Dude, when I first saw these “buying section 8 homes” videos pop up - words can’t express the hope I felt as a low income working class single mother. Needless to say, 2 seconds into the video, I was clearly crushed with the dystopian reality that these people were not talking to me - they were talking about me. Also, this man owns section 8 in MY town.

I have been sexually harrassed and bullied by my cooking peers at every cooking job I have had. The restaurant industry turned me into a depressed alcoholic and stoner just so I could forget my mental, physical, and emotional pain. I love working. I love being on my feet and providing really good looking plates. But the abuse from managers, customers and cooks has put me into a hopeless and suicidal state. Servers and managers make more money then I do as a cook which is completely unfair because we put our bodies through so much physical pain. You literally turn into a zombie to be able to work in the restaurant industry.

LOVE this video! I am starting a 501-C3 for a food resource for my city because Feeding America, the US Gov and churches arent very helpful. I didnt want to file as a nonprofit at first, but its the only way we can accept donations without being taxed like crazy. And i want to commit fully to the cause so eventually ill have to make a living, but it will be only what i need and what all the other employees will make. I dont see a reason one salary should be higher than another ever. If we get the money to have employees, we split it. Ive seen some non-profits truly run in a humane way but its real rare and theyre not ever huge enterprises. I used to work at one too and could barely get by with another job

I work for one of the worst nonprofits-one that “unites” corporations, individuals, and governments so they can find a “way” to fund agencies in their area. It is absolutely a business, very political, and basically a pass-through from corporate philanthropic-we skim a bit to keep our organization afloat-and then give the rest to the agencies that do the work. Nobody should give to the organization I work for. The corporations that twist the arms of their employees to give to us are also the corporations that created the problems for low income citizens in the first place (BANKS are huge donors to us, and they created Black poverty by redlining. Kellogg gives to us, after they’ve given low income people diabetes). That sort of thing. As soon as I am medicare-eligible, I’m leaving and starting my own communications company. The CEO of our worldwide organization was making $1.2 million in 2020. I didn’t know any of this until I started working here. I hate this. I can’t wait to get out.

She needs to add in the trad stuff to increase engagement. Especially with men who are porn addicted so she can keep them there with the thirst trap content.

10 years ago when I was first out of college, I got a crappy job making $11 an hour (in a major city) where we were typically alone in the building with one person on shift. 4 days a week, the same guy would have the AM shift and I would come in for PM. The AM guy would always hang back like 30 minutes to "screw off" (talk to me) while on the clock, and eventually the owner noticed this and started watching us on camera and collected "evidence" to hit us with. He was in trouble because he was on the clock for no particular reason, and I was in trouble because I wouldn't do shit for the first 30 minutes of my shift. It was impossible to take seriously, knowing he was doing "detective" work over this. We never took paid breaks anyway seeing as we were an open to the public business and only one person was there at any time, so realistically it was time owed to us anyway.

Yeah and if you decide to move up the ladder into management you’ll work way more hours and make way less money, make it make sense ! 😢

I love your views and comments. But having a maid is India is not the same as any other country. There is a whole class of labour force that depends on these kinds of jobs. By sacking them and doing our own work will leave them jobless and will force them to beg.

the system is also unbelievably cruel to those with disabilities you are told to go get a job but then nobody wants to actually hire you because your disability might slow you down and you might not be as productive as a fully abled worker. Which is a crime against the bottom line! In alot of cases people with disabilities often fairly serious ones are expected to perform their jobs at the same level as their non disabled peers or they will be fired or austracized. This forces the disabled to overwork themselves even more than the general population does to try to keep up with their abled co workers. So its no wonder so many of us just take our Social security checks and make do.

Omg. I cannot tell you how many times my landlord has LECTURED me on how he lost a bunch of weight. I basically know half his diet and he does this because I’m obese. He also simultaneously said I could contact him if I had questions about recipes/ diet etc. and made me feel like crap for contacting him after hours because my neighbors were literally using power tools in the bedroom above mine for hours after midnight. (Tenant related issue) I’m on housing, it’s incredibly hard to move on housing… very strict deadlines for 30 day notice, finding another place- putting in application + fee- after you’ve made time to view it( which depends on that landlord’s availability) hoping it’s in your housing allotment (because they don’t give you that info upfront you need to do a class that housing schedules) and if your application is accepted above all the other people applying for that same apartment you’ll also need to get a housing worker to see the place and make sure it’s up to housing standards…. All within that 30 day notice.. which the 30 day notice has to happen before housing schedules the class that gives you your voucher… which you need to get the apartment your trying to move into. On top of packing and cleaning. AND if the housing inspection isn’t done by the time your 30 day notice ends they won’t start paying for the apartment or the one your trying to leave because you’ve officially stopped living there after that notice is up. Saying all that, when I had to move because another tenants son was stalking, harassing my daughter and threatening me… I had to find a new place fast. There were no places except my same landlord having a different apartment available in a different complex. So I have the same landlord and he’s pretty understanding about funding from housing and other resources so with the insane timeline of housing expectations he was ok with my deposit taking some time to actually get to him and for my housing voucher to be late. He also takes care of maintenance issues in a timely manner has given me grace on forgetting to turn in rent on time so he isn’t a slumlord… however, I’ve seen how he treats the tenants that he has to evict and he will blackball the hell out of them from ever getting another apartment… at least for as long as he can. I never want to be on his bad side..,, which is why I endure the demeaning lectures of proper diet and how he lost all his weight and how anyone can do it…

Start holding managers accountable for favoritism and half the harassment will stop. I’ve seen a disturbing trend in favoritism and “ harem building” in this industry even in corporate restaurants that don’t perform any oversight.
