All visitors i talk to at the condo i now have to rent (with no FEMA help, denied because i own and had insurance) they ALL have no idea roads were blocked! PEOPLE THING THERE BUILDING HOUSING (this was a few months ago) so there being welcomed here not knowing people are still being searched for in the debris, 80% havent even stepped foot on their property because its been on lock down and guarded, we were literally trapped in Lahaina for way too fkn long. My husband needed his B/P medication but we were not allowed to exit Lahaina. Stores were closed, electric off, wifi/cell service completely down. When we finally got wifi how many weeks later i had 500 text messages and 40 missed calls. We lost EVERYTHING and the government wont help us. Denied for doing the right thing, as in work hard, buy a home, have insurance, etc... people who rented or had NO insurance got help. Fema screwed up rental prices, $12,000 for a house for 2 adults and 2 kids, which normally would cost $2500-$3000. So we now have to pay for a rental and our mortgage even though our home is a pile of dust. No temp housing in Lahaina and here we are 8 months later. 3000 People still in tiny hotel rooms with no kitchen. Fema pays hotels $700/night for each family per night, times that by 30. $21,000 per month x 3000 family's $63,000,000 and 3000 families is the remaining of who already got placed in a longer term house that fema is paying for aswell. From day 1 they should have used that money to have army engineers build apartments to house everyone then when homeowners rebuild the apartments will house only low income housing people. We list 5 or 6 different low income apartment complexes in the fire. Imagine how many people that housed. I havent heard anyone bring that up, but i cant keep up with all the shit they talk about.
