Greetings!
We are three fluffy budgies who recently started our TH-cam career. Join us on our daily adventures where we explore our budgie world. We live in a big wonderful flat filled with natural toys and perches. Make sure you don't miss our old crib tour (th-cam.com/video/TfPPdK-frmg/w-d-xo.html). We spend our days chirping, munching on millet and swinging on our fun swings. Wanna come along? :)
Keep munching!

Budgie Breeding 101
I've noticed there's a lot of interest in budgie breeding, but there's little knowledge on the topic. That's why I thought a "Budgie Breeding 101" could be very handy for many people :) Since we had quite some experience with budgie breeding ourselves - and many experiences were not very nice - we thought a video about the basics of budgie breeding would be a good idea to spread awareness.
Maybe you're considering breeding budgies yourself but you're not sure where to start. I hope this video can help you out! I urge anyone out there who is thinking about budgie breeding to think long and hard about it before you start. It might not be what you have in mind!
In the end, I think budgie breeding should only be done by people who have enough experience and who have the time, space, and money to do it properly. And that's why I made this video :)

If bark is used does it have to be treated or untreated? Thanks.
@@avfc666s if you buy the bark ready for use, it’s important that it’s not treated with harmful chemicals. If you gather bark yourself, you can clean it with products that do not harm your birds (just hot water or water with vinegar). It also helps to dry it in the sun because the sun kills off molds. The main goal is that there are no harmful insects and substances in the bark :)
Thank you very much.
No thanks for telling me, I think I want to try and buy cat grass for them❤❤❤
@@kittybudgie I’m sure they will love it! 🥰
This is so true!! 😂 I guess it’s something to be thankful for that they don’t like the scary honey stick. They also clearly don’t like the noisy packaging.. Akira and Blueberry also find noisy packaging scary, and noisy motorbikes, and noisy vans/trucks, noisy raincoats, and any new toys, fruit or veg they haven’t tried, my hand 95% of the time, unexpected visitors, the fluffy budgie soft toy I bought last week… in fact they’re scared of pretty much everything! 😅😭😅 Above all for them, however, is the simple strawberry. I can see it in their eyes…. it’s like I’m trying to serve them a severed (and skinned) budgie head! 😱😰😅 (I don’t offer strawberries anymore 😂) 💚💛💚
Haha yeah, they’re very sensitive animals! Right now ours are scared because of heavy wind and rain 😋 Your comment reminds me of when I showed a strawberry to Misty and Blue when they were young. They ran away as fast as they could 😂

did you build this aviary yourselfif so do you have plans?
@@kyfulton21 no it was built by a company. It was this model: www.macdanielkennels.nl/shop/voliere-toon-links-622#attr=115
Missing those long and frequent videos from this channel. Is there any specific reason for that or is beacuse you have covered almost all related topics about pet budgie care? Anyway, waiting for more videos from this channel😊👍
@@ajithkanna it means a lot to me to hear that 😊 I miss making videos about birds but circumstances have kept me from doing so. I have ideas for videos but I haven’t been able to make time for it. I find it a pity because I really enjoyed making content for the Misty & Blue community but unfortunately I have too many other responsibilities. I hope one day I can make videos again!
@@misty_bluesure you will do it definitely✌🤝
i travelled with my lil bird once but it wasn't comfortable to me and my dad who was driving but i build a good bond with her after we travelled i saw how she was trusting me more and when ever seeing my face she show that she is happy but bcs of my cousin i lost her trust and have to rebuild it with her so this time i haven't taken her with me but if it was along trip i will take her i can't leave her
@@ahumman yeah we do the same. On short trips they stay home and on long trips we bring them. I hope you can rebuild your bond with her soon!
@@misty_blue thx
My budgie has started to scream really loudly in the middle of the night and fly onto the walls of the cage and he just keeps flying around and scream while my other budgie is on the ground scared because the other one that keeps screaming is give him a fright
@@Gracie-crochets our birds have also had that. Especially when there’s stormy weather, they often get scared at night. I’m not quite sure why some budgies have those night scares 🤔 Is it very dark in their room? I’ve seen some people who put a night light and it helped calm down their birds
Usually the street lights Shine abit through the Curtain but we do live in an industrial area so it might have been something that got knocked over out side but I will try a night light. thank you
@@Gracie-crochets yeah noises are another thing that can scare them. I hope you find the solution!
Im trying to find more sources on crape myrtle because i did fine one site leaning towards unsafe but the quotes on other sites say ‘broadleaf myrtle(not crape myrtle)’ is bad” its 2v1 for my search for good and i may have misunderstood the the notes(notes may have been reversed for the myrtles) on the site apposed to them?
Based on my search crepe myrtle is safe. People do recommend avoiding smaller branches that had flowers because they could cause issues. But the other branches are fine. The other myrtle types are seen as unsafe but crepe myrtle is an exception.
I want egg but they don't want to you have tips for me?
I recommend first learning a lot about breeding budgies. It’s not easy to take care of baby budgies, so it’s important to know what you’re doing
Mine bops and shakes his head at the water dish every time after I clean and refill it. Every. Single. Time. Like, bro, you get fresh water at least once a day! 😂

