LAST RACE BEFORE NATIONALS! + Race Day Nutrition Advice
Apologies about the audio in places, I tried recording with a different software and I'm still getting to grips with it...
The last races for me before nationals, at the Stockport Metro Open meet. Solid swims, but definitely showing signs that I need some taper!

All of my races from the regional championships this past weekend. Very good performances from me here, with a high skill level and the best in season swimming I've ever done. TESTING MY SPEED!

Some clips from the speed testing this week. Our speed test is 9x25 MAX, 3 are fly swim with no underwater, 3 are underwater fly kick, and the last 3 are fly kick on the surface in streamline with no underwater. I also go into an explanation of some of the terms I use regularly, and a (probably fairly butchered) description of the intensity continuum and how we train accordingly. Hopefully you ...

VO2 TRAINING IN SEPTEMBER?!
มุมมอง 1.2Kหลายเดือนก่อน
In an unusual way, we have started the season with work designed to improve our VO2 max. This is the 2nd progression of the same type of set where we do 3 rounds of 12x50 (40) with 2 minutes in between. We swim each rep with the first 25 strong and the 2nd 25 slowing down to just make the turnaround. It sounds easy, but it's anything but! For all your swimming needs visit www.jingramswiming.com

Fins are "better" 😃👍
Good stuff Jamie, the audio from the fly heat analysis didn’t come through due to the noise from the video 😩 but based on all these races looks like you’ve got loads of easy speed right now. So all looks good for Nationals!! ❤
Thanks mate! Sorry about the audio, I’m trying a different software for recording and can’t change the sound afterwards (or at least I don’t know how to 😂)
@@JIngramSwimminghahah!! These things happen I guess! Loving the content still!!
Cereal is king! All eyes on the nationals. Let’s get it buddy!
Love the cereal!
Thanks for the video, mate. Have a good weekend.
Thanks mate, you too!
Good luck in sheffield
Thanks mate!
What is your pb
For the races in this video, my best 100 free is 47.53, and 100 fly is 50.31
Good luck for nationals

Order very best for nationals

What club was you at as a teenager

Nice video Jamie! Keep it up. Look forward to seeing you race at SCM nationals.
Thanks mate, I’ll see you there!

@@epicjuk9658 thanks mate 👊🏻
Jamie do you ever do 800 or 1500 free?
@@HENRYMADFUT not anymore mate, but my first ever national time was in 1500, and I was the senior Derbyshire record holder for 1500 when I was 16! Never done an 800 (wasn’t a men’s event in my day 😂). But none in recent times
@ wow that’s impressive,I am 16 now and am big fan of distance swimming,it is my aim to reach English nationals this year,do you have any advice for how you managed to get nationals in the 1500?
@ you’ll get it mate 💪🏻 your coaches will make sure your training is on point. You can do things around that, so make sure your technique is perfect, your sleep, nutrition and hydration are perfect, leave nothing to chance 👊🏻
@ thank you bro means a lot 😁
47.96????????????? Just crazy 😱
@@Gui0000 haha thanks mate! I’ll be knocking on the door of 46 soon!

@@time_to_grind as long as needed to be as fast as possible! This ends up being about a 3 hour session for me
So fast especially with schedule
Hi Jamie I’m having a problem on my fly because at the moment I do 1 kick an I don’t know how to get my second kick in
@@joechadwick I know you sent me a message on Instagram too, but in case other people have the same issue I’ll post my reply here as well! Have a go at this drill to emphasise the 2 kicks. Put a snorkel and fins on, and go super slo mo, being really conscious of when the arms fit in in relation to the kick. I like to think about fly being leg driven, so you can also set up some body position kick, again with snorkel and fins, and then build the stroke up to fit in the kick rhythm
Looking strong

Fast 🔥 Love to see it. On the home stretch now till Winter Nationals. Let’s go!!
It's getting close now mate!
Hey Jamie, could you do a video about suplements? I have a lot of questions about creatine especially cause some people said to me that is good for some periods, but before competitions you should cut it, what do you usually do?
Yeah I can talk about supplements, and specifically creatine in a video soon, no problem!
RINGER!!!!
Apologies, only just discovered your channel (probably due to watching Sonny's videos), so coming to your videos late ... I'm wondering if you, or any swimmer you've heard of, has tried the carnivore way of eating?
Hi mate, glad you’re watching the videos and I hope you’re enjoying them! I’ve not tried carnivore, nor has anyone I know. I suppose if that’s how you’re able to stick to a nutrition plan then it might be okay, but I think with the amount of high intensity work we’re doing that demands glycogen as a fuel we’re better off including carbs in there
Another great video and breakdown of the swims. Cheers Jamie.
@@CalB65 thanks mate, appreciate it 👊🏻

Hello: Otherwise, how much time difference can one see, over 25m all out, freestyle sprint, race-suit vs the usual, ordinary jammers? In your experience? Thanks!
It varies with how fresh you are, but I would say anywhere around half a second, maybe slightly more
😎 Let’s goooo
💪🏻
wow thats a huge day of training, what you feel like the next couple days?
Rough mate 😂 I always feel dreadful for about a day and a half, by which time I have to lift and swim a hard session again!
Nice sessions
Thanks mate!
Were the underwater fly kicks off a dive? I am seeing a lot of disturbance in the water when you start.
No, all from a push
So much power! What would be your time difference...all out 25m sprint...push-off against the wall vs dive off the blocks?
Around a second, maybe slightly more
@@JIngramSwimming But I keep hearing that elite swimmers, such as yourself, have a difference of at least 2sec between the two. Is there any wisdom to that?
It’ll depend athlete to athlete. For whatever reason my fly kicks from a push flow a bit better than from a dive. Other people will be the other way round
@@JIngramSwimming Sorry, I was not clear. Apologies. I mean to ask you what would be your time difference....all out 25m...FREESTYLE SPRINT...push off against the wall vs dive off the blocks?
@@Somendra_Kharola yes mate, probably about a second or so still

Be great to see you mate!
Another great video. Out walking and listening to this. Can you pass on some ideas/exercises to improve my dolphin kick and where do you start your kick from, as in head, chest abdominals? Cheers Jamie 👍
Thanks mate! For the underwater I like to start with the streamline, so if you stand facing a mirror you can check that your ankles, hips, shoulders and fingers are all in a straight line. Then I like to think about the kick starting at your shoulders. The best way for this is vertical kick, start with hands across your chest and build to a streamline. You’ll be forced to kick properly to keep your head above the water
@@JIngramSwimmingThank you 👍
You are so fast under water
Thanks mate! Speed is getting there underwater, looking forward to tidying up those couple of things and seeing what happens next time

If your fifty metre butterfly time is thirty five seconds , what do you think you should be going 41 hundred metres butterfly
I'd have to see what the 50 looks like, but as a guess you could probably go out in 38 quite comfortably and be back in 42 for around 1.20. This is a complete guess though!
Where do you record the distance from your training sessions? So you know what you are doing over a month
I write everything in my log book, I've done this for the last 8 years I think! My coach also records all of the volumes in a spreadsheet for his planning too
Great insight mate would be good to see a day in the life. Have a good weekend.
Thanks mate. A day in the life is in the works, maybe in the lead up to winter nationals!
