    Only need 350 km of food. About 4 days from Dawson to Eagle Plains. You can forward a food box with tourists from Dempster info Centre. Ask Dawn who works there to set it up.

    I just finished riding the Dempster north to south. One thing you didn't mention, but that I think is essential to your sanity is a bug suit. I've never seen mosquitos so bad. Every. Single. Day.

    Will you be adding straps to the top portions of the front water bottles? That road can get really rough and a rogue/projectile water bottle can be real trip stopper 😬 Looking forward to your trip videos! Happy travels!!

    • @SirBikesAlot
      @SirBikesAlot  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are very secure. I've tested them on some really rough logging roads and mountain bike trails and haven't had any issues, but I appreciate the concern!

      @@SirBikesAlot Awesome! There's definitely enough rough roads on the west coast to test durability of gear!! haha! Happy trails ahead!!

    I'm curious about the thinking behind bringing spare brake pads. Wouldn't installing new ones just before leaving be sufficient? I would hope that one could get 1,000k out of a set easily, but the terrain is more challenging.

    • @Jamie.S.
      @Jamie.S. 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I thought this as well. Maybe I should be thinking about putting in a spare set myself. Hmmmm

    • @SirBikesAlot
      @SirBikesAlot  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      On my last big tour of about 1,300 km I burned through a set of brake pads. If it rains alot and your are on gravel roads, the grit get into the pads and wears down pretty fast, especially when you are carrying a lot of extra weight. I'm anticipating that we'll get some rain on this ride so just bringing along to be safe and hoping I won't need them, but there won't be any opportunities to pick some up along the way.

    If the tent fly or tarp is wet, how do you isolate it from the sleeping bag to keep it dry?

    • @SirBikesAlot
      @SirBikesAlot  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have a camp towel that I use to create a layer between the two if needed. It hasn't really been an issue on any tour i've ever done.

    Bahaha those thermals! Do you ever have those straps with buckles on your Aero Spider cradle start to come loose and need retightening? I started using voile straps on my cradle rather than a strap with buckles and found it to be SOO much better. I can get it tighter, and it never gets loose on me! Have a great trip man!

    • @SirBikesAlot
      @SirBikesAlot  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I made a video like this last year and there were lots of comments about getting rid of them so I thought I'd do a little throw back. I haven't had any issues with the cradles coming loose, the buckle is pretty sturdy but I'm keeping it pretty light in the bags. Thanks for the kind words Chris, hope you have a good summer!

    Enjoy the trip. In August the mosquitoes drop off before that they can be hell. A bug jacket is nice. If you are alone a bearbanger is nice. They are legal in Canada and when used correctly are very effective. I would be interested how the Spot worked above Eagle Plains. If you have the time there are a number of short hikes in Tombstone Territorial Park. Nine days of food should be enough. Enjoy

    Ditch the pre glued tube patches. They don’t work. Bring a regular patch kit. Epic Trip! 👍

    • @SirBikesAlot
      @SirBikesAlot  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Cheryl, I've been carrying and using preglued patches for about 7 years with no issues. They aren't a long term solution but I find them better than the glued ones which are a mess. TBH I've never gotten flat bikepacking since I went tubeless anyway (knocks on wood) but I'll be carrying a few tubes as well.

    I really like your videos! Like many I do enjoy gear lists and yours are always presented calmly and filmed really well. Dig the music too. May I ask, how do you like that Nemo tent? I'd like to upgrade my Ferrino Nemesi ultralight 1p tent since it's been quite miserable during the last bikepacking adventure in the rain. It didn't leak and it has short poles but I would appreciate extra livable space when the weather doesn't allow to be outside.

    • @SirBikesAlot
      @SirBikesAlot  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the thoughtful comment. The nemo 2P isn’t really that big. It’s more of a one person tent. I like it but it’s a bit pricey for the money. Sounds like you just need to move to a slightly larger tent!

    What seat pack are you recommending these days????

    • @SirBikesAlot
      @SirBikesAlot  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m really liking the Arkel Seatpacker that you see in this video. Super stable and dropper compatible. I used a mr fusion for a few years and that was great but not dropper compatible. If you don’t need a dropper that is a great option. They are made by a different company but I hear quality is still good. I’m actually considering selling mine if you are interested. The others that I have used without a rack or attachment sway quite a bit so I’d avoid those.

    • @thomasstacho
