My New Power Setup - 200ah Lithium Batteries, 12v Starlink, & Auxbeam Switch Panel
In this video, I discuss my new power setup in the Super Pacific X1 Camper. This has been an awesome addition to add and has completely changed the game for camping. The 200ah of heated lithium batteries & 12v DC starlink conversion have been a blessing for these longer stints of working remote. Huge thanks to Power Queen and Xtar-Link for providing the batteries and 12v Starlink conversion for this project. As always, I am completely honest and upfront with my thoughts on products - if they fail/change down the road, I will be the first to let you know!

There are two pass throughs on the upper portion of the cabside panel, perfect for coax
Nice walk through and comparison. FYI - it's called "no see um" mesh because of the minute size of the mesh holes that can keep out even the smallest of insect: no see ums. You can still easily see through the mesh and it offers no privacy.

@@erickaesman4001 good to know!
Like someone else commented, get a Victron 12-24vdc converter. Ditch all the other stuff because it’s going to complicated with adding inverter…etc. Something like a AC180 Bluetti is the way I would go. All one package and will have two ways to charge when on the road. Bonus of course is is fast to move.
@@jkuoverland8507 I ran the portable power stations before this. Anker, ecoflow, etc. ecoflow did come out with their 800w alternator charger but wanted to go this route. I think the portable stations are a great way to start and then figure out if going this route is worth it!

What are your thoughts on the new starlink mini for use in a camper like this?
@@brochilldude I think it’s a solid option but curious to see more people use it and how speeds long term compare. As of now, I’m impressed. I will likely flat mount my gen 2 dish this winter as a project.
how'd you mount the solar panel setup? /how hard was it to remove when you switched setups (or did you just leave it on there when you switched from the GFC) build looking awesome as always
@@Benallst 3M VHB. Old panel stayed on the GFC but I’ll need to remove these. They do make an adhesive removed and I’ve also heard letting the old tape sit in alcohol helps a ton!
@@hunter_pauley that was the plan for me as well, thanks!
@@Benallst I did reach out to sunflar and ask what they use - it’s “heliobond” but that is a much more permanent option for mounting. They also recommend going around the borders of the panel with sika flex to prevent grime and dirt from getting under it.

@@RAMtrails very impressed with mine as well. The function and brightness is just amazing!
great channel, sick building... I'm taking notes. only one bit of constructive criticism, not that you asked or care. Stop talking to/looking the screen on the camera. look *at* the camera lens. You definitely occasionally are looking at the lens but more often than not, you're looking at the screen... which amounts to you not looking at your audience. It amounts to you looking at yourself/making sure you look good/your shot looks good. Trust in your handheld skills of framing the shot, look at the lens, talk to the lens. You're wearing a few hats as your own producer, cinematographer, and show host... so I get it with the constant checking over to see what your shot/what you look like but get over it. Just talk to the lens. that's all from me... I'll just be copying stuff off your sick build from here on out. have a good one!
@@jacqueraspy thanks! Reason why I looked so much at the screen vs the lens is exposure and making sure I’m in focus vs not. Also didn’t have a 17-28 yet and was still using the 24-70 which can be a bit more difficult! Thanks for the feedback!
@@hunter_pauley, damn, dude, you're on top of it! haha. I'll be up in Montana picking up a GFC in November. I'll keep my eyes peeled to get a high five. have a good one!

That Auxbeam controller seems awesome! How do you handle fuses? My current custom system is set up with replaceable blade fuses just in case there is a short. Does it have easily replaceable fuses?
@@OverlandCalling yes it does! So I have a main 60a fuse for the whole unit that I can cut all power as well if needed. Then each button has its own fuse slot and is fused properly for whatever I have connected - for example the fridge is fused at 10a, heater at 15a etc
@@hunter_pauley great thanks! I doubt if the packout box I am currently using has the room, but come time to overhaul it I will be going with the Bluetooth switch box.
Hey man. For the shunt to be accurate it has to be the only thing connected to the battery negative. Everything else connects to the other side of the shunt
@@centralcoastfishing356 I have the shunt connected to the negative on the battery and then the negative on the Auxbeam. Does that not seem right? In theory I would think it would track all the current/output through the Auxbeam. Seems accurate thus far.
I see what you are saying that all the draws are theoretical going through the shunt but directly grounding the Solar and whatever else to the battery will also mess up the system
I run a victron mppt to my bluetti, constantly see 10-15% more than advertised from my 100w bougerv panel (and vs directly plugged in to, but was running into an over voc problem, hence the mppt). Was so impressed with victron I added a low power victron 12/24v 10a dc>dc that I can power directly from my auxbeam.

