So John Lennon was flawed and had a big ego. And Todd Rundgren thought Lennon was an asshole. Wow. One performer wasn't crazy about another performer. Well that's a first!🤣
Yeah, not only are most artists DEEPLY flawed, but its typically what makes them an artist. Back when he was famous it was much easier to hide who you are behind your celebrity, but nowadays I have learned that celebs are rarely people you should look up to. Get inspired by their art. But celebs are just normal people, who typically have their negative aspects of themselves magnified simply from having money, access and fame.

From your name and clueless stereo typing I accuse you of PROJECTION, just like Todd. Lennon was more than a talent and had the FBI and CIA after him being hated by the war criminal Nixon who killed millions. He refused to play segregated audiences, championed legal weed, started an anti war movement, helped the homeless and changed the world. YOU?? Talk about an arrogant clueless hypocrite. Lennon wrote MANY honest brave songs criticizing HIMSELF. MANY! Who else did that? Yeah, NO ONE! That is NOT narcissism, that is self reflection, fool.
You are so on point with what you're saying... How many ways can one say the same damn thing in 10 minutes??? But I do like the words the speaker chooses and how the words are strewn together. I like Harrison very much he didn't get enough props for his contribution in the band. They don't make bands like this n the Temptations anymore.
This video exemplifies laziness. Instead of writing the narration, the TH-camr puts the narrative that he wants into ChatGPT and you get this muddled mess.
Badfinger worked with both George Harrison and Todd Rundgren for their Straight Up album. Joey Molland said George was a lovely man, who encouraged the talents that Badfinger had. When George went to work on the Bangladesh project, Todd became the new producer. Joey said Rundgren was rude, initmidating and talked down to Badfinger. So, nobody's perfect.
Rundgren's criticism of Lennon could be, at least partly, projection. Perhaps he saw his own flaws in John Lennon without fully realizing it. I'm a fan of both Todd Rundgren and John Lennon, each of whom is (or in Lennon's case "was") an enormously talented artist with an oversized ego. That's not uncommon at the top of the music business heap.
Todd focused on Badfinger and stuck it out until the album (Straight Up) was cohesive and completed. My favourite album of theirs at that point and it still holds up today. Thank you, Mr Rundgren. Joey never forgave Todd for speeding up Flying and meshing it with Money’s ending….
“Struggled with introspection”? Lennon wrote “Nowhere Man” about himself. He said the lyrics in “How Do You Sleep” equally applied to himself. Todd subsequently ended up participating participated in celebrating and playing the Beatles music live. He also played in Ringo Starr’s All Star band. You don’t have to be a saint to work for peace. Lennon admitted he was violent and “jealous.”
@@7colliemac -- It was an afterthought, of course, but I think Lennon actually did believe that there was some projection involved in his criticism of Paul in that song. Having worked closely with Paul McCartney for over a decade, Lennon was fully aware that both he and Paul had oversized egos, and that people with that trait tend to get on each other's nerves occasionally. None of The Beatles were stupid people. Without those flaming egos, they wouldn't have got far beyond being the Cavern Club's house band -- and they KNEW that.
@ Of course it was about Paul, he didn’t deny that, but he said the main point of the lyrics could easily be describing him: “Jump when your mamma [Yoko] tell you anything!” It was also about being a has been. McCartney came closest to matching his Beatles output. He was voted vocalist of the year in 1976 and came just shy of matching Elton John and Bernie Taupin in chart success. John wanted to reunite in 1980, he’s on video tape saying so.
I couldn't get through it. Rundgren is a brilliant performer / musician and songwriter. I can almost guarantee his face was glued to the TV in Feb. '64' when the Beatles first performed for the U.S. Lennon was just starting to mellow when he was tragically assassinated in 1980 at 40 years old. They are musicians, not Saints.
