Follow my journey renovating a 100 year old school in Sweden (and sometimes travels). I am doing this on my own, but I am opening my home to volunteers from all over the world who help me bring life to this house again. Together we are bringing purpose back to the house, it is once again a school where we learn from each other and share not only skills but also culture, knowledge and good food.
E49 Huge Progress l Skillfull Repair Window Apron l Painting Window Frames
This week is a banger as I make amazing progress after what feels like weeks of prep work and redos. It now feels like it's going to be a smooth ride onward with very exciting steps to be done. Follow along as I turn the last room of my rental apartment into an amazing space using traditional techniques and materials, followed up by restoration of vintage furniture and building a kitchen, traditional style.

E47 Growing Mushrooms l Re-painting Lime walls
มุมมอง 4.4K14 วันที่ผ่านมา
I've wanted to try this for a long time, and this week I finally got to start my own mushroom growing garden! Using dowels with Oyster mushroom and Shiitake mushroom mycelium and logs from the trees I cut down two weeks ago. I also worked on the living room of the guest apartment, of course, tried to perfection the walls and the corners of the ceiling. #limepaint #1920shome #historicrestoration...
E46 Painting w/ Lime Paint l Nothing Goes as Planned
มุมมอง 6K21 วันที่ผ่านมา
This week was exhausting! I spent a lot of time watching the corners of the ceiling dry as I built up new layers waiting for them to get ready for paint. So I could paint the walls. I gave up in the end and started painting the walls and then I had one mini accident and one huge! But now the walls are painted, what a relief! I also continue the work on the chimney that I re-lined last year. Mor...
E45 Last Step Done Before Lime Paint l Removing trees
มุมมอง 7Kหลายเดือนก่อน
This week was labour intense as I did some heavy duty garden work AND prepped my walls and ceiling for painting next week. Join me as I do more taming in the overgrown garden, start preparing for christmas (planting amaryllis bulbs) and I finally finish the last wall preparations. Who's excited to see the colours of the walls?
E44 Restoring Wall Cabinet l Trimming Overgrown Bushes and Trees
มุมมอง 9Kหลายเดือนก่อน
This week I will take with you on a dramatic transformation of the area in front of the house. Finally I can see the door and windows from the garden and the house looks so much bigger! I also begin the restoration of an antique wall cabinet that had been "destroyed" with a bad paint job. Next up is to re-glaze it and paint it with traditional paints, but in this video I show you how I remove t...

E42 Volunteers Housesitting and Renovating I Work trip to Rotterdam I Flea market
มุมมอง 3.3Kหลายเดือนก่อน
My current volunteers Demi and Noelle have done all of the hard work this week as I was away for work in Rotterdam. It was fun, exhausting and extremely inspirational, but it left me with no time to work on my house but to prepare for an airbnb guest when I came home. Luckily I had made plans with Demi and Noelle to housesit for me and not only did they renovate, they also made sure my cats and...

This must have felt so satisfying to finish up. Great work as always!
It is a huge project. Keep my fingers crossed for you being happy when tired 😊
You have great strength of patience.
Du gör ett fantastiskt jobb 😀👍🏻
Respect your work 👏💪
Du är så otroligt duktig,du kan verkligen vara stolt över dig själv...❤❤❤
Tack 😁
A lot of hard work!! Looks really great. I love that you are doing this and saving this school house.
Thank you 🥰🥰
The power of relentlessly moving through one step at a time, little by little! Love your work so much!
That's so true! Thank you 🫶🫶
So, you paint with both your right and left hand? That's amazing! I wish I could do that. 😊
I guess I do, I haven't thought about it 😁 I just tried it as I was forced to by the angle 😆
Nydelig å se deg gå på med full kraft. Håper du tar deg tid til litt mys og Netflix av og til også. Utrolig imponerende arbeid! Lykke til videre, håper du legger ut mange flere filmer. ❤
Wow!
Thank you 😁
Each step makes it so fresh.
So true 😁
I love to see what you are doing and learning! You have creative ideas!❤
I hope you will like all the ideas I have for the interior design and the decorations then 😁
It is really becoming beautiful! You can do anything …..
Thank you 😁 I think I can do many things, but let's not go there and say everything, that's a lot of pressure 😉
Me: “I can’t do woodworking - it will take years to learn!” Moa: “I just became a professional carpenter in one day.”
😆😆 I mean this repair was daunting for me before I started but once I figured out what tool I needed it was super easy, I was really surprised myself and I think a lot of people would be surprised what they can achieve as long as they dare trying 🤷♀️😁
I love the way you tackle anything that needs to be done! That repair to the trim was awesome. Like you, I like to tackle the worst things first and get them out of the way so that I can move on to the things that I like doing better or that are easier. Keep up the great work.
It's a great way of thinking when it comes to tackle your to-do list. After the hard part it's all a down hill...
You must have had carpenters in your family 😊 lovely job 🏗
My dad and my grandmother, his mother had a gene where they could do many things and I think I have it too. But it's more of a Jack of all trades master of none kind of thing
You're such a role model! PS: Loved the cat prints on the fresh paint - so cute!
Fantastic so nice 🙏👋
Thank you Mohamed 😁

