Had one of these paid £25 for it in 1982 as it had a big end gone. £90 to repair it and ran it for a year had to scrap it as sills rotted out . One of a dozen fords I wish I had kept.
(I was visiting my big sister in S.A. When the Sweeney was number one on tv). It was really weird hearing John Thaw and Dennis Waterman speaking dubbed Africans!
Another great video thanks! Wondering if you can please give your views on chemical dipping vs hard graft (paint stripper etc) for removing paint, in a future vid? Cheers!
@@stephenhowell5611 it is important that it is applied on to an epoxy based. Once blocked, we bake the body again and then leave in the booth for the morning at around 30 degrees prior to epoxy sealing and priming.
I mean you can’t fault the workmanship it’s always amazing. But man. That’s someone with a love for the car. The body work and paint have to be as much or more for what it’s really a pretty basic car. Rare or not.
Stunning job, would love to see the finished car built.
I love seeing old fords being given the kiss of new life, excellent work 👍
Excellent work! Amazing that The Sweeney screeched onto our screens half a century ago...
Awesome body/paintwork, stunning looking car and colour, proper 70’s 👍
What a pleasure it is to watch professional people save another 70’s classic.
Nice job. I absolutely love that colour!
Superb work,& great to see another saved.
Fantastic job.
What an absolutely beautiful job you guys have done of that your workmanship is superb
Paint work, incredible. I think if Ford offered that finish today, it would be a couple of thousand on the list price !.
That shell looked to be a perfect candidate for a resto.
I love the mk1 Granada and consul they remind me of my childhood love to own a 3.0 ghia one day

I did have a genuine consul GT
Daytona yellow BVR
But it was hanging
About 10 year's ago
Love that colour!
Great video. Camera work and descriptions on screen says it all
I had a white one of these in the 1980s. Ghia with vinyl roof. Great car. 2.0 pinto. Air vent in C pillar rusted through.
My first car was a Mk1 Escort in that colour
Great job.
That was the colour of my dad’s Ghia estate! 👍😁
Great work, beautiful colour.
Nice work men👍
Very nice, thanks for the video.

There’s a place in Scotland importing classic Fords from there.
fantastic colour

Looking great till the camera panel repair section in the boot is that the best could be done
Hope we see it once fitted out.
Fancy going to all that trouble and painting it green.
Four door Consul GT was mainly aimed squarely at the Police market
“Get your trousers on, you’re nicked!”
That looks such a awkward shell to spray, so many nooks and crannies, and different angles. I wouldn't have the patience!
Fantastic work , be proud of yourselves, is that solvent base or water base?
I used polyester years ago but I stopped due to water ingress, giving rise to tiny bubbles in the finish, is this stuff better ? Lovely job anyway.

My dad had 1 but I wanted to get the posh ghia granada
Hi, what product was used for blasting the car? I thought that roof panels and wings doors couldn't be blasted due to distortion.
Check out our video on blasting VS acid dipping :)
They were very fast in the 70s
🤗❤️👍💯👏
I love these cars. Shame so many have been destroyed in banger racing, and others just sat rotting.
Oh! The Sexiest Ford EVER!!!
Sorry got to ask the cost😊
We cant state that :) The owner is on here - if he wishes to divulge, thats up to him. Not fair of us to do that though.
@@paintingclassiccars I agree
Ps does look a tasty job
