Towards the end of the first 55 seconds I had a sneaky feeling youd say Toby Stephens. Character wise he defo got the best gig to play a true version of Flemings Bond.
Toby Stephens is great. He is perfect as Graves. Die Another Day is a poor film, but Stephens does everything he can with that character. If the film had been better, he would have ranked far higher as a Bond villain. You just have to see him bring his mix of menace and charm to Black Sails to see why.
Listened to some of these and enjoyed them. The last one was The Man with the Golden Gun in 2020. In an article published later that year called "For Your Ears Only", it was mentioned another was being planned for 2021, COVID permitting. Restrictions have been lifted now so why no more? Casino Royale would have been great for 2022 (to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the novel being written as well as the 60th anniversary of the film franchise) or 2023 (to mark the 70th anniversary of the book's publication). Will they return? EDIT 2025-02-08: I've discovered that in an interview with The Telegraph at Christmas 2023, Martin Jarvis announced that he would be recording a BBC Radio adaptation of Casino Royale in early 2024 with Toby Stephens as James Bond. Over a year later, it hasn't emerged. Has it been recorded? Is it in the editing stages?
Thanks so much for sharing.
Bond geeks like me self will love these 😊
Thank you for the great video and this amazing discovery 😮
I think I will make a video in French 😅
Goldfinger was my favourite, the music that plays when he's talking to Goldfinger from his suite in Miami.
