UV is the #1 enemy for tire sidewalls. We have used Renew Protect since we bought the tires in early 2021, we have put about 30,000 miles on them, spend all year on the road in high sun areas of the country and they still look brand new. Tires are a major expense and investment in your safety, make sure you protect them! We get no incentive from Renew Protect for the videos that we have done, its simply a great product. #renewprotect #rv #rvliving #rvmaintenance #rvlife #rvlifestyle #rvtires

Understanding your Tire Date Codes
มุมมอง 347 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
What is a tire date code, and why is it so important? If you have a travel trailer, 5th wheel or a multi-million dollar coach, there is one thing that will stop everyone of them in their tracks, leave you stranded or even cause a catastrophic and potentially deadly accident. A tire blowout. # rvlife #rvliving #rv #rvmaintenance #rvtires #tiredatecode

    Great video. I hate doing this job so much. In 3 years full-timing I think I've had to do this about 6 times. I've had enough and plan to use a hole saw and cut an opening right near the bottom adjustment nut and cover it with a plug I bought a while ago for specifically this. Thank you for making this video to remind me exactly where to cut so I don't have to take the door apart for this one more time. Although, before I even had a chance to do this (and another unrelated project on the RV) our front door interior entry handle just snapped in two while I was attempting to exit. Now I have three projects to take care of. At least I recently finished four other projects, and three of them were even successful. So, three or four down, three to go. Hopefully I can finish these three before three more pop up, because even as I am typing this, I can already think of a few more projects that need doing.

For some reason they used phillips head screws instead of the combo square/phillips ones. Even broke the tip of my phillips impact bit in one of them, even after using some penetrating oil. Very frustrating. So very much looking at the idea of just drilling a couple access holes. Question on what size and of course best location. cheers!

      @@scottabell1263 That's wild. Makes me wonder if someone had replaced the screws with some that had the wrong threads and they are basically fused with the frame now. The screws should come right out without a problem. If they start to strip, the square bits can still be used if you get just the right size so it doesn't strip more. I hope this helps!

I set the air pressure to the impact wrench down and let the impact induced vibration work the penetrant into the bolt, and break the corrosion loose. @SuperSushidog ปีที่แล้ว

