    i'll never let this anime be forgotten on a personal level. So long as the internet exists, i will always find a way to come back to this anime, i'll forever love it and the significant lessons it's taught me over the years. Even when you keep coming back, as you grow older, each rewatch will give you something to take and implement into your own life. I'll forever love this anime 🌻💖

    I grew up with Champloo and to this day still my fav anime. I watched it premiere back in 2005 on Adult Swim and from the 1st time I was hooked. The music from Nujabes (RIP Jun) is unmatched with those lofi sounds accommodating stylized fight scenes and the general vibe of the show is just for me. So glad you did a video on this anime its truly slept on! Great job!

    I think Samurai Champloo's story and message only grows stronger in time. The whole "Getting over the Past" arc of the tale really settles in, as I often remember the early 2000s being such a cool time for me. I know that looking back, there definitely we're a few rough patches, but I just can't shake that feeling of wanting to go back to that era. But this anime helped me with that, as it weaponized my nostalgia against me, in a good way. 10/10 in my book.

    Nice review. I watched this anime back when the only anime I knew about were shows like Inuyasha and Naruto. Long meandering stories that felt like they would never end, for better or worse. When Champloo ended i was absolutely shocked and heartbroken. It has remained my number one favourite ever since.

    I haven't seen this anime but the soundtrack's killer & that literally put it in my watchlist. Shinichiro Watanabe is the master in selecting music.

    What an amazing review!! I never hear of anyone talking about this show, but to me, it’s in my top 5 anime of all time!
    Music aside, Fuu, Mugen and Jin captured my heart, along with all the other memorable characters they’ve met along their journey. There’s so much soul in this show, and I’ve become emotionally attached to them as if they were friends. The experiences they had are stories I return to often - I rewatch this at least twice a year…so I hope that more people discover what a gem this is…

    Toonami which is now basically adult swim reaired Samurai Champloo again back in 2016 like they did in the summer of 2006 and 2007 in the West, and the reairing continues to this day. I'm not exactly certain about the time it gets aired although you can check the schedule for adult swim if you have it on cable tv. Samurai Champloo has become a staple for the channel at this point and likely more years to come.
    If you know anybody that has cable tv and toonami/adult swim, let them Samurai Champloo can be watched there during certain days and times of the week. Depending on how their daily work schedule is like, they probably have to adjust some of their sleep routine in order to watch the show.

    Being real, this the best anime I have ever watched and the only which got me emotional. Even now watching your video, I was feeling something. It’s interesting to know that watanabe didn’t want to do a second season because he believed he wouldn’t be able to match the perfection of the first. This alone makes champloo a legendary classic.

  • @davy209
    @davy209 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Samurai Champloo is like somewhere in the middle between underrated anime classics and greatest anime of all time. Samurai Champloo definitely wasn’t slept on when it first aired on Adult Swim, actually it was really popular among anime fans and casual audiences and the show still holds up strong for today’s standards but it’s also not in the same discussion with shows like Death Note, Brotherhood, or Cowboy Bebop as one of the greatest anime shows of all time. Samurai Champloo definitely deserves to be apart of the conversation with Bebop and Brotherhood but it still has an incredible amount of respect among the anime community and not criminally ignored like other shows: Serial Experiments Lain, Mushishi, or Rainbow: Criminal Seven of Compound Two Cell Six!

  • @lihisluikku

    I really liked how the anime always had suspense. At the start, there was no suspense over Mugen and Jin winning in combat. It was established they were miles above anyone they encounter.
    But the viewer would still be on the edge of his seat. Not because of the two protagonists being in trouble of losing. We were afraid their personalities would drive them against each other, or to just leave Fuu and go away. The tension was not from the enemies being threatening, but the trio we wanted to see more of, threatening to tear itself apart.
    Later we find there is tension when the samurai killer wounds Mugen with his chi attacks. When the blind assassin almost kills both of the protagonists. And last, when the ultra mega samurai captain hunts down Mugen, Jin and Fuu. All while the vengeful brothers want to kill Mugen. At that last episode, I was genuinely terrified they might just have the samurai kill Fuu after her dad she just saw for the first time in a decade. That Mugen would die to the scythe user. That Jin died to the sword master. I was half expecting it would just end on them all dying as closure.

    A wonderful analysis of Samurai Champloo, JustAcritic! I've seen lots of reviews of Champloo giving the same critique: "It tries to be too much like Cowboy Bebop, but it isn't as good." While it does have similarities to Bebop, it definitely doesn't deserve to be unfairly held in the shadow of its predecessor like this. It has many of its own benefits. Like your point about how we all have our past errors, but by coming together, we can grow past them.
    You've made me want to binge Champloo all over again. Just like when I first watched it in 2011!

    Samurai Champloo is actually much deeper, but even some Japanese folks might miss it. For example: Jin is not just letting Shina run away on a boat from her husband to nowhere. Getting a divorce for a woman almost impossible back then. But there was a way. Shina is going to monastery for women, if she spends there 3 years without contacts with men she can be free from her husband. So there is hope that 3 years later Jin will come back for her. There is a lot of historical context for things going on.
