First time watching you two. I love seeing someone at the start of their motorcycle journey. I am 58 and have been riding since I was 13. You two have reminded me of why I started riding bikes. Good job guys.
One day we'll all go round Europe on a Goldwing, we're all too young just yet.🤣😂😂
I think this seems like a good idea
Suzuki Vstrom is a very good bike, and nice n light for manouvering...manhoovering??...if you need to turn it around. I think they also come in other colours, not just yellow. 👍 So if you don't want to sell everything you have and buy a Pink Indian, then a Suzuki Vstrom is a bike you'll both be happy on. 👍
Thanks for sharing
Harleys will always be a top fav of mine. They rumble like a bass. It must have been a mind field for you guys with so many different bikes to choose from. Great vid guys, and nice to see claire warming up to riding on one. X
Hi Nina. Thanks for watching 👍👍🏍️🏍️
In the Spring, you should host a Big Friends of Atlantis Ride Test(FART) Day , and ask viewers of the Channel to come meet you and give you a little go riding the bikes you're interested in. Let's say there's 4 bikes on your list, Royal Enfield 650 Shotgun BSA Goldstar Kawasaki Versys Kawasaki 650 Vulcan Maybe some generous local Bikers might let you Test Ride them since the dealerships won't let you.👍 Good luck Bro! 👊✌️
Hi. Love the idea of a FART day 😂🏍️💨 😂😂👍👍👍
Kawasaki 650 versiy is the most underrated motorcycle on the market I will do everything you ask of it
Hi, thanks for watching
If you were considering a CF Moto, I would urge you to look at a secondhand Yamaha XT660 Tenere or MT07 or Honda Africa Twin. You'll get a great bike for £3.5k. 👍
Sounds like it’s worth looking 👍 Thanks
We have to watch what we say , but there's a German Manufacturer you mentioned, na, just stay clear of them, they're only famous for fleecing old men out of their savings and give absolutely diabolical customer service. Remember we're British lads n lassies 🇬🇧 #lwf.
Hello. Thanks for watching 👍👍
Claire likes a bad boy, you have to be her Terminator or her Dark Knight, maybe a Custom Chopper with 600 Bandit engine would be best.😂😂 Thanks for sharing! ❤✌️
Cool idea 😎
Get an adventure bike and head out on some tours it’s amazing
That’s such an exciting thought!
Great description of the Motorcycle Live Event - saves me going now!! hopefully this comment will save you lots of money going forward?! - I past my DAS 5 years ago aged 57 - since then i have had a Triumph Tiger 800 - BMW 800F - Kawasaki Versy - BMW RT 1200 - BMW S1000XR before realising that you are better off - going to the bike you 'feel & want to ride" - the one that has your personality, and at the end of the day, what exactly you want from riding a bike & being 6'2'' i have found the Triumph Rocket 3 GT (forward pegs) is the bike for me - you dont have to buy new, you can pick them up at good "Used Prices" with low mileage get a insurance quote once you have passed your DAS - it will be cheaper than changing bikes and insurers every year / 18months in the long run - If its a Harley then go for the best you can afford once rather than loosing £££'s - until then, good luck with your MOD 2
Hi. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment. Some great bikes here 👍👍
I have been doing the theory tests online for a while and I haven't failed one yet. But I am crap at riding so I have given up on the idea and moved onto other things.
Hi. Thanks for watching
Just got a black royal Enfield classic 350 for my first big bike and it looks a sounds beautiful. Easy to ride .
This is a great bike 👍 enjoy
My mind is blown that a man of your stature can hit 50 mph on a 125cc bike. That bike would really be awesome with a 450cc-500cc engine. Definitely more appropriate of an engine size for you.
😂👍😂👍😂👍
Great update:) Almost every thought about the type of bike that you want to own, I've had. At the end of the day I decided to get something that I would use to its fullest capabilities, without worrying about what I looked like on the bike. This ruled out sports bike (I don't plan on racing on a track or killing myself on the road), Adventure bike (I'm not a camper or offroad type), smaller bike (I'm 6'2" with long legs) and scooters (legs again). I settled on the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650. Very comfortable for both the rider and the pillion, with more than enough power for a great deal of fun. My advice is to work out what you will use the bike for, as well as what will make you use your bike.