Do you use Starlink while driving?? If it isn’t practical, does it not make sense to keep the weBoost as well?
@@avr01 I have used it while driving. WeBoost isn’t practical in my application because there is zero chance of getting service where I’m at.
@@hunter_pauley Right. I was just wondering about "during the drive", getting *to* the location(s) where cell=0. I would think weBoost can extend your cell > 0 reach while on your way. But I get what you're saying. What was it like using Starlink while driving? How did you mount your dish so as to point in useful direction while also dealing with wind forces? Is it practical to leave it as a permanent solution? Thanks so much for your insight Hunter!!
Great video
@@paulhgarza thank you Paul!
Great information, except for the need for proprietary hardware. This is completely untrue, They use super common M6 everywhere and the T-nuts (also M6) are Yakima items, priced eight for 10 bucks
@@dawgrules1 GFC needs proprietary hardware, not the SP. I bought 100 track nuts on Amazon for less than 4 GFC track nuts. I think you possibly missed me saying that 🤟🏽
@@hunter_pauley Sorry, my bad
Thanks for the review. Just got a 23 Tacoma and looking at SP vs. GFC. Now that the GFC V2 PRO is available I'm sure we'd all like to hear your thoughts on those upgrades as they seem to have addressed many of the issues that caused you to make the switch...
@@pchone I’ve only seen the v2 pro in person. Likely the additions will fix “most” of the issues but I’ve really grown to like many of the things on the SP. I saw pictures of the v2 pro prototype back in February which makes me think they didn’t test it much yet it the elements - time will tell how the additions will do but I think they will work out well for the most part. I would have loved to work with GFC and offered many times to on the tent redesign but never got the opportunity.
@@hunter_pauley Appreciate the reply. I've only seen their video showing the features of the PRO- not in person. When the time comes I'll likely go SP. In the meantime, a Leer 180 will have to suffice...
@@pchone if you can, I always recommend going to an overland expo OR seeking someone out locally to see the product. Feel and see the products in person. I did that with the SP last August when I still had my GFC and I instantly knew one was in my future. For all you know, you might find another platform besides the two that fits your needs and demands even better.
Do you think I should buy a GFC V2 for $6500 used? Or just save up an additional $7000 for a Super Pacific?
@@coolbeyblade5 you can find used SPs occasionally for 9-10k now. The older v2s are only going to lose more value now that the v2 pro is out. I wouldn’t doubt if older v2s drop into the high 5000$
What cups are you using for your coffee and cider?
I know this is a short and all, but why didn’t you just show the whole process of you pushing down on the bottle? The video was crazy short kind of makes me think this thing doesn’t work that well.
Full clip is in a 45 min TH-cam video. People don’t have the attention span on shorts to watch something that long.
I'm also looking at getting the Dobinson MRR for my 3rd gen. And the super pacific camper. I want a 3" lift all around do you think stiffer spings will help with that? I can't get everything at once although I wish I could. So one thing at time most likely suspension upgrade from OEM. Looking for pointers.

Hello, I'm considering one of these styles of campers for my 2020 Tundra. What are your thoughts on the new GFC V2 pro?
What size titan straps are you using to hold your dometic jug to your molle panel? Thanks!!
They are the 36” ones. Came in a 2 pack from Amazon.
can you create a hidden wifi with starlink?
I have a 12v conversion now so tbh, I am not entirely sure.
@@hunter_pauley no I mean if its possible to hide the wifi. so it doesnt show up for others in the list of available wifis. however, I did some research now and it looks like its not possible without a custom router attached.
It looks like (per your description of GFC), GFC invested heavily in their initial design, and 5 years into it, still have not gone through their inventory. Why else refuse to make changes to their product that would benefit future sales? While very cool looking, I still couldn't see myself shelling out that kind of dough for a tent that sits on a cab. But from the points you have gone over here, I would be leaning heavily toward the S.P platform if I was indeed a prospective buyer.
I do want to give credit to GFC and say they did finally make updates after 7-8 years. However, I think it was heavily influenced by folks like myself and many others who made a lot of noise. Likely sales were declining too because in the beginning, it was just GFC and a few others. As the years went on, competition arose, listened to what folks wanted, and starting selling campers. Why it took GFC so long to pick the low hanging fruit I.e locks, no full zip windows is truly beyond me. I begged them to change the design and offered to even test it after spending so much time in the GFC. Folks who rarely camp don’t see these flaws but the folks who camp year round and in all elements truly saw the downfall of the design quite fast. Like I said though, GFC did make updates but it took alot of role changing internally to get things moving. Is it too late though? I guess time will tell.
Wow dude what a view. Amazing!
Well, they fixed all the things that you had a problem with so this video should be changed or a retraction kind of thing
It wasn’t just me but multiple people had issues with venting and condensation or the windows. I am glad to see the new ownership of GFC making positive changes after there were so many requests 🤟🏽
I just saw your truck in Kalispell on my home from work.
Small world!
I watched your video yesterday on about your Eco Flow power station, which one do you like better? Eco Flow or Anker?
Anker. The power ports all on the front of the power station and app its self is top notch.
Can you get a rack for the top of this tent?
Sure can. Really universal as well since the track on the top and sides isn’t proprietary. You can do Yakima bars or I know some people do DIY kits for like $150 for 3 bars.
@@hunter_pauley awesome one more question do you know about how much weight can be on top while it's popped up?
