The Future of James Bond: 5 Things I Want To See
Die Another Day superior to Moonraker
They could have done one in 2004 or 2005. I would have padi Pierce Brosnan money make more money in case Casino Royale 2006 in case it flopped 😮. But I really want to Sean Connery in On Her Majesty's Secret Service in 1967 that the original plan.
For me I found this to hard to rank but here are my 9 favourite in no particular order Spy who loved me License to Kill Tomorrow never dies A view to a kill Goldeneye World is not enough Living daylights OHMSS Octopussy But for me my all time 2 favourite have to be Living Daylights and World is not enough.
I do prefer a “weak” entry of the old 007 series than any of the Craig’s era movies. Just for the record… My favorite Bond (for personal reasons) is Sir Roger Moore (my first Bond movie was The Man With The Golden Gun, when released at theaters). The best Bond is Sir Timothy Dalton (based on the books). Skyfall was the last great Bond theme composed. The next two… 🥱😴 My favorite Bond theme (almost impossible to chose) is Moonraker. My favorite 007 movie is The Spy Who Loved Me. The last classy Bond was Pierce Brosnam. And I did step out of unconditional love for the series after Casino Royale. 🎥🌟✌️ I had the oportunity to have lunch at the Piz Gloria some years ago. For fans of the 007 series is a great place to spend some time. Many of the original decor and architecture are still in the building. The restaurant itself is on the top floor, where was the clinic dining room and it revolves slowly, showing beautiful views of the alps. And there’s a small Bond exhibition at the lower level.
I thought of “die to live again” as a potential title
Perfectly said! Sean would nail OHMSS.
It's very difficult to stop technology - once someone invents it and funds it, it tends to happen, whether we like it or not. Who would try to have control? The families of dead actors? The studios that had the original contract (for instance the 1962 Dr. No contract, even though that studio is now owned by...)? I have dreamed of this technology for 40 years, but now I worry about the effect on actors. It seems the whole filmmaking process is becoming less of a group collaboration, and more in the hands of a small number of people with a lot of money, who don't have to answer to anybody.... except perhaps Box Office dollars.
A great title sequence, a great song, and a great breakdown of the whole thing! Thanks for uploading; I liked it and subscribed.
Eon previously acquired the rights to the Kevin McClory material. So they could go in any direction with the Bond franchise.
I know this is an old video but No Time to Die made $774.3 Million at the box office if there was no pandemic how much it would’ve made? Just want your opinion pls reply.
Actually, Bond did start with CASINO ROYALE. That was in 1954, Barry Nelson being the very first Bond ever on screen.
That scene in Tomorrow Never Dies with Dr. Kaufman is so darkly hilarious. I love it. Also, Teri Hatcher ❤
For the life of me I cannot comprehend how people think "A View to a Kill" by DuranDuran is a great or even a good song. The initial horns and percussions of the track is the only good instant. the chord progression is erratic, the lyrics are meaningless, and the chorus is the climax of mediocrity. AVTAK limped so The Living Daylights could soar, from the title song to its score. mayday was even a prototype necros in that she had a minor theme comparable to The Pretenders "where has everybody gone" as she strangled people. (pretenders also played the best outro song of the series)
Just rewatching this, I forgot how much fun I had on this video.
Mission Impossible has surpassed 007 as the best action espionage franchise now.
Broccoli & Wilson were afraid to let Tarantino make Casino Royale with Brosnan that would have been fun to see but they did not want to give Quentin the creative control he wanted and this is why they won't ever hire Christopher Nolan to make a Bond film the producers are stubborn egomaniacs they can't give up creative control to strong directors.
Thank You, Finally I see a Video that's almost a recommendation of the James Bond Actors Roles Outside of Their Bond: My Introduction to James Bond as a Whole was the Franchise that James Bond Inspired, it has so many Bond Related Actors and one of James Bond Actors Casted so Amazingly despite he is 12 Years Younger than the main Actor who is the Main Title Character...And That is Indiana Jones with Sean Connery as Indy's Dad, Just Amazing!!! Also you choose Daniel Craig in Tintin over Knives Out, I love him in Both...Finally Some Love of the Tintin Movies!!!
