An Aviary for our Birds - Is it what we expected?

- We've wanted an aviary for our birds for a long time. But now that we have it, is it what we expected? In this video, we show the whole process, from researching to getting the supplies and building the aviary. Unfortunately, I didn't film much of furnishing the inside of the aviary, but I'll do a tour of how it looks soon!
Although our aviary is definitely not perfect, it's a whole lot better than the bird room where our birds were living. Now they can get fresh air and sun daily =D (At least, when it's sunny outside... :-))
What do you think of our aviary? Got any tips on how we can improve it? Feel free to share it with us in the comments below! We welcome any advice because we are definitely not experts in this field :-)

Hiya, I loved watching this, the aviary looks amazing. May I ask are you in the UK? I wondered are they going to stay out all year? I was thinking of building one for the summer months. Thanks for sharing 🦜
I'm glad to hear! We are in the North of Germany, quite a similar climate to the UK I think (cold, rainy, windy for about 5 months a year). They will stay out all year, but I'm preparing to close of most of the aviary during winter with a tarp, to protect from wind and rain. But currently they hardly look cold, even though it's been below 10 degrees and windy and rainy. I saw breeders with aviaries in Norway and Denmark who kept the birds out all year. They even had chicks with -5 degrees Celsius 😯 Budgies are surprisingly resilient 😊

Thanks! 🥰 It's been a tough season 😢 And we still have a bird that's sick currently. We took her to the vet and she was doing better, but now she's sick again 🥺

Hi sis! I need your help...Just 2 days ago i bought my 2 budgies...they're sneezing too much....and they are not playful like other budgie..

@@_the.budgies_ budgies are generally really good at keeping themselves warm. The space between their feathers and the oil they put on their feathers protect them very well. Our birds are even ok at -10 degrees in the aviary 😯 When they're sick, they do need extra care. We have an electric blanket that we sometimes place under the cage. At night we cover the cage with a blanket. You can also put hot water in bottles and wrap them in a cloth, then, place them on the bottom of the cage. I tried it a couple of times and the cage was really warmer 😊 Our budgies also like to sit on the radiator. We have some cloths there on which they can sit. But I think they especially like it because one of our radiators is quite high and they love sitting in high places.

Today my birds are sneezing a lot more than usual. I am very worried. What should I do? What food should be given to them at breakfast, lunch and dinner? I have no idea about these. please help me
I'm sorry to hear! I never had it that our budgies sneezed a lot. Sometimes they sneeze but it just goes away. It could either be from a type of sickness, some dust or something irritating them, from cold or humidity or from a lack of vitamins. Is there any sun where you live? In winter we get almost no sun, but when there's sun we place our birds outside with their cage for at least 15 minutes. Vitamin D is crucial for their health.
As for feeding them: I always feed our birds in the morning because that's when they are most hungry. I give them their seeds and during the day I check if they need anything else. If I have vegetables or grass for them I also give that in the morning or the afternoon. Right after sunrise and before sunset are the best feeding times because that's when they look for food.

@@_the.budgies_ 21 degrees Celsius? That's quite a good temperature! Or is it 21 degrees Fahrenheit? Here it's 9 Celsius. I really hope your birds will stop sneezing! ☺️

@@_the.budgies_ budgies often get diarrea when they're in a new home. It's because they are adjusting to a new diet and environment. If they eat too many greens and not enough dry food, they can also get liquid poop. You can try giving some seeds with the other food to have more balance. If they were used to a lot of seeds, it can be a shock when they don't get any seeds anymore. You can try to change slowly, making small changes at a time.
