SIB Fishing UK At Its Best + Catch & Cook
The waters off Lands End offer some of the best fishing in the UK, the reefs are filled with life and a proper variety of species. The tricky part is getting there. In this video I undertake the 15 mile journey from Hayle, this is no small feat on an inflatable and the tide, weather and daylight hours have to be considered.
The fishing did not disappoint and once I got through the dense shoals of pollock I was able to catch one of my favourite UK species the Couches bream. I’ve really enjoyed the pursuit of this fish on lure and in my opinion they really are king of the reef.

SIB Fishing Set Up 2024 How To Transport and Improve Performance
มุมมอง 6Kหลายเดือนก่อน
I’ve owned several inflatable boats that have been used for fishing, over the years I’ve had to experiment and find out what makes a good SIB and what equipment is needed for a comfortable day afloat. The past six months I have used the 380 aluminium deck boat from Maelstrom products. I have settled on this boat for its ability to withstand heavy conditions and constant use. I want to share my ...
Catching Huge Squid Inflatable Boat Fishing UK
มุมมอง 6K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
I’ve been waiting for the opportunity to fish some new ground offshore and a spell of decent weather meant I had to get out and see what could be found on lures. After a 10 mile cruise @ 12 knots I was surprised to find better conditions than forecast, a real rarity for me. The usual suspects were quick to the Crazy Paddle tails and Black minnows and once the tide slackened I had the chance to ...
Isle of Skye Fishing Expedition
มุมมอง 11K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
I’ve wanted to visit Skye for quite some time, the idea of getting a boat on the water and taking in the unique scenery whilst wetting a line really appealed to me. I loaded my VW Transporter with a 3.4m SeaPro and enough lures to last a lifetime and set off on a 1500 mile trip. The weather was always going to be an unpredictable factor, strong winds and heavy rain did make life challenging but...
This is my FAVOURITE SPECIES to catch on Lure - Inflatable Boat Fishing Cornwall
มุมมอง 10K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
I’ve been wanting to fish this area on the new Maelstrom 380 HD ever since getting the boat. It’s one of those places where you feel a lot more comfortable in a big SIB and you can really get stuck into the fishing. I really wanted to fish big soft plastics on this session, not only does allow you to fish directly with the lure in fairly deep water, it also grabs the attention of the bigger fis...
Inflatable Boat Fishing In MASSIVE Feeding Frenzy Cornwall
มุมมอง 6K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
As the waters around Cornwall rise in temperature rapidly the vast amount of baitfish that moves inshore really switches on the bass fishing. The best way to locate these feeding frenzies is to spot the birds taking advantage of the carnage beneath the surface. A fast approach is needed to chase the action and minimal disturbance so a SIB really is the best solution for this type of situation. ...
AMAZING Encounter 9 Miles From Land On New Inflatable Boat
มุมมอง 15K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
Maelstrom Products have kindly provided me with a new SIB to use, a 3.8 metre aluminium deck. This boat gives me the ability to take on grander adventures and reach previously inaccessible fishing grounds. I took advantage of the perfect sea conditions to steam 9 miles out to a favourite local reef of mine that I haven’t visited in some years. After a 40 minute ride cruising @ 18 knots I was st...
Headland Bass Fishing Cornwall
มุมมอง 8K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
Headlands can be a great place to focus efforts with lures as the tide often has a more pronounced effect on them which bass love! Trolling can be an incredibly effective way of covering ground whilst catching fish and finding where shoals are held up. SIBs really are ideal for this type of situation where strong tides would make a kayak uncomfortable and bigger boats will spook wary fish in th...
SIB Fishing The Manacles - Cornwall
มุมมอง 4.6K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
Small inflatable boats such as the one I’m using in this video are really affected by wind, fortunately in Cornwall I have the choice of North and South coast launch venues which give me the chance to get out even when it’s blowing. The manacles reef is somewhere I’ve always been aware of and I finally decided to take my chances with moderate offshore winds. As soon as I got amongst the pinnacl...
Ultra Light SIB Fishing Deep Water
มุมมอง 6K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
Fishing on a small inflatable boat certainly has its pros and cons and in this trip I experience many of them! Dodgy weather forecasts didn’t get in the way of us finding some prime fish on the reefs to both soft plastics and jigs fished in depths of 10m-60m ! At times the wind got the better of this 3.5m flat hulled SIB so we took shelter and drifted freshly caught mackerel baits on the clean ...
