The Highest Mountain I've EVER Hiked...
In today's video I am in Scotland hiking the highest mountain I've ever done.
After having food poisoning just 2 days before this already difficult mountain was going to be a lot harder than planned.
Our route started just outside Crianlarich from here the summit was only 3km away but in that distance there is over 1000 metres of climbing!

In today's video I am in Scotland to complete my first ever Munro. Spoiler - it didn't go to plan. Our route started in Crianlarich with our highest summit been Cruach Ardrain - 3,432 feet. But cloud made things a little more difficult than it should have been. MY GEAR: This gear list contains affiliate links. Bratislava Travel Guide - Watch Before You Travel

You need to watch this video before you travel to the capital city of Slovakia, Bratislava. In May, I travelled to the Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia and in my opinion one of the most overlooked cities in Europe. I spent a few days exploring the impressive old town, castles and incredible scenery the area had to offer. I created this Bratislava travel guide so you have an idea of the best ...
Hiking in Keswick - Avoid Catbells, do THIS instead!
มุมมอง 22321 วันที่ผ่านมา
In today's video I am in the Lake District. Today's walk ticks off 2 wainwrights. Starting not far out of Keswick, these mountains are less popular than some of the surrounding fells. In my opinion this walk is more rewarding than the nearby infamous Catbells. Not only will you experience less foot traffic and similar views. There is a lovely stream that runs alongside you on your ascent. Follo...

This HIDDEN Castle is a MUST-SEE...

I booked the cheapest flight I could find and ended up in Day 3 & 4. On our 3rd day we headed out of Bratislava to the town of Stupava. Here we had a longer than planned walk up 1000 feet to a castle. From the top of this hidden gem, we were rewarded with some amazing views. On our final day we visited Slavin Monument before heading to the airport and finishing our trip. MY GEAR: This gear list...

