Mike's Trail Archives
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 15 ต.ค. 2011
Hi. I'm Mike. I'm a hiking enthusiast, avid camper, beginner backpacker, gear head, and amateur video editor, looking to share my recreational and informative hiking and backpacking content with anyone interested. I live in Austin, TX, born and raised here, and have a goal to find all the great trails in town so I can pass any knowledge gained to you. I organize a hiking Meetup group called Hikes of Titans - Austin, TX. I also travel a lot within the state, to National Parks, State Parks, and I'm sometimes lucky enough to travel and hike somewhere special.
I'm new to editing so expect the video quality to significantly get better as I learn more about editing and camera work, but most everything is uploaded in 4K or HD for your viewing pleasure. I have a music license for all music used in my videos. That means better quality music for y'all to listen to, and the artists are compensated through Artlist.
Likes and new subscribers still make me giddy :P

There's boating, kayaking, rafting, hiking, and much more to enjoy here. In the Tetons, we adventured hard - kayaking on Jenny Lake, hiking along Jenny Lake and up Cascade Canyon, rafting down the Snake River, and sight-seeing many spectacular creatures and majestic mountain views.

Lost Maples State Natural Area is in the heart of the Texas Hill Country and is known for its rocky trails, decent elevation changes, and if you're lucky, good Fall colors. Dehydration While Hiking - It Doesn't Have to Happen to You
I can’t find the falls:(
@zombiedimi the biggest one is just up Bull Creek a few hundred feet from Spicewood Springs Rd. On Google maps, it looks like a pond along Bull Creek. I shot this when the Creek was flooded a bit, which makes many of the falls more interesting.
Mike, where you been?
Lots of nice areas in New Mexico to see and hike
The wild pig won’t bother you he’ll run from you like he did
Great Video!!!!
Great video Mike, hope all is well. I hope we can connect this year for some collaboration videos. Happy Hiking and safe travels!
outstanding! I love your photographic techniques. Your eye for the flora and fauna is top notch. Amazing video! I love it! new sub!
Fantastic Job capturing this place. great videography! I loved this video.
What a beautiful hike. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Mike for taking us fellow hikers with you!! I like hiking in the rain too
Great video. Planning a visit in April, weather permitting.
Thank you! I have a more recent Colorado Bend video you can check out too on my channel. Enjoy your trip!
I stumbled upon your Inks Lake video and was mesmerized by your talent of capturing the Texas special sights. I appreciate all the time spent on your video editing. Love seeing the birds, animals, rivers and trails. I am a fellow native Austinite and grew up camping with my parents at Lake Travis (long before the Corps of Engineers). THANK YOU for sharing your story and inspiring me to get back out there to enjoy my life. You are amazingly strong to overcome such huge obstacles. I look forward to seeing your adventures.
Thanks for watching and the kind words!
Spectacular views!! Thanks Mike for taking me along on your journey!
Beautiful! Would love to hike there. I have driven through but didn’t stop.
yeah,awesome . would you like more views?~))
I heard that Huntsville is a nightmare on the weekends. Too close to Houston, overcrowded with people that don’t respect quiet hours or “leave no trace”.
Hey so on those primitive sites you can’t use a propane flame either ??? Or a portable bbq grill ???
I've been asked this question a few times. I have no idea. Good question for a park ranger.
Awesome video, deserves a lot more likes!!!
How bike-able is the trail to the primitive site if hauling a small bike trailer (2-wheeled)?
Pretty flat and wide most of the way, just a couple rocky but doable creek crossings. I'd say give it a shot.
Vallecito is one of my fav places! So beautiful!
Wish i could have just kept on hiking. I know the trail heads pretty far into some of the best CO wilderness.
Marvelous adventuring for sure! Interesting tracking wrap-up at the end...haven't seen a lot of that being done. Making some awesome memories...and that's what it is all about! Awesome! Bruce and Otis
Thanks for always watching!
how’s life?- that is unreal vide-owork-take care, ))
Mike's.Woohoo, omg~ outstanding .
Your videos are definitely a huge step above others. Very interesting content and I love your video shots. I know you must go through a lot of editing to provide some of your shots, but so appreciated. I'm captivated until the very end. I'm an older lady just now starting out with the hiking. I practice around my neighborhood and am looking forward to starting in some of the Texas state parks. I just recently purchased my annual pass. I live in the Central Texas area, so it's not far to the places you've visited.
Hey Mike....a little late to the party here, but I stumbled across your Inks Lake video this morning. Thanks so much for sharing and congrats on the new camera. Very exciting!! I was born in Austin, but just developed an interest and the time to hike and camp. I'm actually going to Inks Lake for a day trip next week. Looking forward to exploring these trails.
Great solo peaceful vid 👌🏻👌🏻
Really cool!
you're cute, thank you for the video!
Great video. It reminds me of when I was in the area as a teenager.
Not from around here, are you?
I’ll have to check out this trail sometime just a four hour drive. Thanks for sharing keep it up.
Thanks for the video. Thinking about going when it’s cooler. I hate camping here in Texas when it’s hot.
Cool video! I like the music. I just visited Enchanted Rock State Park this past Monday. Saw a lot of cacti on the trails. Similar to the trails you’re walking on. Unfortunately, I had to be treated for heat exhaustion and dehydration as it was 106 degrees.🥵
Sorry to hear that. It's crazy hot out there. I'm headed to cooler weather tomorrow. More videos coming :)
Nice Video! 👌🏻 Thanks for sharing! We visited this park recently and it is beautiful despite low rainfall. @Weekend Hikers
Thanks for watching! :) The low rivers this year are depressing. Good thing I chose national parks this year. About to film all over Colorado, Grand Tetons, and Yellowstone. Keep an eye out for future vids!
@@smithmutexas yes, very hot season and no rain at all! ☀️ I saw many young parents shortening their hiking because it was too hot for kiddos to handle. I don’t blame ‘em. I recently started doing video on parks I visit so i will appreciate if you could subscribe!!
You visit some really cool places and do some really cool videos. I have been to Colorado Bend State Park
Thanks for watching!
Good job on your hike. And at least the rain helped keep temps down some. It has been crazy hot.
Thanks! It definitely helped. It was actually chilly that last morning.
A great excursion there for sure! Great that you hung in there, even in the rain, to enjoy such a terrific hike! Thanks for sharing your adventure for sure!! Bruce and Otis
Thanks for always watching and commenting :)
Beautiful video! I've been to Cedar Breaks Park and Tejas Park but didn't know they were all part of a 26 mile loop.
That was awesome thanks for sharing
So glad you were still able to enjoy your trip..😊
Nice video. Thank you for sharing your adventures.
Can you fish by the primitive campsites?
Not really. There's a cliff there that makes it hard to get down to the water
I hear you have been to Inks Lake many time but I have never been on the trails. I'm going to have to check them out the next time I'm out there.
I have been to four of the state parks that were in your video. Really cool catch of the bobcat.
Nice hike and events. It's been awhile since I've been out there.
The outdoors does wonders for your health. Great job!!!
Great park
This is my go to park
Been there it is nice
Wow, that looks like a tremendous area for some pretty awesome adventuring! Very Cool! Bruce and Otis
