Chrysler 300 Club Spring 2024 meet Kokomo Indiana
May 18 2024 the Chrysler 300 Club International hosted a car show during their spring meet in Kokomo Indiana. I was lucky enough to attend, meet some great club members and do a couple interviews with owners. For the record I’ve never interviewed anyone before. I chose people at random, that were willing to talk about their cars on camera. If I missed you I do apologize, but there were so many club members and great cars, it was a bit overwhelming. This is part one of the show, enjoy!

Unsticking valves with BRUTE FORCE

This is more of a “this is how I did it” more than a “how to” …Although the engine does run, I don’t intend to use it in “as is” condition, so let’s use BRUTE FORCE to free up this stuck valve and see if this old girl will fire on all 8 cylinders. #chrysler #mopar #willitrun

HONDA CT70 NO SPARK Let’s find out what’s wrong
Leatherique is a company that supply's leather restoration materials. They hold patent on the aniline dye process from 60 years ago or so. They sell color matched dye, rejuvination and cleaner liquids in a collagen base. Collagen has a property of unwinding its 3 molecular strands with the right amount of heat. They have an informative booklet on the science behind this for download on their website. To get the right temp, I have found a garment steamer with a hose works great. Without that level of heat, sometimes a tacky surface is left. Not so with steam. Follow the steamer immediately with a clean towel. The rejuvination liquid melts into the pores floating out the dirt and oil, and wiping up immediately so it can't re-soak into the leather is key. It's very effective for deep cleaning and in restoring suppleness and stretch to leather.
Happiness is a warm welding tip. 1960s Chrysler white - one of the strongest compounds known to man? Maybe.
Thank you for this!!
On the 300G with the radio antenna on the driver side. When the cars were new, and didn't have the power antenna, the antenna was installed at the dealership. This way they could swap a radio from one car to another on the lot if needed. The dealer was supposed to mount it on the passenger side fender. I have a 1964 Dodge wagon that didn't come from the factory with a radio but the dealer installed the correct radio but put the antenna on the driver side.
It’s crazy how much the dealers were involved with final assembly back in the day, that definitely doesn’t go on anymore!!! Thanks for watching
Great video JoJo! I just bought my first project bike. I have a question on the key switch. Was it plug and play or did you have to do some tweaking on it?
I reused my original key switch that did in fact connected perfectly to my new harness. Good luck on your project and thanks for tuning in!
Awesome The Top Level For the Whole Beautiful Forward Look And Later Classy Years
We couldn’t agree more! Thanks for tuning in
Love it. Best video ever!!
Glad you liked it!!
Awesome cars, Love them all
Indeed, what a great design series
Have to love people that blow snow back into the road.
you want to spin the valve once you are able to spin the valve it should loosen it up and will be able to go up and down if not take a torch to it and add heat but since you have the spring off make sure that piston is all the way to the top that way the valve can't fall in and you will not be able to get it back without removing the head
So what did you do with that car since it's not around any more?
The car is out in storage with all the other junk…it may be for sale soon…or under the knife!!!
I have seen some engines that sat for long periods have sludge in the bottom of the pan and it is hard for the pickup to suck oil in it's got to be drained or heated up to loosen up for the pickup to get suction
It was smoky when it was fired up because there was still oil on the tops of the pistons from when it was added.
That kid is funny he is scared of everything man when I was a kid my old man would bring me to his buddy's junk yard on the weekends and I would love watching engines being fired up with no manifolds and flames spitting out of the heads and it being loud it was what made me fall in love with working on old cars. I'm a big Mopar guy owned many and have a few. I had a 63 Newport with a 413 it had the square steering wheel a friend has a 300 J with the dual quad long ram 413 that thing is a beast with loads of torque
He’s a scardy cat on some things, but we’re working on him…he’s a good boy!!!
AWESOME find! all the best! I have a 1964 Imperial Crown Coupe. Staten Island, New York! 😊
I had one of those for years, almost long enough to get all the seats changed to leather from the cloth it was redone in. Great driving cars.
Are you still doing the the 62 Newport, cheers
I’ve got 1 more video on the 1962 Newport…I really don’t have any other plans for it besides using it for parts…possibly sell as is… we’ll see. Thanks for watching!
Would be nice if the camera was closer!
Sorry guy…we’ll try harder on the next one
i have change everything under the front, still made the same noise.... iam beginning to think it has something to do with the break caliper, cause when i step on the break it seems to be a lot less sometimes even stops
Interesting!!! Good luck
were in Eau Claire and we have a ton of parts for these cars. let me know if you need anything. engines, trans, interior, dashes, trim, bumpers frames brakes... everything
GOTCHA gotcha guy!
That's what dreams are made of, good on you.
Thanks man!!! We’re really proud of it!
Very nice
Thanks!!! We’re really stoked!!!
You might not want to change the original color, but imagine it in a period-correct forest green with a tan leather interior.