You need to do a navigation course, map and compass are the best outdoor gadgets you can buy! 💙
Yeah, possibly. I know how to use a map and compass and always carry one. The problem was that there were no paths on the map. Might look into a course to help me navigate when I come across these circumstances.
@@uptosummit_ It'll definitely help you pick out features take bearings and that way you can follow a heading. Not a dig at all. Love the channel. 💙
Keep going lad keep going!! 👍
Àà
Will do mate👍
That is not "modern" look of the castle. That is real look from era of Maria Theresa when it waa rebuilt from fort to palace. It was comon to paint castles or houses in white as it was fashion. Europe houses /castles are different to the Uk.
Very interesting, I didn't know that, thanks!
I see you're above tree line. that's not bad.
It´s a hill mate.... UK dont have mountains
Can you point me in the direction of the definition of a mountain in which Ben More would not be considered a mountain?
@@uptosummit_ 😁 in Sweden we have real mountains.. you are welcome here.. but if you really like trekking then I recommend you go to Nepal and do the ABC trekk.. anaphurna bace camp.. most beautiful thing I ever done
@@user-nl9kd7up6z Haha, it's still a real mountain but I take your point. Hopefully I'll be travelling abroad to do some bigger mountains later this year. Thanks for your suggestions, ABC trek looks amazing!
'wohhamelun' subscribed very based channel
Haha, thanks for subscribing!
Well done! 😊
Thank you!
Spectacular views, well worth the slog uphill with your pals ,well done! Perfect weather for it! Hope you continue getting better after your illness.
Couldn't have asked for better weather. I'm all recovered now, thanks!
"stob corry byou-ee"
Thanks, at that point, I had lost the effort to try pronounce it properly, haha
Was there watching the famous Glasgow Rangers, lovely Country.
Glad you enjoyed it!
You need to get out more 😂
Any suggestions for places to go?
Yes, in 2018. Amazing city. Great view of the city from the castle.
The castle definitely has some of the best views of the city!
And no muzl imz!!
Nice video anyway 🙂👍
Thanks mate👍
@@uptosummit_ 👍🙂
I have wanted to go since watching Eurotrip!
You should go!
yes i allways have a few 7.5% ipa,s when im out wild camping and tell your m8 to get that S off camara
Can't beat good views with a drink!
them sheep r probably eating that rice you dropped and you got my napal 65 there mines red thou😊
Haha probably, and ye the nepal did me well, I recently upgraded to an Osprey Kestrel 68
Looks so nice for climbing
Ye, you could definitely get a long way up it
Come to california some bigass trees over here 🤣
Hopefully one day haha
pretty thick for an average tree! but you've got to go see the redwoods in person if you really want to see a thick tree. still a gnarly (pun intended) tree though
I'd love to see the redwoods one day
Bedgeburry forest in Kent has redwoods that has branches bigger than the whole tree😊
I'll have to check that out!
Flat earthers are thicker.
😂
You haven't travelled much🤔
I don't usually go to many forests to be honest, got any recommendations?
This video didnt really show the tree off enough needed skower shots and more size comparisons
Ye I know, wasn't really planning on making a short at the time so didn't get the best shorts
Sherwood forest has trees way bigger 😊
Just had a quick Google and they look huge!
Why would they have u out caving for the 1st time with no helmet? They don't love bro, go home and stay home. No new friends
Nice english mate!
Looking to get one for my son to go to the lakes with on the 16th August till the beginning of September it be good enough at high elevation as I do not want him getting cold. And have you used the bag again after this vid. Many thanks 👍
Yes, I've used it nearly 10 times now. The only complaint I have about it is that the feathers come out. That being said, it still keeps me warm, I used it last night at 2500 feet high.
@uptosummit_ ok cool thanks for your reply 👍
Looks fantastic!
It's a lovely spot!
Have you camped here? Let me know⬇️
Quite right mate . If the job is pants just tell them to fxxk off. Lifes to short . Well im mate . Plenty other jobs out there should you ever want one
Exactly mate, got to live your life!
A good man
There a lot of companies do ghyll scrambling trips up that beck (stoneycrift gill). You would pass loads of groups doung that if it were a weekend. 1:02
I didn't know about that. I assume they wouldn't head right up to the summits.
@uptosummit_ no. They do start quite far up though, where the beck is deep enough to get in. There's a lot of plunge pools, falls, slides etc. Hence why they use that particular beck is very popular for ghyll scrambling
Yeah, makes sense. Thanks for the info.
Can I ask what day of the week you did this walk? Was it quiet because it was mid week?
I think it was on a Thursday. This walk is a quieter walk than Catbells, though.
I'm so jealous that you live that close to this scenery. But I'm guessing you have an older relative or friend that got you into this outdoor hobby. Good to see how that investment pays off.
The Lake District is around 2-3 hours from me, hopefully one day I can live in it! Yes, my parents got me into walking from a young age.
@@uptosummit_ I was born in Stockport, and with family in the lakes and south of there, but I'm now down on the south coast, coming here as a student, and with only the chalky South Downs as my walking space. No Wainwrights down here! With your channel, more camping, YHA hostel, and local pub visit videos please. (They would cross the generations and the human interest, just saying, because you are a natural at presenting. ) On topic, there has to be a tech solution to the sweaty back, t shirt issue. It's either about the backpack, or else it's about what is worn, and how that material wicks out sweat.
@@billyinwaves Thanks, I'll keep in mind your suggestions for future videos. I have 1 camping video ready to edit. Now waiting for some better weather so I can do my first multi-day wild camp.
Good video mate and love your enthusiasm. We all need to get fitter for the lakes 👍
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed the video!
Subtotal hike how many km
I can't remember exactly, I think between 15 and 20km
We hike today already
Camelpak is the answer 😊
I'll have a look into them
Especially if it’s cold af outside and you temporarily freeze your ass off 2k feet from the summit 😂😂😂.
I know haha , nothing worse
I always thought the worst feeling was when I slung my backpack back on and that bear took a chunk outta my a**.
Idk, I like bear or is it bare butts 😂😂
@@slickdaddy6073 on the bright side, once I healed I could slip right into those jeans I thought I'd outgrew...
Luckily, in England, so no bears to worry about haha
Ain’t Trollers Gill …..it’s Trow Ghyll
You're right, always getting mixed up between the 2
Thanks for sharing, great video! Will be heading there for that climb later this month and you've reassured me Striding Edge is do-able :-) Cheers again, happy hiking!
No problem, I'm sure you'll have a great time!
This is well captured, for the climbing action, but you need to add human interest - be that camping or cooking or common human needs, or other people stuff. When film making, the human element is what draws us in.
Yeah, I usually have other elements to the video. I just uploaded this for people who are considering doing this ridge. That way, they can see if it's something they would like to do.
Is the castle dog friendly?
I believe dogs are allowed as long as they're on a lead
I love a good mountain ridge hike, but I don’t have the balls for that one! Amazing views!
It's the best ridge I've done so far, glad you enjoyed!
Outstanding filming and editing my friend!
Thanks mate!
It definitely takes courage and balls to make a change and make a fresh start with something new! Enjoy the journey!
Thanks, I appreciate you watching mate!
Mad respect to you for having the balls to adventure travel the way that you do!
Thanks, that's what life's all about!
It’s certainly the most dramatic in the Lakes, well done!
Yeah, the views looking back over striding edge are incredible, thanks!
well it was a secret hole
It has done me well! In cold temperatures. I think your last point at the end is what people forget, if you don't have a winter sleeping pad it doesn't matter how good your sleeping nag is you will be cold as most of your heat is lost to the ground. Thanks 👍 Rob
It's still doing me well so far. Thanks for watching!
