I would argue that calling it a season pass implies that you have a pass for all content in the 1st season.. im amazed that this dosent fall under false advertisment. They never explicitly said it would be free, yes. but they also never said it would be paid, they did however, call the season pass a season pass
The problem is that it was called a character pass not a season pass and in the description it stated it was just for the characters. There isn't really any false advertising. They even did show that genmaji wasn't going to be free when they were showing off the new content in the update.
@@rx.78 so it was, i had to check wayback machine to see if they changed anything, but they havent, seems theres some kinda mandela effect here lol, i coulda swore i saw season pass when i bought it
@@OGBananaSplitz It feels like the charatcer pass along with the stages should have been part of the Deluxe/Ultimate editions since there is no character pass or stage pass being sold seperately.
@@OGBananaSplitz Same shit happens with capcom, everyone kept saying they'll do a patch at the end of the season and then capcom said "what seasons?" Seasons for games was original used in same ways as sports, each league season came with a huge patch and people not just think any big change to a game means its a new "season" its fuckign stupid and has lead to this people not reading and assuming shit. Their marketing was still terrible but fuck me people are complaining about a season pass that doesn't exist
I still think the biggest problem in all of this is related to the communication, when sony shown the price of ps5 pro, in the last frames they show that " the vertical stand was sold separately". Even they received some backlash for the general pricing, no one even mention the stand (for a million of different reasons like price and disc reader). But now imagine if the community would have discover separately that the stand was sold separately, it would have brough a massive uproar from the people! CLEAR communication is what Tekken needs the most!
This is an odd situation cause i can see where most sides are coming from. I think i sympathize more with people saying the character pass should have been a season pass instead moreso than people who feel that they were lied to cause in all honesty they werent. The description for the character pass even before the game released didnt include stages and the tekken talks didnt list genmaji in the free section the same way the beach stage was. It was clear for a while genmaji would be paid for. I dont think it was a good decision, but i feel saying they lied about that would be dishonest. If harada is telling the truth and the problem stems from him not maintaining tight control over the production team, then i just hope he really does a thorough restructuring of the business model of tekken 8 to be a bit less monetization heavy.
i thought i bought a SEASON pass including everything that was released for the first season. If i had knew it was only a character pass i would have skipped. A good reminder to read well it seems but they destroyed my good will and season 2 pass is a no go for me now.
Honestly, I was quite surprised it wasnt include with the deluxe and ultimate edition. I hope they really clarify things from the start so we dont get anything confusions like this again.
Partially he has some responsibilities IMO, he is the head of the Tekken Project, something more could have been done, hopefully something more is going to be done!
@@TheGianGame Yeah this is a tough one. Was really pissed to find out the stage has a price tag on it. Not sure if Harada could influence the game's monetization however. At least now they will probably reconsider things when it comes to adding new stages.
and just like he's off the hook? they wrote "this does not include full game" for the upgrade pack but can't write "doesn't include every stage DLC?" like come on they majorly fucked this up.
He is not off the hook, I just try not to see things as black or white, If at the beginning of S2 there is not going to be a solid change into the game, things are going to look very dark for Tekken!
so the approach of ruining balance, tekken cardinal rules, basic tekken gameplayprinciples and the overal unga bunga nonsense spam agression approach to appeal to casuals was also a developer decision? im not buying it... this game is trash compared to its predecessor
I bought ultimate edition, i bought season 1 pass, i bought every battle pass and bought most of the customization to support the developpers but the stage being another hidden fee made me ill. Fuck you Bamco for trying some EA level greed. All it has done is spoil my good will toward you and slow my spending. Its a step too far
them playing word games with season pass and character pass is annoying i spent the big bucks for their ultimate edition i shouldnt be getting fucked over you dont get access to battle pass, new stages or anything except characters i dont think ill be spending my money here nothing against harada but i see all the numbers of players going down but they keep doubling down on these things i just want to play tekken its not like we paid a liiiittle less its like 110 usd so enjoy that much bamco you aint getting anything more...
I'm positively shocked honestly, as someone from the same industry, Harada promising to restructure is a huge thing.
Would you like to elaborate this on discord?

It's filthy, and dirty I'm not surprised
To be fair I think the bigger crime is that that fundoshi is on the premoim fight pass

Great video The Gian! Im really hoping they start releasing season 2 maps with the character pass...i will not buy the genmaji stage sadly.
I think rather that give out stage into the season pass, they will start to be more clear with the communication!