I won’t be changing the original color…but Pinehurst green is my absolute favorite
I take a hand pump and put the hose down the dip stick tube and pump the pan before i get under my truck and take off my pan with no mess
That’s a GREAT idea!!!
Jojo - so happy for you! Sally and I met you at the 300 Club Car Show in Kokomo...now you need to come to Omaha for sure! All the best, thanks for posting your 300G find -- awesome!
Thanks for watching Kurt!!! Omaha is on our radar!
Shweet ride! Killer body lines. That Yuengling looks pretty tasty too!
Thanks for tuning in!!! And yes Yuengling is fire
AWESOME Find! Wish you folks good luck with it! We also love these cars....Having a 61 NewYorker two door and my Buddies 61 Newport two door is sitting next to it in the garage....Also a 60 NewYorker two door and a 60 Fury two door.... Look forward to more vids of your car!
Heck yeah!!! Thanks for tuning in
400 HP has a solid cam, 375HP has a hydraulic cam.
I'm hearing one of my three blades hitting something under the deck and it's loud enough my wife heard it in the house. But when I lift the tractor up and turn the blades with my hands I cannot hear or see any of the blades hitting anything.......I did have one deck wheel removed as it was bent sideways....and I fixed that yesterday....could that have been a problem and causing this problem or sound?
Do the blades hit each other when they’re directly in line? This mowers blades wouldn’t hit anything when spun by them selves, but would hit each other ever so slightly when in line. I’d be double checking everything…and looking at the deck very closely for cracked paint that would indicate a bend. Good luck!!!
hi I see that you use your impact to run your engine but what type of socket do you use? bye good video !
I just use a 17mm chrome socket, it hasn’t shattered yet!!! Thanks for watching
Waiting for the next video on this baby!
Great narrative with tips!
Glad to see more people do this.. the plastic is crap and should never been used
Well it is Dorman…so I guess we’ll see
It's a Chrysler. End of story. No shock.
one recommendation while doing this to your vehicle go ahead and get plugs and change them while you are in there with every thing apart.
Yup we sure did…they were toasty!!! Thanks for watching
@@Jojoandsonsgarage I saw you did, thanks for making the video!! I was just stating it for people that didn't catch it and didn't understand they have to do the same work over again if they don't. kind of goes either way, if your in there doing one or the other and you can afford to do it all since its such a pain to get to.
I bought one new in 1986 ! $799.00 and my wife thought I lost my mind. I still have it after 36 years. Best lawnmowers ever produced ... Period !
Right on!!!
Man u scored the car I've wanted since I was 13 years old but never owned! And I'm too old and broke to restore one now. That's 289 cu. in.
What’s the cost of a disc brake conversion for a 1966 Impala 2 door hardtop?
Love the bubble! Dad had one in the ‘60 Chrysler.
Coolest dash EVER!!! Thanks for watching
My first car was 59 Dodge, and 2nd and 3rd were Sport Fury’s w/ 361 c.i. I thought they were small blocks.
Chrysler had some crazy engine options way back then…Chryslers in 62 never came with a small block…rule of thumb is, if the distributor is in the front…it’s a big block
Bob
Thank you for this . But i think when you want to check the rubber of suspension parts, you must unloaded the car Thank u❤
I love the sock as rag.... rags are sometimes a tough commodity. Sweat shirts are pretty bad too.
Thank you! Replacing lower front ball joint on my ‘69 Impala today and it didn’t fit. Same style as yours. I have the whole control arm out of the car and had wire wheeled and painted it. Removed the paint from where the ball joint slots in on the sides and filed down the edges of the ball joint a bit, after watching your video, and managed to get it in. One of the holes would just not line up. I put the top nut on and as I tightened it, it pulled the ball joint in enough to get the side bolt through. All good now. By the way, I have been scraping dried and baked on grease off things for a month during this job.
had this problem before and if you want to take out end links of equasion take end links off car and see if it makes noise
That’s correct
I’d love to see you fix up the old engine. Once again, you are amazing!
Good video, I’ll go ahead and do mine on a 73 riviera thanks
Had this exact truck in the mid '80's, rebuilt the 402 to 400HP. Truck had heavy suspension and had no traction, would not stop or steer. Was built to go into a Monte, but never happened.
What shop manual is the best for a 1976 CT
I use a reprint of the factory manual that I bought on eBay years ago…it does include all the yearly revisions in the back. Clymer is good…but the factory knows best
I would definitely like to see a repair video on the old motor. Oh and the points ignition surprised me as well!
I’ve got the parts…so we’ll get it on the schedule!!! Stay tuned
Great job on the video. I had no idea that the output is the camshaft! Interesting way to get a 2 to 1 gear reduction. I have one of these snow throwers that I found at the dump and I quite like it. Works really well for light jobs. It does lack power when you get into heavier snow though. My plans of bumping up the power with a different power plant are more complicated now for sure
I was thinking of a repower as well …but with that funky camshaft reduction I’m puzzled. Thanks for watching!!!
At least it still runs though. But that smoke though, I would be concerned.