For the windows- if you want a long-term solution, they also make these frosted glass decals that you can stick to your windows ( : they even have ones with smaller areas you can see through.
@@MissusAnon true! That‘s a great tip 😄 Much easier and also less ugly 😋
I need some advice. I have two budgies, Aqua and Sunflower, whom I got on February 15, 2021. They were already older, so they never learned any tricks. Sadly, Aqua passed away on July 15. After three days of Sunflower not eating, I got a young bird who followed her everywhere, but he also died on July 24, and I’m not sure why since he seemed healthy. That same day, I got another bird, but they don’t seem happy; they don’t bond or interact much. Aqua and Sunflower lived outside their cage for most of their lives, going out in the morning and coming back at sunset, which upset my mom because of the mess. After Aqua's death, my mom stopped letting them out, which might be why Sunflower seems unhappy. Sometimes I let Sunflower out, but she tries to get the new bird out too. When I do, he gets really stressed and flies around, which makes me put him back in the cage. Sunflower than comes down again and tries to go back in the cage , and their cage is too small. I’ve been looking for bigger cages like urs but can’t find any in my country. I give them greens, but lately, they won’t eat them, even though Sunflower used to love them. I really don’t know what to do.
@@Vepparia I’m sorry to hear about your budgies passing away! It can happen that the budgie that’s left behind gets quite sad. Maybe it helps your birds feel happier and more comfortable if you try a training routine (either click training or training with millet sprays). You can start very carefully, just spending time with them, offering them millet sprays without getting too close or making sudden movements. Some people also let their budgies have two small separate cages if they do not like sharing their cage. Maybe it sounds silly, but my budgies also like it when I sing to them 😋 And they are very happy when I give them cork wood to chew and when they have high places to sit (they feel safe somewhere high). So I place perches or cages somewhere high in the room. I hope you find out what works for your birds!
@@misty_blue ohh thanks thanks, ill try click training them tho i doubt they'll listen lol
@@Vepparia lol 😂 It’s ok if they don’t listen though. The main point is that they get attention and start feeling more comfortable 😊
@@misty_blue lmao yeah ill get started tmrw

