The gun sold for $ 20.00 or less it was a cheaply made gun that was almost considered a throw away gun as most of them did not last very long. This belonged to my dad and it is priceless to me. There are four adjustments, from highest to lowest. 1-Fill pressure 2.Valve size (if you have the SpinLoc valve kit) 3.The number on the slider 4.The number on the knurled dial You really need to know all 4 to get accurate settings.

Thank you for the memories, I think mine is a 512, my grandfather had it on the dairy farm. He passed away in 1953, my dad got the gun and the dairy. With all the diets. He gave me the gun years ago. All of my brothers & all of my cousins would shoot it at all the family gatherings. It has been WELL used. It needs some work on the bolt action. Thinks again for the hart felt memory

This was probably the first rifle I ever shot. Belonged to Dad, it's in .22 magnum, used it to control the woodchuck population. Can still see it hanging in the kitchen facing an old H&R .410 Topper model. Still have both after 50+ years.

With the M-49, if you missed the shot don't blame the gun, it was all on YOU. ;) While not real good for more that 50 yards with the open sights I have hit many 'Steels' at 100 yards for that nice "Clang" sound. I'd bet if I could mount a scope on mine it would be very good at 100 to 150 yards. Too short of a barrel for 200 yards but you'd hit something good and hard.

Hand oiled finish. Linseed oil. Take some 4#oooo steelwool to it and rub some linseed oil on it and it will look like new in no time. I went to camp when I was 9 and they had a model 511, magazine feed Remington. I would rent that thing everyday and buy a box of fifty, Winchester Super x and a target. The first day a counselor went with me to show me how to work it and teach me safety. After that I just went by myself. Needless to say I was hooked and after three weeks I was bringing back targets with no bullseyes left. Fast forward, I came across one from a guy that was down on his luck, or decision making and he had this gun that was pretty trashed, that he wanted to sell. I gave him $25 for it and put it away for a while. A couple of years went by and I pulled this thing out and realized what it was. Then I went to work on it and found that the bore which I couldn't even see down was like new when I cleaned it. I had to cut the mag out because it was Bondoed in place, and make a new release spring for the magazine. Guess that's why it was glued in place. I did a lot of scrubbing and polishing with steelwool and such to get the rust off and paint off the stock. Very long story short, I have the identical rifle I learned to shoot with sixty years later, and it still very accurate.

Just got a 95otb off the bay. Holy heck this are actually really well done. Never tried a trapper from old timer before. Usually the corner edge of the blade when closed digs in to your hand when you use the other blade. With the the 95 they slightly take the edge off a and its perfect. I was hard using it yesterday and it worked great.

I’ll never understand how anyone goes digging into a closet, attic, basement and finds a long lost gun. I’m in my very senior years and off the top of my mind It is still possible for me to recall every firearm I owned and where they are at present time. Weather I still own them or who I sold them to or what gun store I might have traded it in on or who I bought them from.
