The most weird season I've known for Sheff Utd, total change from last season, 15 players out, 11 players in with some more to join up before the window closes. Wilder knew we were relegated months ago, so he's targeted all the best free transfers, loans and players in the final year of their contract, not paid much on transfer fees but paying out big salaries and bonuses to attract the best. On paper the current squad is far better than last seasons PL team and better than the team that was promoted 2 years ago. So the mood is extremely positive amongst the SU fanbase because you can sense Wilder has his mojo back and is again building something special. Really looking forward to Saturdays match, us Blades don't even recognise half the team.
Yes last season was incredibly miserable for you guys but as you say the relegation was coming months ago so there has clearly been some forward planning. Burrows looks a great pick up, O'Hare could be a star, Moore guarantees goals. Even some of the 'squad' players you are picking up would be first team players at most other clubs. I think you'll have a good season. Given how QPR have started the season we need to perform 10 times better to get something on Saturday.
Thanks mate, and nice of you to comment. QPR can often spring a great performance out of nowhere, but with how we defended in the 2 games this week I think you'll get enough chances to win the game. Enjoy the season!
Yeah it looks like the old 70s Match of the Day when we were the best club in the land 🤩 Not sure I like this black-gold-red-green 2nd kit choice though 🤔 Looks a bit like the Jamaica flag (nothing wrong with that, but surely we should've gone for a Moroccan colour scheme to inspire Ilias 🤔).
Thanks again! We will improve, we have Chair to come back, Dembele and Saito now in the mix too, other new boys will settle over time. It's just a tough start, but we may surprise ourselves on Saturday.
@@1889jonny We appreciate the comment! Yeah we don't go for headlines and clickbait we just try and be reasonable and honest and back up our opinions! I still think QPR could do ok this season, just a ropey start which I suspect will continue on Saturday 😬 I feel your club uniting again and all getting on the same page after a difficult season, I sense you have an exciting 9 months ahead 👍⚽
I think we will still have a good season, Marti will change things quickly if we don't start getting results and we have improved the squad this week. Glad you like the graphics!
Most important thing folks, we got through. About the draw, spot on Dave. Palace or West Ham would have been good. Wycombe away as well, or Leyton O. Bramall Lane always been a mixed bag. Second game of season in 2008 we were thrashed 3-0, and two years later in promotion season we battered them same score, and Blackwell sacked after for them
@@matthewdoyle3877 Yes most important thing was to get over the line. Yes when West Ham came out I thought it could be us but not to be! Both matches against Sheff Utd from the promotion season live long in the memory, both 3-0 and fantastic performances!
@@hoopsanddreamsQPR absolutely. Especially that Monday night game in April 2011, under the lights. Adel Tarabt ran the show. 3-0 flattered Sheffield United
@@chrisrovai9625 It's strange isn't it that we won a game but aren't feeling particularly great! I think we just need to get through August, let the squad get used to one another and Marti tweak a few things. I'm still confident overall.
I'd definitely start Frey. Shef Utd always have enormous centre backs and you need a bit of physicality against them. Frey may need to draw defenders away to create space for other players, Dembele? Smyth? Andersen? to slip into and take a shot. I'm sure Celar will improve but this isn't the match for him when he's finding his feet. We need to hold onto the ball better, last two matches we've barely regained possession when it comes pinging back. The forwards need to look after the ball and take pressure off constant defending by midfield and defence.
Agree on Frey. He also presses well for his size. I think if Dembele starts and can do an hour maybe it gives everybody a boost and he will make Sheffield United think twice when he gets the ball. You are right on the possession too - we've been very poor. Considering Marti wants us to now have more of the ball we even only had 40% possession against Cambridge. An odd 2 games to start the season but hopefully we keep improving as the squad settles.
Last season we had some great results away from home including beating league leaders Leicester at their place. The year before that we beat Burnley at their place to stay up. So that's beating the champions in their own back yard 2 seasons running. How's that for a stat? You never know what these players are capable of when they click on any individual day. It could so easily go our way on Saturday and the Blades could still win the league. 3 years in a row, yes please and why not...COYRs...come on you super HOOPSA!
Good stat I forgot about - those results are what make football unpredictable and why we love it! It could happen this week, we haven't been THAT bad in the opening week, it just feels we aren't quite where we need to be and Sheffield United are finding their mojo again quickly.
Well I must say that my optimism has kinda crashed and burned in the last few of weeks. It seems that with the injuries, new players, and contract unknowns that we are almost playing the first games as preseason matches. Just too much experimentation in the lineups to expect good results.
Yes it's highlighted for those who were in any doubt how vital Chair is, that's for sure. Marti will take a few weeks to work out his best 11 now with all the additions and it will take time for the new players to adjust to how he wants them to press/attack etc. Can we get results in the meantime? Big question mark.
Fans are fickle ours are the same with harsh comments at times. Players that won't sign need to go as we did they hold you back. You are going to struggle on Saturday against sheffield united. UTB
Correct on all counts! Everybody is entitled to an opinion but harsh comments after 70 minutes of football help nobody. I worry you are going to have an enjoyable Saturday afternoon!
Fans are fickle, yeh sure are after 60 yrs of being fed false dreams & promises , Totally agree with ya regards players who won't sign, BIN EM, no matter who they are. Look at Ilyman & Sander Berge, how loyal were they hey. One week before kick off last season, disgraceful. Dont see we will miss either of em anyhow.
Remember last week I predicted playes struggling to adapt to style and Marti to be gone by January, Not what I want to see but my prediction. 2-0 loss Saturday
They are definitely struggling to adapt to the style of play this season. Marti is trying to adapt things whilst adding a few foreign players and that is just causing confusion and misunderstanding at the moment. As I said in the show there have been so many examples of players being on different wavelengths. I still absolutely believe Marti will sort it out, maybe even as soon as Saturday 😁but that seems a long shot!
To be honest colback dont do it for me, Field is needs to get back to form of last season, yeah midfield looks a bit passive! Still think there is something in this match for us ! Going Blades 2 v 2 Rrss , You Rrss
I've never been a big Colback fan either, but with him rested in midweek I think he's certain to start. Is that really you predicting a draw Tony? I think that's as pessimistic as you've been 😁 You R's!
@@davidetozzi1647 Yeah we do have a habit of throwing in a shock result, maybe today is one of those. That's what we discussed last week though... we need to find a level of consistency. We go from amazing to terrible and back again too quickly.
Sheffield United were perhaps the worst team ever in the top flight. Let's not forget that they are a Championship team and there for the taking. QPR have been really poor, but there are many new players trying to sort themselves out, and I'm sure Marti will find a way to get them to gel soon. I'm going for an optimistic 0:0....
They gave the QPR 12/13 side a run for their money in how bad they were! But they've overhauled their squad very quickly. I agree QPR will be fine once the new boys settle and everybody adjusts to how Marti wants them to play. It will take a few games, even a few months maybe.
@@phil.i.p8540 Unfortunately that seems a good bet. Once the new players settle and we get Chair back I still think we are going to have a good season, but Saturday looks a real challenge with how we've been performing to date.
Possibly, but (being QPR) also possible we will defend far better and ensure it is a narrow defeat against a side we expect to be promoted (once again).
