certainly agree with a lot of the points made in this video. To be honest, I was in shock that Chicago is significantly cheaper than Boston. Additionally, the nightlife seems a bit better for singles in Chicago but other than that I think Boston is the better city, especially if you work in the tech sector like myself. A reason as to "why" so many people have been leaving Boston since 2000, is because of the greedy real estate market. Where suddenly your rent triples because some kid "needs-to" find off-campus housing and the landlords+ KNOW that the parents of these temporary lodgers from fly-over states are willing to pay whatever the landlords' demand. Hence, whole communities are displaced to coddle a bunch of brats and their greedy landlords.
But then you get into living in the West End - trying to escape the students and all the immature BS that comes with them and their antics. Only to pay $5K per month in rent, then to have-to deal with the kids who unfortunately have wealthy parents.

Definitely better than Chicago, Minneapolis, etc. However we get more snow and the city of Boston is not built for cars, let alone snow. Its an absolute mess. Your winters are far colder.

@"Living Boston": Try getting off of your cell phones and try to start a conversation with someone.
One big 'downside' of living in Boston: kids' parents from fly-over states footing the bill for their brats to live in higher-end buildings-- where the adults live, who are trying to get away from the college atmosphere.
Unfortunately. Most said, "Brats" have wealthy parents.

I was born in Cambridge and lived in Somerville until I was five. My family then moved to New Hampshire. Not only Boston, but the entire state of Massachusetts sucks. NH used to be nice but it's starting to suck now too because of the Massholes that have moved here. if we could afford it we'd move to Florida. F--- Massachuetts.

Hahahaha! I am from Manchester... the massholes have ruined everything. But they are too scared of the hicks to the north so there is still a temporary escape.

@@LivingBoston To answer your question, talking about massholes is accurate, but should be half as long as it was very repetitive. There are rude people, but there are nice people, but there are rude people, but there are nice people... it was a few times of this.