Wow! What handicraft skills; this skirting board is such a success!
I love it too 😁 thank you 😁
Well done!
Good job!😍👏
Hej Moa! Var hittar jag den typ av målarskrapor som du har? Framförallt den stora med olika profiler är fantastisk!
De är från märket speedheater 😁
amazing patience looks a million dollars❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I’ve said it before, you are a creative genius 😊! Great work!,
Goodjob!
Big progress! Well done on your new chisel purchase you really nailed that repair. Are you free to do some light renovations in Canada 😅 You are an amazing combination of skilled and courageous.
Haha I think I am free in 10 years 😉
@@old_school_moaboa I've penciled you in.
@spiffymick7073 😆😆
I am impressed with the repair work you did on the window frames & sills
Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
Can’t beat that feeling of satisfaction! Good job!
True, nothing beats it 😁
Your amazing! The repairs are beautiful!
Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
Great work, Moa. 🥚🥚🥚
Thank you 🫶🫶🫶
its all looking very good. best wishes from Canberra Australia.
Thank you Australia! (I lived in Sydney when I was 18, what a good time I had)
You are a very talented, hardworking girl, you can be proud of yourself.👍🍀
Thank you 🥰🥰
@@old_school_moaboa 👋🤗
You did an awesome job with the trim repair - thanks for teaching me how! I love it! 🙂👍
I'm glad you found it useful 😁
We always enjoy your videos since we've done this on a much smaller scale in our French home. Also, you seem to have some very interesting paint and preservation products. Keep it up -- you're a star!
I'm glad you enjoy it 😁 I was thinking the other day that there should be a place to share different European building preservation practices. A book to start with and a center for courses and things. Don't you think?
@@old_school_moaboa That would be an excellent resource for those of us who are doing restoration. We do envy some of the products you use since we've never seen them offered here in Brittany.
Beautiful work
🙏🙏🙏
You are amazing, so much patience.
Thank you, there is a lot of patience in store because of the love for my house and my dream. One step at the time 😁
Buon lavoro.....sei bravissima 👏👏👏👏💪🙋
Thank you 😍😍🥰
Pretty snazzy! Keep going and teaching yourself. Confidence helps!!
It sure does! And good tools 😉
Wow you were so creative fixing the skirting board! I don’t know how you can do so many things! I’m lucky to be even able to change a light bulb haha, you are so talented. I have binge watched your videos for a while😊
I'm sure you have it in you to master more skills than that! Just try it and if you don't know how to start, learn it from someone or do as I do (google, buy books, watch youtube, ask professionals). The other day I went to a glass master or whatever you call it in English. I needed a new piece of glass for my fireplace because it had shattered. And I brought my glass cutter and a piece of broken glass and explained that I struggled with cutting glass, it always turns to shit. And he was very happy giving me advice and showing me how to do it. Turns out actually it wasn't me, but my new expensive glass cutter was bad and he sold me a cheap one that was a thousand times better and that did the trick! But my point is, I didn't know how to do it, so I asked humbly an expert who was happy to help out, free of charge (I offered him pay for his time but in reality it only took 5 minutes to figure out what was wrong)
Omg you know Ana? 😮 I love her videos too.
Interesting the entry is one of the more “completed” spaces. It’s the first thing you see when you enter and sets the tone for the rest of the space. I like it ❤ so much hard work over two years
Wow so nice done!
Wow, you are an amazingly hard worker with perseverance! Beautiful job on your restoration!
I meant to ask last video,, do you keep and store any wood for next year winter. Not the brush part. Gorgeous home , you should be proud of all you have accomplished so far, I can see all the little jobs done best part your list is getting smaller by the day, it’s little jobs that takes the most time and effect. Good choice on buying this place.😊😊my gran for all the floors would add tea and tea bags broken open and all in the bucket, that’s breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, then dinner and another around 7. Pm all that tea (LEFT OVER TEA I N POT ) Next in the morning we swept, and mopped the floor. I kid you not. Daily even only they were I was taught to mop with the tea and hot water beautifully kept hardwood floors 😂😂😂😂’🤫 they were not HW just what was handy.I was taught to do my chores in order start to finish.everyday. I am 69 50’s& 60’s & 70’were brutal.😅 To make floor
Great music. Wondering why you chose not to tape off the ceiling before painting. It looks perfect from here though. Perhaps it's just artist's preference? Good work. Even though it's hard it's worth it. Wish I could see it all upon completion!
So cooooooooooooooooool
Love them. ❤
What a work, nice done.