Really like the super meteor 👍👍 Thanks for watching
Yamaha tracer 900 might be something you’d like. Good luck with your MOD2 🤞
Thanks 👍
Have you considered the Keeway V302C? Its just like the bike you have, but with a bigger more powerful engine. Royal Enfield Bear would be close to the top of my list. And there are some fantastic deals on new BSA gold stars at the moment.
Hi. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment 👍👍
Hi Andy and Claire great video by the way. I have a Super Meteor 650 and absolutely love it, however I am looking at trading this in for a Voge 900 dsx. Value for money with this bike is phenomenal comes with panniers and top box, engine bars, front camera, heated grips, heated seat and many more. Safe riding….👍
Sounds a good deal 👍 thanks for watching
Andy, great video. The Adventure bikes are popular as they kind of do everything - they'll keep up with most other bikes on the road, but can be used for touring etc.... Engine size is one thing, but keep an eye on the bikes weight - mine is a KTM 1290 Super Adventure S - absolutely brilliant (and quick) but heavy at 225Kg - you get all that weight going the wrong way at low speed and you could cause yourself a problem. Incidentally, me and a mate of mine (both 6'3") bought a monkey bike each 2 years ago - they are hilarious fun but I've only done about 1,000 miles in 2 years........
Hi. Thanks for watching 👍👍
Just did my geared CBT. I would say it's not enough training especially if you don't have the muscle memory to just concentrate on the road. I passed but it was way more intense than I thought it would be!
Hi. Congrats on the CBT! Ride safe 👍
Great channel guys, defo a Triumph Tiger Rally Pro for you, suit your size, off road when you want too and a great bike 🎉
Good choice!
Don’t hesitate to consider CF Moto or Voge or Kove bikes, the small early imports from China has tainted opinion, the latest bikes are made in factories that would put many European factories to shame. Quality control has come on leaps and bounds. I like the Voge 900 DX, fully loaded with tech and a full set of alu boxes for 9k. These companies make engines for KTM (CF Moto) and in the Voge case BMW. I have been involved in procurement of Chinese equipment to shipping since 1995, don’t bow to peer pressure to conform to the mainstream, from this point forward they are running scared of what is coming from China.
Hi. This is great info and I thankyou for sharing 👍👍
Hi you two, we agree with the comment..."buy with your heart" and the fact that Claire's seat should be higher than Andy's. Ours is like that and Lyn loves it on the back and being able to see. It makes her feel sick if she can't see when/where to lean etc. BMW and Ducati are very expensive to service, just like your car but the Japanese manufactured bikes are better value. Chinese are now worth a look, you should have a word with Moto GB and see if they will lend you one for a test?. The CF Moto and Voge are based on BMW engines as they are made in China not Germany. Well worth a look as they are super value. Personally I would recommend a 500cc to 700cc bike due to insurance and room for Claire on the back. Exciting times!!! Andy & Lyn.
Hi Andy and Lyn, this is all great advice thank you very much. Test rides here I come (hopefully!)
Just passed my theory using the app you recommended. It was a brilliant especially the coach mode. Thanks
Glad it was helpful! Congrats on the pass 👍👍👍👍👍 Let me know how you get on
Just sold my BMW R18, stay away from them, they depreciate really, really fast and cost a lot to service. After being a Harley fan for many years, came away due to their high price and poor quality ! I had my brand new Triumph Speedmaster, delivered on Friday, can’t wait to put some miles down on it. Claire, we love your beautiful happy smiley face so much ❤
Hello, Triumphs are awesome, let me know how you get on with it 👍👍 Claire here, Thankyou. How are you both? x
Enjoyed the video. I would look second hand rather than new. Lots of bikes get bought and barely ridden,.so low miles. On top of that, there are 2 types of rider, those that have dropped their bikes and those that are going to. I don't mean crashing, I mean dropping, easily done. A warranty isn't necessarily worth worrying about. Given you are a 3 XL an adventure bike would be more comfortable than a lot of others. You might well find your combined weight is over the limit for a lot of 650's, not that it would stop you riding but the suspension will bottom out on some roads
Hi. Thanks for watching, yes I’m thinking second hand 👍👍
Kawasaki 650 Versus....Be a good fit for a tall lad like you. Easy to ride and manoeuvre plus you can kit it for touring. Finally, plenty of ground clearance.