Lightweight SIB fishing in challenging conditions
มุมมอง 7K8 หลายเดือนก่อน
I’ll never shy away from the chance to try out a new boat! Maelstrom products have kindly provided me with an Aquamarina 350 to put through its paces and with a brief gap in the weather I was straight out on my local grounds. Fishing inshore can be tough this time of year and to add to the challenge a single box of soft plastics was what I put my faith in. Keeping the rod and line light allows ...
Winter Lure Fishing From a Tiny SIB
มุมมอง 6K9 หลายเดือนก่อน
Firstly I apologise for the patchy audio quality in this video, it’s always hard to film in these sort of conditions. It’s rare for me to get out on the open coast with the SIB during winter but a very brief weather window presented itself and I wanted to see what could be had on lures. Sticking close to shore and fishing exceptionally shallow water allowed me to drift along the reef at just th...
This Inflatable Boat Is Perfect For Nearshore Fishing - Kaboat
มุมมอง 13Kปีที่แล้ว
The inflatable boat has become a surprisingly versatile fishing platform, one of its main appeals being how relatively straight forward they are to set up and launch. The Kaboat from Maelstrom products really plays on the simplicity of transportation and set up. It has many characteristics of a traditional SIB but is better suited to nearshore tasks. It would surprise a lot of people how good t...
LURE Fishing A New Mark In Cornwall
มุมมอง 18Kปีที่แล้ว
It’s good practice to put in the time discovering new marks, it can be a lengthy process that requires patience over different tides and times of day/night but this time I got lucky! With the help of google earth I was able to identify some likely looking pinnacles that could not go unchallenged. The right lure on the right tide kept me busy with a steady count of fish. If only I had stepped up...

SOFT VS HARD plastic lures - SIB fishing in wild winter conditions
That nebulous sp 8 ft looks a cracker of a rob , Oban , I am very tempted to go and see the guys in plymouth tomorrow and buy a new set up , what size slammer or shimano twin power sw would you recommend for it ? Another great vid btw ,good work as usual
You mess around too much wind in and stop yapping then talk about the retrieve
Absolutely loved the catch and cook element!!
When you charge into the Dolphins as you put it, is there any chance they could come into contact with the prop?
None
Great video Oban as always , what spinning rod weight size etc are you using in this vid as looking to pair up a rod with a new Shimano twin power sw c 5000/6000 for an all round bass / pollock spin / jig set up , many thanks for any advice
The weather can turn on the way out make sure half an hour isnt the longest 2 or 3
Been there done that, like you say it’s not fun beating into it on a boat that weighs next to nothing.
Some lovely fish Oban well done. The catch and cook was quick, simple and looked great - ideal 👍. Subbed.
Thanks for the feedback. I just checked out your channel, great stuff and I’ve returned the sub
Hey man really enjoyed the video! I bought one of those Lomo carry boxes from Amazon - what a great little thing - super grippy, and importantly it's watertight so keep everything dry if there's water sloshing around in the boat... Wanted to ask -what size or 'Ah' (amp-hour) battery do you use for a day's fishing? I have a 7.0Ah ands it's quite big for a box... also which box did you get for your battery? Many thanks
Hey no worries, I rewatched - got it, thanks.
Minke Whale 🐋 ❤
He might as well take the fish home because venting the swim bladder will mean the pollock will probably die anyway.
Love all your videos, to the point that i am collecting my Honwave 3.8 on Saturday, have learned so much but now SWMBO isnt too happy as i need all the other stuff that goes with! Many thanks for posting these videos and have especially like the catch and cook..Kind Regards Andy from Hull
make sure to put those wheels on first before the motor, but i think you figured that out after lol, becomes way too heavy to lift the boat up and attach the wheels lol much easier putting motor on when the stern is lifted off ground! just a tip from a sib owner to sib owner
Great video Oban ,I have bought some khaki paddle tail lures 150mm no3 on your recommendation, do you know where you can order replacement bodies from , many thanks and great work on the channel
Is that sis that silver reel a shimano saragosa Oban ? Looks a nice set up 😊
Shame you couldn't launch at portheras cove, for one minute I thought you was going out to the bann shoal
Would be a nice place to launch, don’t know how I’d get the boat down to the beach there.
