a good and creative musician can get just about anything our of an instrument, and this being a 4 voice synth, a good musician could absolutely do great ambient music with this in their pallet....

I’m actually trying to get the s-1 soon. I mainly make soundscape style music and this is a good synth for that. It’s nice to see it used for ambient. Actually found your videos through research lol. Nice song though! Very simple and shows off some of what this tiny synth can do

Aiwa? That's a company that ceased to exist before many of your viewers were born. Good exterior design and crappy quality inside, compared to Sony and even Panasonic. Technique is all but new (e.g. William Basinski's "Disintegration Loops"), but I wouldn't use a crappy recorder with Type I tape, even less the microcassette, which limits the fidelity and dynamic range of your audio to its worst. If you want a tape effect, use the digital filter for it; your listener won't know the difference. Nor care. The microcassette has a very limited frequency range; I think it's about 200Hz to 5kHz, meaning you can replace your recorder with a noise generator. And that's another tip: instead of a cassette recorder, use your computer or the phone / tablet. And play something on the loop, through filters, if needed. Or even generate it. Be creative.

Hello, I need your help, how to connect this device to the synthesizer, the synthesizer has a midi input and output, there is a cord, on one side a midi jack, on the other a 3mm jack. But they do not react to each other. I can not understand what the reason is.

I'd avoid the Roland S-1. It does not support MIDI Volume (CC07), making automated mixing impossible. Roland really screwed up this time

Really enjoy your drone tutorials, thank you. I have purchased the hardware (Monotron Delay & Duo, mixer & a multi effects pedal) and all is connected as suggested. I am a total beginner to electronic music. Prior to powering up, please advise me on the ‘starting position’, ie where the knobs are positioned on each of the Monotrons. Eg in the ‘off’ position to the left, half way ‘on’ with the little arrow pointing up, or a combination of these positions)?