Sounds great! 👍
Yep, but you won't know until you try it🤔
I think Royal Enfield have really nailed it with their 650 twin engine, and you can choose from retro, classic, scrambler or cruiser, depending on what style suits you. I bought an Interceptor because it reminds me so much of my 1973 Honda CB250, but with more power and the reliability of modern technology. Oh, and the other advantage over Japanese brands? The price!
Hello. I like the Royal Enfields 👍👍
@bikerofatlantis Great channel, good luck with the test and I hope you get the right bike for you. Will be fun to follow your progress. 👍
Nice vid. Thank you. I remember Peter Kay mentioning the “fine drizzle” that soaks you through. In your case, it soaked you indirectly! Keep going lad. My first similar experience was filtering on the M25 and my back brake jammed in the middle carriageway! Two lorry drivers helped me move the bike on to the hard shoulder. Scary, but after that, I felt I could conquer most situations.
Hi. Thanks for watching and this advice Safe travels 👍👍
Only thing I'll add is not to focus on the engine size and power. They only do what you ask so if you can control your vroom joint then you'll be fine 👍🏻
Hi. This is good advice to remember. Thank you
Hi Andy & Claire 😂 Enjoyed your take on the various bikes in the show & as you mentioned Triumph I ventured to think Yeah they're still a British company but did U know where the name Triumph comes from - from the Latin triumphus - meaning achievement / success. However, I prefer the notion that it comes from the Greek thriambos, as a "hymn to Dionysus, what fun to imagine that a triumph is a song to the Greek god of party animals! ❤🎉 I've my Harley Street Glide Special now But was torn between this & the triumph thunderbird 1400 (with the twin headlights) equivalent which equally sounds the part! The thing that stopped me was that I think they had discontinued this variant if I'm not mistaken (so my concern was parts etc) but I'm enjoying my bike although on the heavy 🪨 side at 850lb - happy hunting
Hi. Thanks for watching, your bike is a great one. Happy travels 👍👍👍
All the best on your test. Don’t be worried about buying a bigger engine on your first bike if you plan to do lots of two up riding. A 650 with both of you on would be a little underwhelming
Hello. Thanks for watching and this advice 👍
I remember when the Japanese bikes were growing in popularity, everyone said it was just a flash in the pan and could not beat British bikes and look what happened. Hearing the same about the Chinese bikes, anyway your 125 is Chinese. I'm not a fan of huge bikes, for me its, 125 up to 750. I like the CB 500X. Good luck with mod2
Hi. Thanks for this 👍👍
At 67 bought my first bike, a 125 ktm. After a few months I realised it's limitations on longer journeys so took my A licence. Soon bought a 790 ktm and surprisingly the insurance was exactly the same. Nice channel, keep it up
Hello. Thanks for watching 👍👍
Hi Andy. I’m afraid Claire’s the star!