@obanonthewater7796 next time your down that way pendeen lighthouse through the carpark to a slip way at boat cove there's a few inshore boats that work out of there
It’s gated access down to the slipway, at least it was when I was there in September
Are you still using your kaboat, I haven’t seen it since you posted a year ago….did you have a problem…
No problems, it went back to Maelstrom so that others could try it like I did.
@ thanks for that, what did you think of the stability in rougher conditions? I live by Loch Sunart just south of Skye and wondered how suitable it would be for our conditions I have previously had an Orkney Longliner 16ft as I lived on a small island but am looking for something that is less trouble as I’m now 75 but miss getting out on the water now I no longer have the Orkney
It’s not a boat to take it out in rough conditions as it sits low to the water. If you’re out on a nice day and wind picks up you’d most likely get back to the slipway dry but I wouldn’t take it out on a day with less than favourable weather
Agreed, I had two Dx slammers, too heavy, horrible line lay and a horrible drag. I went back to Shimano, just wash and oil after every session, no dramas!
This is my second one, first one went back after doing the same 2 months in… Shimano might be next
Love this Oban. Your videos have inspired me to take my SIB further afield. Picked up so many tips and new ways of looking at this style of fishing from your content Thank you! looking forward to your next adventure.
Thanks for the Feedback Matt, I’m glad it’s been helpful and I hope you enjoy your future SIB adventures
Lovely bream there. Hope it made good eating.
Just found your channel, great videos mate 👍, seriously considering getting shot of my 14ft fishing boat for a Sib/Rib, so many more options to launch as pretty limited in Scotland 🙄
Skin side down🤣👍
Ok
Excellent video and loved the bream they are an amazing looking fish. I saw you on the slipway that day getting ready to launch. Would have said hi but you were in conversation with someone. Thanks and looking forward to the next one.
Why reel up so fast when your in deep water ? Your killing the fish with barotrauma. Eyes bulging, swim bladder expanding out their mouth. Why don't you use a descender to drop them back to depth ? This isn't the first video I saw you leave them to die
Simply Brilliant.😎🎣
Cracking video, catch & cook is the way to go.
Oban, keep doing all that you are doing and 100K subscribers is just around the corner. Truly master fisherman. Well done.
Some banging fish there. That larger Couches was a unit !! Excellent video as always...
Cracking video mate, such a stunning fish 🎣
BEAUTIFUL FISH.... you're part of the reason i bought a honwave t38ie sib and a tohatsu 20hp hahaha. Had some AMAZING experiences on mine, great fishing, adventures, dolphins, you name it <3
I’m glad you’re enjoying it, theres a lot of fun to be had on SIBs 👌
Great vid….you have a good voice for this content….
another great vid, did enjoy cooking part also. hope that pollack managed to get back down? as you usually take them if struggling!
Heard a splash on the water and when I turned around the pollock was gone… probably one of the many tuna that were feeding around the boat
But top video as walkways
Really enjoyed this video Oban, wow what a lot of fish! You make it look so easy…. I also really enjoy the cooking part, never tried one of these but looks delicious, what a great fish!
You know your in deep watter y are u reeling them up in so fast they all blowin mun
Brilliant video, makes me want to venture out further on my sib from Fowey
Amazing video keep the fish coming mate !!!
Brilliant
A blank for me on the upper Bristol Channel shore today. No fish for tea, could do with those Pollack and a Bass....
Fantastic session mate 👍🏻🎣
Some spectacular fish there Oban, well worth the long run. Well done.
Superb as always Oban, great the way you master conditions in such a small craft, well done 👍
Watching that has made me want to go fishing today. I can't do my work in the rain but I can go fishing 😄
great session, looked like a busy day!
Enoyed this - thanks. Nice seeing someone who knows what they're doing. Shame you haven't included the word 'Squid' in the title - as this would have helped the search engine spread this great video - as your squid session is very impressive and would be enjoyed by all the fishermen that are taking up this new sport that is gaining in popularity. Maybe the reason for this is that I hear squid is getting very expensive to buy and it's great to eat(not just bait).
I would think it a Minke Whale
Nice video really interesting great set up. Saw you yesterday at hayle Harbour about to launch was going to say hi but you was talking to someone. Hope you had a good day out there fishing.
Very good day's fishing looking forward to the next adventure.
The Link is not good
I’d keep the bass they’re fantastic eating
