Indeed it still feels like we are on a knife edge and could go either way. Lose a few and it will be panic stations again. At least we closer to January now and we have not only got back in touch but have given ourselves a little breathing space and margin for error. That was a dream just a month ago.

It's a miracle really that Marti has got us up the table whilst everybody was still out. Chair looks way off it, which is understandable really as he's never missed this many games in his career, he needs easing back in, we don't want him to break down again. Let's hope that 2-0 prediction comes off then it will be a Happy Christmas!!

@@chrisrovai9625 They don't often lose by more than the odd goal. We know from the past Preston are masters of the dark arts, time wasting and getting in the refs ear etc, so it's vital we don't fall behind that's for sure.

@@williamigoe1094 Thanks William! Maybe we can get an hour out of Frey but I expect we will save him for Boxing Day in terms of starting. Same with Chair. With 3 games in less than a week to come they will still see plenty of action.

If we come out on top on Saturday we can perhaps start to look up the table rather than down and maybe mid-table becomes a real possibility this season which seemed a pipe dream a month ago! Mark Prince is a hell of a guy, hard not to be touched when he speaks.

@cb1onthe1 I saw him on BBC Breakfast and was both touched and amazed he could speak so well about knife attacks, all the while remembering Kieran (who must be immensely proud of his dad)! On paper this has all the hallmarks of a draw on Saturday, but (as when talking about Norwich) it is a question of which QPR side turns up. Let's hope for a positive one that wins!

I've just read back the signing announcements on the official site and it was definitely Dembele only they worded as an 'initial loan'. It was a phenomenal finish. We did praise him though, maybe the way I worded it but I was actually criticising us because we said a lot he has no end product and how wrong we were! No fault at all in Smyth's display. Would just say we need to see that quality in the final third more often. I thought we were quite positive overall in this one. Certainly compared to 2 months ago when the world was ending and we were doomed😆🤣

Yes Madsen has improved but still has some way to go. Marti said last week though he's like a sponge and is trying to adapt and learn all the time which is positive. it will probably be Smyth or Saito on the right, we know Chair will almost certainly start every game once he is fit and I cannot see Madsen playing anywhere but the 10 role. You are right about Norwich, they have a real chip on their shoulder about our recent meeting and are desperate for revenge!

@JustAnotherWorldTraveller Norwich will want revenge in the return fixture, but as for the first match - which Norwich will turn up? Regarding Madsen, I would want him to fill the central role. After that, it is then a question of where you play Saito and Chair as starters. I would consider one on the left and one roving, even at the expense of starting a Right Winger (going for a RWB instead)....

Indeed, if we can get players back fit and add a few in January it should (please) be a more enjoyable second half of the season. But lose the next few over Christmas and it will change the whole picture again! You R's!

Yes a match doesn't sum up The Championship much more than Preston Vs QPR. Feels like we've both been here forever! Saito also went central quite a lot away at Cardiff, but that is pretty much the only place we'd found suits Madsen, and I can't see him dropping Madsen. So it restricts where we can fit in Saito and Chair when they are all fit. I'm pretty sure we have an option on Saito like we did for Dembele but it's odd we already confirmed one and not the other.

@ I don’t know but I’m honestly not sure we do re Saito. We’ll have to see I suppose. Madsen has got a bit better but it’s marginal. If Saito did well in there you never know. Having said that Madsen is our player so they’ll want him to try and develop in our league. Sitting in the bench won’t do that.

@jeremywalter1308 you do not want to lose the tangible benefits Saito offers the team, so somehow we need to include him and Chair. Perhaps we need to go to a 3-5-2, with Chair up front alongside the striker, and Madsen deeper? The problem with that is leaving the defence more exposed, so those not involved in an attacking play need to cover for the others....

@@bryanfisher4521 A change of formation could work, but Marti has rarely deviated from 4 at the back. Also we know Madsen doesn't really work anywhere other than a 10. It's a headache for Marti for sure once everybody is fit!

It will take a good goal to top that this season! A draw at Preston keeps us ticking along so not a bad result, a win would be fantastic. You R's!

He offers a lot of energy down that flank. Bristol City he looked very tired and not his best day, but overall he's been great for us.

@QPRRhino in all fairness, Oxford's high press and them forcing Saito out to the touchline may well have had a lot to do with the low passing percentage. I am impressed with him and always want him to start!

@@Eagle-eagle1 We did recognise how good that finish was. He works hard and we always acknowledge the work he does for the team and helping the right back. But generally we tend to say he's better coming off the bench. No doubting his end product has frustrated us in the past, even as recent as Stoke he fired a number of shots over when well placed. His end product has long been his Achilles heel, but maybe that finish last week (on top of his excellent cross against Oxford) will give him renewed belief in what he can do. Great team player no doubt, just lacks consistency in the final third.

Thanks for commenting - yes 'solidly midtable' sums you up looking at all the stats. Good days followed by bad days. You seem to lack any consistency this season. I think QPR fans would take a draw to keep us ticking over. We have a bit of momentum but 3 wins in a row for a team that only had 2 all season prior to last Saturday is a lot to ask!

Agree on Stoke, that was probably our best performance attacking wise of the season and we should have won. The performance gave us renewed confidence though and we've not looked back. I was disappointed Armstrong was sold too, it will be interesting to see if he starts tomorrow. A draw here would keep us ticking along nicely.

Yes he was doing it throughout the 2nd half and you could tell how much he wanted the clean sheet. Varane was celebrating the 2nd shouting Vamos and Cook is straight at him to get back and concentrate. What a leader.

Absolutely right, everything that was said about January still applies - we need forwards and depth! We want a comfortable 2nd half of the season, so the plans should remain as they were!

All depends upon whether we can cover games without losing key players. The LB role relies far too much on having Kenneth Paal fit, and the same applies in midfield to some degree. That said, we are all a lot more optimistic in December than we were in November!

A few good points there. We were poor first half but Oxford only really had 1 or 2 half chances and you are right they had a lot fresher legs after a postponed game. Varane is getting better with each game and Field is growing in confidence in his partner, hence why he's all over the pitch now. Bodes well. Saito is fantastic, hope we have a deal secured for him. Morrison has to keep his place. 5 league starts and 1 goal conceded! His sliding tackle bombing across to cover Cook in the 2nd half was superb.

Considering what we sat through for the first 3 months of the season we need to enjoy these moments 😁

@@Eagle-eagle1 I think we both agreed on Kolli in the end during the show, he's just done a lot of running, given a lot of energy this week when he's not played a lot recently and had a virus too. But if he can do 60 minutes again that should be the plan!

We have been so much better since the Stoke game. 5 clean sheets in 8 games gives us confidence too, Marti has adapted as we hoped and we look better at both ends of the pitch. Of course our start to the season means we are still on the back foot, but things are definitely looking better.

@@paulchown4764 Yes Christmas has come early! Only 2 weeks ago Dave and I were talking about staying in touch by January, yet if we win tomorrow we will be near mid-table. Credit to Marti and the lads. Right on Kolli, needs a new deal. Lots of potential there, hopefully we don't lose him.