John had a terrible childhood absent father mother who had who knows how many relationships plus they all were born right in the middle of ww2 and John didn’t know how to deal with reality his aunt Mimi tried her best but in the end he just couldn’t deal with the Beatles and all the other stuff he really did try to do what he was supposed to do but listen we all have made mistakes or made bad decisions it’s just that John was always in the spotlight and everybody saw it but in the end it was the music that he made with Paul and George and Ringo and that’s what I focused on the music it’s always been about the music
War affects everyone differently. Both he and Paul lost their mums. Our personality and how we deal with trauma is unique to us. Bill Wyman saw a German V2 rocket destroy a building when he was a child. He and Charlie were the most mellow of The Stones. Lennon was at his worst when he drank alcohol. Angry drunks are always the worst.
I met John in The Hit Factory a recording studio in Manhattan He grabbed me around the head hollering that my song TIE A YELLOW RIBBON ROUND THE OLE OAK TREE which was playing relentlessly on the radio and it was driving him crazy and he said he wanted to kill me This was a great compliment and we spent and hour together ill never forget I found him to be a wonderful person. We were instant friends L.Russell Brown Songwriter
As a young man I used to like John Lennon but as I grew up I realize that the guy was politically naive and an hypocrite. Ultimately I hope his soul is saved.
"Lennon's often overlooked flaws. From his contentious behavior to his combative relations with others in the music industry." Like the music industry is full of innocent little flowers and Lennon is a big, bad wolf. "Rundgren, already known for his bold approach to music was never one to shy away from speaking his mind." So, speaking his mind is alright for Rundgren to do. But in Lennon is perceived as "contentious behavior", right? "When asked about Lennon's solo work, during an interview, Rundgren didn't hold back. Describing it as self-indulgent and overly political." Well, guess what? As "self-indulgent and overly political" as John's music can be sometimes, is still says better things about him than what Todd's music (which is about a lot of weirdness) say about himself. "While Rundgren valued innovation and detachment from commercial expectations, Lennon's work often veered into what Rundgren viewed as egotistical territory." So, you mean to tell me that all that weird stuff that Rundgren put out as "music" is not an egotistical act? There's no other way of viewing it; it's not revolutionary, because it didn't change anything. As opposed to John Lennon's and the Beatles' work that has almost everything to do with the musical revolution that took place in modern music during the 1960s. So, who is Turd Rundgren to say anything about John Lennon's music...
Both John Lennon and Todd Rundgren were exceptional talents who were known for being outspoken and often ascerbic. Suffice it to say, where these two men were concerned, there was more than just one ego in play.
I think the content creator should be asked your last question adsRundgren isn't the one here, at least, stirring the pot and acting like a wash woman.
It seems pretty simple to me. Rundgren had some good songs that I still like to this day. Lennon has far more and greater songs than Rundgren could ever imagine to write (no pun intended). Lose the insecurity and jealousy Todd.
Todd Rundgren's criticisms of Lennon were undoubtedly accurate, and he is entitled to his opinion. Many of us worship the Beatles Lennon in particular, but he was first and foremost, a human being, with flaws like anyone else. His treatment of Cynthia and Julian was appalling. His behavior was anything but peaceful. Even among the best of people, there are going to be others who don't like that person. It's not a big deal. Many highly talented people are difficult.
So glad to hear someone finally say it out loud. I know McCartney is forgiven him friends do. But fans we have the right to resent how much harm he brought to Paul McCartney's heart.
Mozart versus Salieri. No one remembers Salieri. Plus, no mention of Lennon's very difficult upbringing. A father who had nothing to do with him, a mother who gave him away and died early in a car accident, and an aunt who raised him dying as a young teen.
The drugs and marrying the older women aka mother figure. But he did his art in a wonderful way, and was taken away from us because some idiot shot him. On the other hand Rundgren is a cuck that tought Liv Tyler was his daughter, and his short career ended almost 50 years ago, worst thing is he is alive.
