Great video and I’m equally enamoured as I bought a P2 late 2006 D5 in SE spec 3 years ago when I came out of a company car. It was intended as a ‘stop gap’ for 6 months to a year before I saved up for something ‘newer and better’. Fast forward to now and we just can’t get rid of her - best car we’ve owned. Standard maintenance and mine just goes and goes (granted we’ve done a few minor wear and tear bits - front brake calliper, front indicator wiring). It’s now 18 years old and on 160k and everything still works - heated folded mirrors, AC, heated seats etc. Black leather seats (although I’d have preferred cream 😊) are still in beautiful nick and comfy as ever; fuel economy is superb as it’s a D5. Interesting that I’ve never had an issue with front suspension (yet!🤞) - I do take it easy over the bumps and pot holes as well as general driving. Safety features are immense and this is a proper solid car unlike a lot of the tinny stuff built nowadays. Again due to age and value it’s safe in a car park (don’t mind the odd ding/scrape if it happens) and unlikely to be a thief’s target 😊. It also has the rear facing child seats in the boot which is a great feature and handy for smaller ones on shorter distance journeys. My main bugbear is how we’re hammered by the Govt on tax but I’m with you on the headlights (arrgh!) and turning circle - although it is fun 😊 Took two of my boys in this to a car show last summer and when we turned up, the parking marshals asked, ‘are you visiting or have you brought the car to display 😂’; clearly such is the vintage and high regard for these cars nowadays!

Love mine , have both the petrol n/a 163 and the D5 185 . Turning circle is fun to say the least and no such thing as a three point turn lol . Great to see you're keeping a v70 on the road and as you say maintain them and they will last forever .

You know your stuff! The P2 really was the last Volvo. Always liked the story of the Prodrive 'recce cars too - for added kudos!

I have a DF-603… the blades are actually the same blue but opaque! My grandma had one where the blades were butterscotch! The design is the same as yours but the push buttons are round and theres no faux wood. Updated mid/late 70s version I guess. Would love to know how to service and clean it

I just bought a 2006 with the same spec except mine has leather interior, 227k. It has worn very well for such high miles, the previous owner looked after it. The door handles creak when you lean on them. The A pillars covering is coming free at the edges, I see you did an interesting cover on yours, how did you do it?

Same behaviour as my Sanyo fans, a big jump from speed 1 to 2 and a small one from 2 to 3.

You can exchange the transformer for a old style light dimmer rotary switch and control.

I'd love to find one of the 12" models one day - narrowly missed out on owning one, once or twice... I have the 16" version which oddly features a square-shaped grille, making it look a bit like a Taurus!

I was thinking of buying the Foix fan, but im happy i didnt now because of the condition but at least you got it, BTW thx for Subscribing

I love the look of those little Starlet fans. I remember a guy under the name of "djc007" had one of these with a seized oscillator. Dont think it had the same blue blades and accents as yours though.

Good to see that the smaller fan could still be used as a parts fan. I had no idea that they were that similar to the taurus fans and even the idea of them being made by taurus wasnt apparent to me.

If have that in bits or missing half the bits. Ive lost all hope when it comes to working on small stuff. I used to pull apart laptops etc and rebuild them. But dont have the patience. Well done mate 👏

Great video, Richie. Seems like you are finding your feet doing these videos. There is a lot to relate to there being a fellow p2 enthusiast, but although next time, bevs twin will have to make an appearance 😆

Miss my S60 2T, don't miss the turning circle of noahs ark though pmsl, agree though the noise is so nice from that 5 cylinder though! Must agree modern cars just ain't the same as old cars!
