It's been a couple years... you still using it? How do you like it?
Mhm i'm not sure whether i care whether it makes sense or is practical. I just want it.
Can you give a rig break down? Curious what y’all are riding.
Did you use a map app for this trail? Loved your adventure. So many questions I have... would love to do this as well. Will be doing some forestry roads riding around Chilliwack area if anyone is interested.
Broken in less than 500 k, maybe for road.
Thank you.
Thanks for the review, I will get the stem 👍
Should you use hub dynamo for light purpose: Absolutely! But when it comes to charging devices, then the device receiving the charge will get irregular charging which will shorten its life, hence why you want to charge a battery pack and not the device itself.
Fantastic trip, thanks for sharing
What is the route on RIDE WITH GPS?
I have used Aeroe handlebar cradle on approx 10 rides so far. On the first two ride with only 4.5lbs on the cradle, the cradle kept slipping lower, pressing into my hydraulic brake lines. The Clamping kept loosening. On the next few rides, the cradle slipped almost immediately with approx. 6lbs in the cradle. I then used a handlebar extender to move the cradle out from my handlebars. On the next ride with 7lbs in the cradle the extender held but the cradle clamps loosened and the cradle flopped almost to tire level and pressed against my brake lines. On my last ride I think i have found a solution. I put an additional extender under the first extender so when the cradle clamps loosen. The cradle did flop, but only as far as the second extender not into my brake lines. I now have built up the extender thickness with rubber inner tube and really cranked the cradle clamps down on the tubing. I am testing this latest version and it seems to hold. My complaint about the cradle itself Is that the dry bag (that contains my tent. fly, poles and ground sheet) keeps bouncing and keeps spinning in the cradle. It is like the cradle material is not sturdy enough to even carry a 7 lb load. Neither the company I purchased it from Mountain Equipment Co-op nor Aeroe seem to care about the lack of performance or quality of this product. This product can only be used with a lot of work.
Wow. That sucks man, I have one and loved it it hasn't given me many problem-- and I was thinking about purchasing the dry bag
i`d like it fixed more on the screws then on the stripes. in a long trip i prefer maintainability
I really want to purchase this bag to put my sleep system in, but my tent poles are 48cm long, would they be able to fit inside the 15L bag without having to strap them to the outside?
Saying shock top everytime instead of shock stop was frusterating to hear. Everything else was great.
Here is an additional consideration - If your house is offgrid and you need to bike back and forth to town, it might be very worth the investment as you can charge up your batteries while out on tour and come home and charge your equipment through the battery charged while biking... Then it might be very worth the additional weight and cost
This is great, takes me back! thanks for sharing.
how does it handle handle bar weight like a handle bar bag?
This might have to go onto my bikepacking bucket list now!
Beautiful scenery and great video
Thanks Dad!
Definitely inspired me while editing it!
What amazing scenery! Thanks for sharing this adventure. Will have to add this to my bucket list.
Nice to see that all of the footage of me with my shirt off made the final cut
Kelton requested it specifically.

Epic place to ride! Thanks for sharing
I love it. Thanks man. I think I may hit Iceland next year.
What bike GPS do you use for your remote bike packing trips? I apologize if a repeat questions. I did search your channel but could not find any video's specific to what GPS you use and why. Would be a great video to share what GPS units you have used and like best. I am in Alberta, I only need a GPS unit for routing and tracking distance/ speed. I don't require all the training features. Thanks.
Gorgeous! Nothing can go wrong in a place like this!...
gotta keep those loonies flowing
Ha ha! Why in the world are you using all six straps for those caddies and handlebar bag? The bottom support strap of the handlebar bag goes around the headtube or headset FIRST, THEN you attach the caddies, and good lord you don't use all those straps. The caddies connect to each other, and they connect to the handlebar bag! That support strap keeps the handlebar bag so solid. I put a dSLR in that bag. That's a heavy camera.
Sounds like the tires are getting rubbed against the frame 😅
Dude you attached the caddies and the handlebar bag incorrectly. Look at their individual product pages and you can see how they attach.
Thanks for posting! I lived in the Comox Valley in the early 2000’s; got to explore Quadra Island trails a lot: returned for a 10 day bikepacking tour of Quadra and Cortes in 2019. Really appreciated the 2 cafe/coffee bars on Quadra and the store/cafe in Manson’s Landing ☕️. What Nemo tent are you using? Pro’s cons?
thk u
Wonderful video and great write up. I have a couple questions: How many days did you spend riding? What was your average speed? I have a limited amount of time for a trip like this so any information is useful. I would be using a similar bike that you had.
The part after your snack stop at 2 minutes 10 seconds where you have that piece of food stuck in the corner of your mouth then start talking about getting dumped on, LMFAO. Too funny! Thanks for adding that bit of comedic value! Rated R bike ride.
Great video! My fiance and i are planning to do this trip. What month did you do it in?
overpriced bike
Great video! I’m curious about the tire width you and your friend are using. What is the width and how do you consider it for the mixed roads you riding?
Excellent review and I liked the music!
Stumbled on your content. Thanks for posting.
Good to see you guys did the single track from sparwood to hosmer, most packers skip it and ride the powerline road which is super rocky in sections. Did you check out the Hosmer ruins? Thats pretty cool.
Hi from the Western Italian Alps :) I'm scrolling videos to learn more on dynahubs, but now i must definitely look for your bikefishing vids if you've done any :))))
watching from pluto guys !!
Helpful video. I got curious about dynamos somewhere and thought if it can generate power for my lights, why not. But then again, I'm not an intense biker. Cost seems prohibitive and the bottle dynamo seemed to wear out wheels fast. Not for me. Thanks for this!
Cool video and amazing landscapes! May I ask you what changes did you do to the traditional divide route? I'd also like to ride it south-north to being able to ride the Westfjords without kilos of freeze-dried food! Did you went there at the end?
Wow that sounds awful
Why not calculate the additional battery weight needed to offset the drag from the dynamo on hilly terrain?
