What's wrong with Duolingo, and what app(s) do you recommend?
Really interesting convo thanks guys
the funfact is mostly people download and use duo for ths goofy part
Hello Mikel, I appreciate your effort on this topic. I have been using a similar method to the one you mentioned about learning words with flashcards. When reading a book or other material, I highlight unfamiliar words and continue reading until I finish the passage. However, my main goal is to achieve fluency in speaking. I am not sure if it is possible to improve speaking fluency through "comprehensive reading." Do you have any suggestions for that? (Please note that I don’t have anyone to practice speaking with, neither a tutor nor a friend.)
Dude says that comprehensible input won't teach you to speak well. If his techniques are so good, why is his English so bad? I can barely understand several words.
I only comprehend the things I already know -DUH! There is no way to learn a foreign language without inborn talent, something ~95% of all people lack
2 very different people but just happen to have to same hyper focus
Great content, bro! What's the program you use to record your screen? Thx in advance, brother! 😁👍🏻
Sounds like good advice, I'll definitely add this to my routine. Do you have any lists of general topics? I'll make islands for my interests in science, sports, and music, but I don't want to accidentally overlook anything basic.
Gracias! It helps me for my Spanish
I forgot the Ñ. The Ñ is to the N what the LL is to the L. Easiest way to get it right is to pronounce them as "nye", "nya" etc.
I have heard another teacher say it's very similar to the first N in English "onion" -- do you agree with that advice?
1000 Per day ?
Any coupon code for your program? 😁
Absolutely not true. I did the duolingo course for german and when I went to austria I could have pretty much full Conversations, and after mabye 1 week of being there I was basically perfect.
i study 11 language aside from english and my native tagalog
Great stuff! is that excel spreadsheet available to download?
It's great to get your input and thanks for that. But it's only a bit irresponsible to say "the ONLY" excercises. There isn't just the "one thing" you repeat over and over again that will lead you to fluency. You need to do different stuff for that. Again, really nice excercises, but at the same time they aren't the only ones.
I think that's nonsense because the term "polyglot" already specifies that a person speaks three or more languages. There's no need for a word like "hyperpolyglot". And people who speak 2 languages are bilingual. If you want to use the term "hexaglot" to specify that you speak 6 languages, I think it's also valid in English (I'm not sure) and makes sense.
Polyglot means you speak 4 languages or more, not 3 or more. A person who speaks 3 languages is trilingual
@@honzarubes2103 Nop. According to Cambridge, it's "speaking or using SEVIRAL different languages". In other words, 3 or more languages. And yes, a person who speaks 3 languages is trilingual and a polyglot too. And a person who speaks only 4 languages is colled "quadrilingual" or "tetralingual" and that person is also a polyglot.
Hola Mikel! Are you going to be posting your update on your Japanese 3-Month Challenge? Really looking forward to that!
Please make the tutorial! 🙏
Y tu reto con el japonés?
Lo dejó, es un mediocre creyendo que solo por estudiar de memoria y sin focar en la pronuncia va a hablar bien un idioma JAJAJA
Where do you get ressources for the excel and can we find your excel sheets?
Still waiting on the jp update your 3 months have passed
Where can I find the excel sheet?
Who knows how to quickly create an audio file for a given row and add it to the last column? It would be amazing!
Nice interview and good tips and cloze deletion. I am collecting some resources to start Spanish and I have got an anki deck with 9000 sentences with cloze deletion and native audio. This will be very useful to learn sentence patterns, vocab and shadowing all in one. This with a new language island every day for 100 days should work out nicely.
zu*sagen is used in Microsoft Outlook in German for accepting an invitation … the noun form - die Zusage is also fine to use … אַ דאַנק
Mikel what app do you use to get your sentence to repeat 5x. I presume you're not manually clicking repeat! Carpal tunnel anyone!! Also is TTS maker still your preferred AI for audio files?
14:20 "Ich hab dich lieb" is something you hear basically everywhere and it's not necessarily a dialectal thing. It just means a more moderate variation of "Ich liebe dich", which sounds somewhat stronger.
I see that you use Google Sheets for sentences. I’m curious how you practice, since you’d need a synchronized way to keep track of all the sentences. Plus, when listening to an audio file, it’s important to know exactly where you are, especially if you stop and then resume. Without numbers preceding the sentences, it might be hard to find your place again - audio files with many sentences can get quite long!
Yes
About 3 times as many people in Scotland speak Polish at home than speak Gaelic.
Very interesting conversation
Good conversation. Hopefully you reach out to other channels/polyglots and get more guests on the channel.
How do you create audio files for listening to these prompts on the flash cards? I think Anki Pro has a speech to text function but ive noticed the pronunciation isn't always the best?
I tried it already and it really works. I would like to add one additional thing. That's using IPA's. The pronunciation improves so fast with international phonetics alphabets.
how would you applied it to exercises shown here, where you have sentences literally in spreadsheet form?
@ianicius that's a very good question. The way I do is by using Chatgpt. I copy all the German sentences and paste it into Chatgpt with the prompt please provide all the IPA's of these sentences.
You're totally right I did it and I got lots of recall and conclusions 💯
hello you are lying my cousin used duoling and is very good at french now, stop wasting your time by insulting other apps, Duoling helps you understand that language you still need to watch french shows and other stuffs then duoling helos a lot, it is great you are just a guy who is insulting duoling, who paid you to do it, duoling is not famous for nothing, it is very very very good.