    Sweet job! That sure is a professionally set-up system. I just found your channel and subscribed. We are boondocking in Sutherland, NE now and will be visiting the wall for the first time Sunday. We're retired FT RVers who love to boondock most of the time. We decided to build our solar system in 2 phases, a 12v basic phase to run all our 12v appliances and a 48v system for our AC high power needs. This also gives us some redundancy, so if one phase goes down, we've got a back-up. The main issue we faced is we are retired and living on social security and a small pension so have to do everything on a tight budget forgoing name brand components like Battleborn and Victron for lesser-known brands and must do all the work ourselves - which keeps getting harder as we age. We just completed the first phase in January, with the addition of a custom built 560ah of LiFePo-4 battery, made with 8, 280ah prismatic cells. We used a Heltec 350amp BMS, to start the 5,500watt generator in our motorhome, along with a 5a active balancer. We built our 12v battery with grade "A" LiFePo-4 prismatic cells having a 6,000 cycle manufacturer projected life at 100% DOD. This means that if we cycled them 100% every single day, 365 days a year, they would last over 16 years! They're obviously going to wear out from age before they wear out from cycling. It only cost us $1,500 to build this 560ah battery, including the high amp BMS. The main reason we chose these cells (other than their price and quality) is that they fit perfectly under the steps of our motorhome where our old pair of GC-2 golf cart batteries used to reside, saving 35lbs while having over 5 times the energy storage capacity. We insulated the battery compartment, cut a 1" hole in our step risers and installed a tiny computer CPU fan to keep this space at close to room temperature. We started our build 4 years ago with a 620-watt liftable array mounted on the side of our motorhome. It serves as a nice bedroom window awning too. It practically lifts itself to the desired angle with a couple gas struts and it's easy to clean with a windshield squeegee, standing safely on the ground. Lifting an array to the correct angle for latitude and month, produces 25-30% more power than a flat mounted array - even more in winter when the sun is low on the horizon. This first phase, including the liftable array, wiring, breakers, a new Progressive Dynamics 80a Li compatible converter/charger, 600w PSW inverter (to run our TV and PC), an Epever 50a MPPT controller, a Lnex battery monitor/shunt, and a Renogy battery to battery charger (to protect the alternator) cost us around $3,600. We'll be starting phase 2 soon. By mounting our current solar array on the side of our MH, we left the roof free to rack 8, 460W bifacial solar panels in a single row down the length of our 35ft Class A. If you're not familiar with bifacial panels, the front side of these is rated at 460 watts with up to 25% additional wattage output from reflected light on the back side, for a total of up to 575 watts, depending on how they are mounted. We will be racking ours about 13" off the roof to clear our front AC shroud and vents. This clearance should conservatively produce another 10% output off the back of these bifacial panels, from sunlight reflected off our white roof - more during off-peak hours and in the winter. It will give us some nice shade too, reducing the heat load on our air conditioners. Rather than buying individual components, we will be using an all-in-one 48V, 5,000W, 120V PSW Inverter, 80a MPPT charge controller with a 40a ac battery charger by Sungold Power. The reason we chose this all-in-one is because the idle power consumption is only 25 watts - and it's only $800. Our 48v battery bank will use 16, 310ah prismatic cells (15.9Kwh.) So together with our 560ah (7.1 Kwh)12v bank, we will have a total of 23Kwh of batteries onboard. We will be replacing our old rear 13.5k btu rooftop Dometic AC with a super high-efficiency 12k Btu 48v DC mini-split heat pump that only draws 750 watts at peak output and less than 500 watts when it's cooling normally. This second phase will cost about $10k, including the heat pump. Our 2nd phase will provide 24/7 off-grid air conditioning and supplemental heat from the heat pump and allow occasional use of our new Furrion front rooftop AC to cool things down for peak afternoon demand, as well as give us whole house 120v ac power. This will allow us to keep our generator in reserve for emergency use only.

    Yep, I have a Tire Minder TPMS. I would guess your rooter was a lot hotter then when you got back to check it with your temp gun. Just a hint, run your car tires 5 psi within the max pressure on the tire. Less friction so they run cooler and last longer. Did you find out why your caliper was hanging up?

    • @2ustravels77
      @2ustravels77 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did a little mechanical sleuthing lol, and THIS is why we are not a bigger channel 😂 I even told Joy that we should be recording this, but I am way too "in the moment" and focused on fixing the issue, the big guys have several GoPros going ALL THE TIME lol, we do not. For me, I'd have to dig it all out, get the proper tripod for the proper angle etc etc etc, maybe someday I'll be there... Back to your question, using the temperature gun I checked everything, bearings, driveshaft, caliper, rotor (BOTH in and out sides) and the pads, (BOTH in and outsides) the inside pad and inside rotor surface were far hotter than anything else. I jacked the car up took the tire off, popped the caliper off, seated both pistons back in the caliper and reassembled. I kept a good eye on that temp, pulled over about a 1/2 hr. later and rechecked with the temp gun. I have no idea why it happened, it hasn't happened since. The car is a 2012 CR-V, but... May of last year, 2022, I replaced ALL the pads, calipers AND rubber flex hoses (now that I type this, I'm wondering if the flex hose got pinched, HIGHLY unlikely, but outside of dirt in the piston not allowing it to retract fully, I have absolutely no idea what happened, so I'll be checking that)

I apologize for the delay in replying, even though we have StarLink (which is AWESOME btw) when you're in the woods with crappy Verizon, T-Mobile and of course, campground WiFi service... lol Here is the video of the 10 month review that I did. Short story long... WE LOVE IT. We should reapply after 6 or so months, but a year is what us lazy folk do... We still have our original order, so, its done the tires 2X which is 2 coats of the BLK and 2 of the SATN (I think) AND, Ive used it on the rubber, plastic and seats on the Goldwing with fantastic results. I will be redoing it very soon with the original bottles, the tires still look great, of course not as great as when they were first done, I would share a picture, but its raining and we drove in on a muddy road lol th-cam.com/video/Mv3VV1UwENg/w-d-xo.html