Lennon's horrible treatment of his first wife and first son (Cynthia & Julian) is all you need to know regarding his mean and difficult personality. The whole Yoko Ono phase of his life was also very weird. You have to question his ability to make proper adult decisions. Lennon was exceptionally talented, but very flawed in the heart and mind. Definitely a giant hypocrite.
lennon wasn't a hypocrite. he certainly had his flaws, but he openly talked about them and sang about them in his songs and expressed remorse for any number of things (not being there for his son, his past treatment of women, etc). i doubt very many of today's celebrities would be so honest about such things --- and today's audience would "cancel" them if they did.
That is very well informed comment. Much as I tend to forgive Rundgren who is a genuinely brilliant artistic composer/musician, I actually think he was publicly bullied by Lennon. I remember the feud very well. Lennon would call him names in the music press, such as, “Turd Bruntgreen,” which really was extremely churlish but, just like it is seen here within this thread, Americans will always stand by the wealthiest, or the most famous. I have an American ex-wife who claimed that I was her ain’t father, which is overwhelmingly unlikely to have anything in common with truth, despite me paying child support and never missing a birthday or Christmas, too. I lived there for a few years but with the rose-tinted glasses now thrown in the bin, I have zero intention of ever setting foot over there again. America ranks everyone according to financial success and very little else. You can see that trait all over these comments. Speaking subjectively, I will always love The Beatles. However, Rundgren is very fair in his comments. He is, of course, the underdog that had the effrontery to fire back at Lennon's relentless public attacks. Few would dare because you will always get the majority of Americans taking sides with the more powerful. Morality or academic righteousness has very little, if any, value whatsoever in a dispute like this. If it did, these commenters would at least consider that Rundgren defended himself whilst retaining great respect for Lennon. Lennon, quite wrongly, had less than no respect for Rundgren whose only crime was to defend himself. The trouble with that is that few, if any Americans, could care less. Personally, I wish that their mutual disdain with each other never went public. You can see the anti-Rundgren venom here and it is intellectually barren being that it sides with Beatle loyalty grounded in little but their status and power. No one is ever going to change that with Americans as their culture is to always stand with the most famous and fight their battles for them. They cannot put wealth and status to one side. They will always take sides with the more powerful and probably fiercely deny it, too. I would suggest putting it all to one side and indulging the incredible skills that both Lennon and Rundgren exuded. Leave the silly ranking out of it. Lennon for all his faults was as great a band builder as we ever saw on this Earth. Rundgren was certainly a far more accomplished musician, but that doesn’t actually matter. The dispute was extremely sad for fans of both of them, like me. I have to now face plenty of abusive comments from Americans for daring to criticise the beloved bully, Lennon, but I am standing firm on this, disappointed as I was with the whole event and say that Rundgren never surrendered the moral high ground and that the dispute did no favours to Lennon. A rose fell from his laurel when he so viciously picked on him, knowing perfectly well that Rundgren had not a fair chance in hell of defending himself whether he was guilty or innocent. In fact, Lennon was extremely successful at wrecking Todd Rungren’s well earned fan base. That, to those who live in irrelevant trivial little nations like I do, here in my beloved home country, Scotland, gets very little admiration over here. Scots have very little, if any, respect for bullies. We do not tend to rank other souls according to their financial or any other form of power, over their fellow human beings. It is with much sadness that I have to stare that it is quite the opposite in the USA, albeit that of course I am generalising to some extent. Scotland is not really much of a welcoming place for bullies, wealthy, famous or otherwise, which simply is not the case The USA, is unquestionably different, despite which I still greatly admire most of the better traits of American culture and I always will, including the undeniable jingoistic fanboy traditions over there. Nowhere, and no one, is perfect, starting with myself and including Lennon, but don’t ever suggest that to an American unless you want hell unleashed upon you. Just look at these comments here, beyond which, I rest my case.
