    Query: what do you recommend for the height ratio between the collet metal (before it goes through the collet punch process) and the stone? ("Height" of the collet metal being I guess the "width" of the flattened wire after you roll it but before you collet punch it.)

    • @metalofhonour
      @metalofhonour 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @JJ-gm1mk it's just the strip to be wide enough to match the stone height. It's only rough, as it all get compressed in the bottom of the collet punch. Any stone up to 3mm diameter, a 3.5mm wide strip. Between 3 and 5mm about 4.5mm wide strip and 5.5mm for anything above that. These are good base sizes. 👍🏼

The more chilled you are, you'll find you'll be happier with the result each time. When I teach people, they generally pick it up fast. There's a diploma course called jewellery academy that costs a fortune and pointless projects. That's the worst one. I've met a few people that have done this particular course and none of them are happy with their progress. Good solid teaching from the beginning and I'd get someone to make this perfectly after a two week solid course. There are good courses around too from what I've heard. Good luck with the jewellery.

      @ I could see that happening .. but for me it wasn’t about the cost it was about the community and needing the education in something I couldn’t get in person help with. This included zoom classes & personal help albeit on zoom. On the flip side I’m super encouraged you are answering me here. I also am thankful for your insight on this topic, lessons you record and lots of priceless information you share to help me and a lot of others in this business. If you had a zoom class I’d for sure sign up even for just one. You’ve got a loyal viewer in me… 👍🏼

    Hola, maravilloso trabajo, yo use un collar con ese trabajo pero más delgado todo, es muy lindo❤, pregunta: como se llama la herramienta que ocupas para cortar y limar recto las piezas ?

      Nice. Thanks for watching. That tool is normally called a mitre cutting jig. Sometimes also called a multi angle cutting jig. 👍🏼

    Thanks for another great vid, really enjoyed it. If I have to make more than 5 jump rings I use a cordless drill, mainly because my left arm does'nt work very well these days.

    Great bracelet. Great how you make the jump rings. Surprising how difficult it can be getting good quality, neat jump rings with a good join. If you’re making a bearing for a single or double gallery claw setting, it soon shows up if you don’t get it right. I’ve made loads of them and had to start again as it’s just not right. Thanks for the vide and guidance.

      @phillbearman359 thanks for supporting Phil, by watching more vids and commenting. You're more than welcome. For double gallery stuff, I always find it best to try and hide them behind the claws.