My Family Loved Kili, but the Less said about Poldark the Better...Not the Protrayal, The Character My Family Hated Where the Character went resently!
He was James Bond in the 80’s the only thing is is that he never took the role early enough for him to Replace Rodger Moore. It’s a View to a Kill or some other bond films that Rodger Moore did.
Interesting alternative universe. Cubby Broccoli may have been anxious at the tonal whiplash For Your Eyes Only could have caused if Moore had not stayed on - throwing out the baby and the bathwater. Also, if Dalton had started with FYEO on a three-film contract, then his renewal might have been interesting as Brosnan would have become available for The Living Daylights - but would they have even asked him if Dalton was established in the role and wanted to renew?
For Your Eyes Only-at least it’s opening-is the spiritual sequel to OHMSS. Moore was great at the cemetery, but I could totally see Dalton laying flowers on Teresa’s grave. Also, everything would come full circle in Licence to Kill with its own echoes of Teresa’s death with the Felix Leiter drama. Connery was the 60s Bond. Moore was the 70s Bond Dalton was the 80s Bond Brosnan was the 90s Bond. I admit that I would have liked Dalton in Goldeneye too! Great work on this video and topic!
Everything or nothing was the greatest bond game ever made imo
My favourite Openings of these Classic Films are: From Russia with Love, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Goldfinger, The Spy Who Loved Me, Moonraker, A View To A Kill and The Man with the Golden Gun.
remember my dad showing living daylights
I'm odd. I prefer Lazenby, Moore, and Dalton over the others.
There was never any plans to make a sequel to N.S.N.A. because Kevin mcClory and jack schwartzman were legally barred/forbidden from making any more bond films, eon productions ltd had a court ruling stating that was the case.
The end just ruins the entire film but also craigs run in general. Theyve fucked it
Here's my Roger Moore ranks... ( ) = Where it ranks in my overall Eon Bond rankings 7. A View to a Kill (24) His age definitely the problem, not addressed properly to suit. Bond girl worst of all main Bond girls. Movie has quite a few boring moments especially in the first half. Moore is worst at the start, before getting to the mansion (Bond & Tibbett). 6. The Man with the Golden Gun (21) Least favourite Moore performance, looks awkward sometimes. Movie is saved by Lee and Villechaize, hate Sheriff Pepper. 5. Live and Let Die (16) Decent out of the blocks and style by Roger Moore, still not quite near to his best though. Like the characters apart from Pepper although slightly more bearable here, and not really a fan of Rosie. 4. For Your Eyes Only (13) Middle of the run adventure. Still good in places especially the action scenes. Love the different grounded Moore approach in this, still has a bit of humour too. Havelock is very good. 3. Moonraker (7) I loved the entertainment. Ok Jaws is a bit cartoony often but it's great to have him appear in an extra movie. Moore is wonderful. Drax is far better than Stromberg. Locations are stunning, and sets. Goodhead another very good Bond girl. 2. The Spy Who Loved Me (3) Narrowly misses out as first choice, but it's still my third favourite Bond film for a reason, loved very much. Excellent flow to the movie. XXX is my second favourite Bond girl (after Tracy). So much epicness. 1. Octopussy (2) (GE is no.1) It's still under ranked/scored in your current ranking! Too much greatness to behold. Moore performance is off the scale. Terrific villains. Can forgive the few cheesy moments, ok maybe not the Tarzan yell, hopefully it did waste the ammo of the far away catchers otherwise can't defend it one percent. PTS stunning. Action scenes of it's time breathtaking. Adventure, humour, backgammon scene, crocodile just about trumps Goldfinger bird, so much to enjoy.
