Why didn't you use the genuine floor panel & cut the repro panel down & weld it to the genuine panel?

I’ve had nothing but headaches with my own mk5 transit and the replacement panels. Very similar issue with inner arches. I’d splice in about an inch strip so the inner arches would meet up with the outer arches 😡 so frustrating

Repro panels are notorious, artisans at work no problem. Difficult and complex work, but you just know it’s going the be super high quality at the end. Worth every penny.

What an absolute shed load of extra work. The reproduction panel situation is a joke, particularly taking into account what they cost. A few years ago I restored a MK3 Golf Gti. I bought new inner and outer rear wheel arch repair panels from the same company (Klokkerholm). Before fitting them to the car I tried to fit them to each other and they were 20mm out. You would think someone would try this at the factory before selling them. I reckon that floor pan was for a different year of van possibly?

Keep going as it is too late to push it out side. Not easy been there done that.

You don't come across as particularly exasperated, despite the provocation of the poor fit of the repro panels. In your position I would have pushed the whole thing into the corner of the workshop and gone home! Interesting video. Thanks for posting it.

I would be tempted to fetch it back out,and split and fillet it down the middle.

Oof not ideal touching the panel with greasy hands before applying product. With a bit more skilled work with the spoon and hammer that dent should have needed any filler..just high build primer and a touch of 2 pack stopper if neccesary

Nice early example. Watching from Issan, north-east Thailand. That front bumper came off nice and easy! Need my XJ-S in UK painted but saving up first! No doubt it'll cost a small fortune! Regards.

to davidlouis (especially) ....for aftermarket wings that don't meet the specifications with huge gaps...having to rebend the curves to fit...i think it makes the rebuild the most awesome i can remember...what craftmanship...i can't imagine how they did that...beautiful restore...i'm not a car driver nor have i ever been...i'm a lifetime biker...and love classic bikes...so i appreciate classic cars too...if i was a car enthusiast owner there's nothing better than one of these Jaguars...i won't go into the 68 accidents/crashes i've had in nearly 50 years of biking...and the scars to prove it...i survived...now i'm a pensioner...and still ride...at least for a few more years i hope...i won't be riding into my late 70's or 80's if i'm still here...i don't believe we have the abilities at that time of life...decision making/sharpness and brain to limbs coordination deteriorates with age...eyesight is often mentioned but that's the least of it (in my case)...my eyes are my best asset...it's the mind that is the weakest link...and others that do ridiculous moves on the roads and highways of Britain...i've now left north London after 68 years in the Capital...i live in the "Broads" less traffic and no traffic jams no road raging that i see...just what i need in retirement

I redid 2 of these but they were much worse after sitting in a field for many years These also like to rust on lower hinge pillars behind the fenders This could be a very labor intensive repair as things are likely going to keep showing up Once done the driving experience is amazing, always getting comments everywhere we go

This is going to be really good! Love a ‘59, seen a few over the years, most are like this - 10ft cars, superficially good with a litany of quite serious problems lurking. Nice to see the owners investing the time and money into this one and it being restored properly. Are you guys at the NEC next week?