👍👍👍
Hi Andy/Claire great video again as you say you would need about 5 bikes to satisfy what you want I can really understand that👍 I have 2 bikes sat in my garage a CCM Spitfire Bobber a stunning looking bike but not much power from single pot huskavarna engine, underwhelming if I am honest but it looks lovely 👍 I also have a "china" bike a Voge adventure bike, looks the part with all the addons you could want, but a China bike which people really do not give much credit to 🤔. Don't go by what you've heard go with what you want. Enjoy the riding and when you have a full license get on some European tours you will love it, best times EVER 👍When you do get your 3 words locations back in the vids (bloox to shenzen👍)
Hi. Thanks for watching 👍 Lovely bikes
Great watch! Just done my CBT last week and just passed the theory test yesterday. DAS/A all booked in and start not this week but next! Well done on passing MOD 1 ☺️
Best of luck! 👍👍
I'm biased, love a Harley, although the new ones are renowned for poorer build and paint quality, seem to have lots of electrics problems. I have a 2003 883xlh Sportster ( carb model) and I love it to bits! Also, I thought I would be better starting off with 650 cc and working up to bigger, but went straight for the Harley ( right time, right price) and just went for it, 3 hrs riding and felt fantastic!!
Hi. Thanks for watching 👍👍
cFmoto are great bikes and amazing price for a beginner, I am new to it all and I got a royal Enfield scram just because I live in Aus and have allot of dirt road. Dream would be a triumph but dam pricey and hard to have serviced here. Buy what you can afford that makes you smile. Enjoy
Hello in Aus! I love Royal Enfields 👍👍
Go Royal Enfield meteor you will love it
👍👍
All the best for MOD 2 mate
Thank you
It doesn’t matter what you ride to the ABR festival, my first two years I took an adventure bike and last year I took a speedmaster which is more of a cruiser style, this year I took a Himalayan which is a dual sport. Also I would not take a large adventure bike around the trail without a lot of off road training first. My first off road since I was 15 was this year on the Himalayan and I dropped it on one of the sections, so it now has some battle scars but at least I hadn’t spent upwards of £14K on it.
Hi, thanks for watching 👍
Claire should definitely try bikes herself. Then you can ride together in LEATHER
👍👍
I've ridden harleys for 20yrs, they are solid reliable and servicing is fine at independent garages, main delears charge fortunes..... but in 20yrs ive never spent more than routine services on any of my bikes, and I've been all over europe with no problems at all.
Sounds awesome
I'd trust a CF Moto before I trusted a Triumph to get me home....shocking build quality
Thanks for watching
Hi Andy, passed my test back in May this year and did exactly what you say, bought the bike with my heart! I ended up going for a Yamaha Tracer 900 GT. Great practical bike but with the power and handling to be plenty of fun as well. I was going to go for something with about half the power but decided on this one because I’m less likely to become bored after a year or so and it’s only as fast as you ride it!! Enjoying watching your journey and look forward to maybe bumping into you at Squires some time!!
Hi. It’s gotta be with the heart! See you in Squires 👍 Safe riding
Fun vid. When Ur looking to buy your bike do some research. The issue I had was most places would not let me test ride without having been riding for 1 or even 2 years. I'm down in Somerset and Fowler's in Bristol which is a massive store with all the main manufactures would let me out on rest rides and was able to try 3 bikes I liked. A Triumph. Honda and Kawasaki. I hear their not the best cos their so large but being g able to test ride was essential to me and I got a great deal on the Kawasaki I bought. But making some calls to see where u can test ride is something I can do while u wait and it's to wet to ride.
Hi. Thanks for watching 👍👍
You missed the best of Motorcycle Live....10yrs ago, it was a great day out. It's a shadow of its former self now
Hi. We had a great time 👍👍
Great video. If I was a younger man, I’d be looking at a Triumph Trident as a middleweight. Great engine, 660 triple. Keep up the good work.
Thanks 👍
Hello from the US, I love your channel and I am really enjoying watching your journey. I second the Triumph Rocket 3, I bought a used 2022 Rocket 3R in September. I love it! It's big beautiful beast of a motorcycle. If you want to cruise and just take it easy and enjoy the ride it will do that no problem. If you want to see if you can rip your arms out of socket by hammering the throttle, it will do that too. It is a beautiful refined motorcycle, until you twist the throttle. Then it becomes a beast. It puts a smile on my face every time I ride! Looking forward to more great content from you guys.
Hi Jim. Thanks for watching our videos 👍 Love to hear you are watching from the US