He would be amazing. Intense, funny, confident, insanely hot, and intelligent. He has the Nond moves and have you seen him dance. Makes me weak in the knees!❤
Sam Neill or Sean Bean.❤
All of them are good but Cristian Bale would be my first pick.
Dalton and Lazenby in a movie together would had been good.I know its off topic, just wondering.
It's wild to me that Brocolli feels the need to 'reinvent' Bond. We're in a period in time where geopolitical tensions have never been higher. There's actual spies in actual Europe fighting in actual wars. There's AI, threats from China and Russia, people within governments who actively want the west to fail. There's SO much to choose from, but somehow they think Bond needs 'reinventing'? Madness.
Dang. This short has as much tact as the full length novels. Though, the narration probably helps extenuates its compelling qualities.
Thank you for making audiobooks of the short Bond stories available. You have the perfect voice for it.
There hasn't been a good Bond movie since Octopussy
Set the movies in the Cold War. Re-addapt the Fleming novels
Finally, someone who shares my idea.
You're appreciation of the From Russia With Love titles is commendable Mr Bond fan.
Take all the time you need Babs, just don't **** it up like Disney did with Star Wars.
Nah. I think Bond works as fairly light-hearted entertainment, not art or deeply thought provocative. Connery and Moore never take themselves too seriously and all the movies have plotholes and a sense of ridiculousness about them. That does not matter as the movies are action-packed and fun! It is entertaining for the masses. If you are into really psychological 1960s spy action, watch the Prisoner. That series has so much depth and hidden meanings you will never figure it all out in your lifetime. I am not saying Bond movies are bad, they are really well made. But they aim to enjoy us, not to make us think or feel too deeply. Changing them into something they are not would mean losing sales.
Well, it would be cool for them to use those but here’s the problem in James Bond is dead so it’s kind a hard to make a movie when you’re main character that the franchise is based upon is dead
There is nothing to love about that ending. It's just stupid.
I have the old Corgi Aston Martin DB5 and i also have the white Corgi Lotus. I also have both James Bond toy guns PPK and P99 and i also have the Blofeld funko pop.
I also have a family personal connection. In 1999, my sister took us to the cinema to see this as a joint birthday celebration for her and my dad. Unfortunately, I really didn't enjoy it. rewatching 25 years later, I liked it more. I agree the villains were disappointing, despite being great actors. I rate Denise as better than half the Bond girls, since she wasn't boring and her chemistry with Bond added a bit of fun. She feels like she belongs there more as the film advances; and her role as a non-spy made sense. Weird that Bond kills Elektra in cold blood, after the sympathy the audience was supposed to feel for her. Good opening story with an attack on MI6, and I like that they included M in some of the action and involved with Elektra's story. Since they were setting up Q's retirement, it would have been nice if he had been involved in the mission; as in License to Kill.
Henry Cavil would be a great James Bond.
What’s this?? A sixty year old movie franchise based on 70 year old books isn’t cutting it anymore? I am a lifelong fan of both and it’s not only over, it has been for a long time. You’re going to defend Moonraker? Octopussy? View to a Kill? Anything with Timothy Dalton in it? They ran out of Fleming titles in the early 70 s and I say titles because their relationship with the plots of the books ended after Thunderball!
I'd say it's doubtful that the series would have been better or even still around under anyone other than EON. Broccoli and Saltzman were experienced producers, and it's the case with Broccoli and Wilson today. McClory simply wasn't. You can't have the numerous course corrections or creative risks without EON (I mean, how many times was the series at risk in the 60s/70s? How many times was 'the right film' needed to ensure the character was still relevant?) I think it's something Bond fans take for granted today - the fact that Bond has always had a home of sorts. There's a consistency to it you just don't get with most other franchises. It's why I'm always hesitant to complain even when we get longer gaps between films as we do now. A lot of other producers would have tanked the franchise after 1969.
You know, the bet revivals of Bond have been aftr a break.
Would be lucky of me.Even the film at the moment made.