@@gdl357g Glad to hear! 😊 Yeah, although they do have their individual personalities, they all have similar body language and behaviours 😋
great. Is it a flat, or a house?
@@ivanwesteurope a flat.
I just realized That A nest/Hatcher Should not be placed if your Lovebirds or Birds are not ready to breed but It took me months for me to realize but the only thing i saw that The nest is not for sleeping But without the Nest They will feel Cold My Parents told me And We have Slot of rats In our House and They said it is good so they could hide from the rats that are trying to eat them.
@@GoldenNoodle6 I don’t know about lovebirds but budgies do not live/sleep in nests. They sleep on the highest perches to be safe from predators. I definitely don’t give our birds a nest because they will breed even though they shouldn’t. Budgies are very cold resistant but if lovebirds are tropical birds they might feel cold - I don’t know about that.
@@misty_blue Ok Thanks anyways
Maybe changing their place once in a while would help preventing them from laying eggs.
Thanks for the advice!
How can I know if my budgie is too young?
I kind of miss those long videos of yours
Aww, it means a lot to me to hear that 🥹 I want to make another video but I’m kind of in a dilemma. It’s been a very busy time full of change and I haven’t been able to make time for long videos. I need to see what I can do 🤔 It would make me very sad not to make long videos for Misty & Blue.
@@misty_blue dont worry, take your time
I think sand bedding will be a good option.
Yeah, some people use it. Some downsides could be that it’s quite costly and it can get messy.
They are always a delight to watch. 😊
They are such sweet, innocent creatures 🥰
Love your video I use bark chips that’s smells nice and the birds can forage like your wood chips ❤
Thanks for your kind words 😊 Bark chips sounds lovely too. I love the smell of wood 😊
1:02 OMG, put some GLOVES on!!

Breathing mouth open is also a sign of illness
True! Sometimes it’s illness as well
Mine love being the loudest thing in the room, the males that is.

Their screams still aren't half as bad as the conures and cockatoos. Those are actually painful.
Good point! In that sense budgies aren’t so loud.

What about orchid, bark and coconut husk? I’m wondering if that would be OK for my indoor aviary. Right now I have a large roll of parchment paper, but it flies up constantly.
What about orchid, bark and coconut husk? I’m wondering if that would be OK for my indoor aviary. Right now I have a large roll of parchment paper, but it flies up constantly.
Hm yeah, I can imagine that it gets quite messy with paper in an aviary. I think both orchid bark and coconut husk have potential. Most importantly, they should be high quality and not treated with chemicals. And I think it’s best when the pieces are not too small or stringy (I once had it that a bird’s wing got stuck in thread 😨 Thank God she’s fine though). Our birds were always playing with the wood chips in the aviary, so I noticed it was best when the pieces were medium/large size and they didn’t come with toxic elements. Hope you find a good alternative for your aviary! 😊
@@misty_blue That's really good advice. I'm striving to make things nicer. In my local store they sell apple wood and maple wood chips for kindling bbq advertising that they are non toxic and safe to use for cooking so I was thinking they would be fine for the budgies. Any thoughts?
That sounds like a good idea since it’s also considered safe for humans to cook with 😊 And apple and maple wood are both safe for budgies.
Thanks for this❤! Iam planning to make one with coconut shell for my sun conure tomorrow.
My pleasure! 😊 Hope your conure likes it!
@@misty_blue He loved it!💛
Great! 😊
my bird fell of the wardrobe and luckily it was tamed because there was a gap and he came to the side and I stepped him up. I don’t know what to do😢 luckily it still trusts me and is fine
That sounds scary 😯 I’m glad to hear your budgie is ok though! Maybe you can cover the gap somehow so your bird is safe 😊
I know this was a long time ago so you might not answer but what does it mean if I’m teaching mine to step up then when I offer my hand it starts screaming then steps up and quiets down but then I put him back and he screams again for a few seconds?
Hmmm, sounds interesting 🧐 I suspect it’s that it tries to show some dominance because by nature it feels vulnerable so it wants to hide that by screaming. Like it’s warning you before and after that it’s stronger than it might look. At least, I’ve seen them do similar things where they try to dominate each other 😋
They make Plastic screening. I would try that. I have never thought about doing this but will!
Thanks for the tip! 😊 I hadn’t thought about using plastic but it makes sense!
this video just saved me a TON of money. I never even thought about discarding the open shells and refilling
Glad to hear! 😊 It does make quite a difference because they tend to leave many unopened seeds at the bottom 😋
I have 2 budgi male is ok he is very nyc but the female one scream everyday to called me and I came then she didn't came near me she is very annoying what do I do😢😢😢😢😢 help me
It might help if you give her more things to do, like foraging or chew toys or some cork wood to chew on. It can also help when you start training them daily so they become less nervous.
Hahaha bro you gotta be trolling with the post-it’s there’s no way!!! “Some people use curtains” I use Post-its haha that’s hella funny