Lennon is a legend for many reasons. Of course he was flawed, and btw he's not here to speak for himself. So we can agree that we are all flawed. And we were not even a Beatle! Fame is unnatural and can drive anyone crazy. I'm not saying that we should pretend that he was perfect. He died 44 years ago, let him rest and enjoy his music.
Criticizing Rundgren while canonizing Lennon is neither helpful nor enlightening; it's simple knee-jerk reactions. Lennon was a musical genius, but could also be a real bastard; Harrison was so angry with Lennon's treatment of him that he wrote his own biography without mentioning Lennon once. Rundgren ,ay not be perfect, but that doesn't mean his insights into Lennon's character aren't valid.
Harrison hated Macca more than Lennon. Way more. Never once recorded with him after the Beatles until he was railroaded into that Anthology thing where he looked like he was ready to off himself. On the contrary he worked with Lennon a number of times after the Beatles.
@@bingohhhhhhhhhhhhCompletely untrue. They jammed together at Clapton's wedding in 1979, and it was *just* those two, Ringo being the one to decline to play (Lennon, in stark contrast, didn't even turn up, blaming Yoko for not telling him about it!) and Ringo, Paul & George were all relaxed and wonderfully creative in the garden for what you somehow viewed as a 'painful' session for the anthology...
The Beatles were the first boy band relying on session players and a team of songwriters. They just added their vocals to pre-recorded tracks, much like the Monkees.
Have to agree with Todd. Always thought the way so many revere Lennon is odd. The way he treated Julian doesn’t jive with his peace and love persona. Let’s face it, his dismissal of George Harrison was nothing but a money grab. He and Paul were raking in millions as the songwriters of most of the band’s songs. Again, so much for his hippie ideology. He was a greedy, unloving man who made himself on the perception he was the opposite.
Todd is still hurt by the fact that Lennon publicly burned his ego. This is the letter John wrote as an answer to Todd's unfunded criticism; AN OPENED LETTUCE TO SODD RUNTLESTUNTLE Couldn’t resist adding a few “islands of truth” of my own, in answer to Turd Runtgreen’s howl of hate (pain.) Dear Todd, I like you, and some of your work, including “I Saw The Light”, which is not unlike “There’s A Place” (Beatles), melody wise. 1) I have never claimed to be a revolutionary. But I am allowed to sing about anything I want! Right? 2) I never hit a waitress in the Troubador, I did act like an ass, I was too drunk. So shoot me! 3) I guess we’re all looking for attention Rodd, do you really think I don’t know how to get it, without “revolution?” I could dye my hair green and pink for a start! 4) I don’t represent anyone but my SELF. It sounds like I represented something to you, or you wouldn’t be so violent towards me. (Your dad perhaps?) 5) Yes Dodd, violence comes in mysterious ways it’s wonders to perform, including verbal. But you’d know that kind of mind game, wouldn’t you? Of course you would. 6) So the Nazz use to do “like heavy rock” then SUDDENLY a “light pretty ballad”. How original! 7) Which gets me to the Beatles, “who had no other style than being the Beatles”!! That covers a lot of style man, including your own, TO DATE….. Yes Godd, the one thing those Beatles did was to affect PEOPLES’ MINDS. Maybe you need another fix? Somebody played me your rock and roll girl private song, but I never noticed anything. I think that the real reason you’re mad at me is cause I didn’t know who you were at the Rainbow (L.A.) Remember that time you came in with Wolfman Jack? When I found out later, I was cursing cause I wanted to tell you how good you were. (I’d heard you on the radio.) Anyway, However much you hurt me darling; I’ll always love you, J. L. 30th Sept. 1974
i'm a fan of both !! Is this necessary ? We don't need to put every artist under a microscope. We're not meant to like everyone we meet. Saw Todd in concert in Toronto (solo) and he did a version of "You've got to hide your love away" on acoustic.
Is life about making music or treating people well? Personally I would rather be remembered for being good to people than for a talent for music. I love music but it can’t care for you like a good person can
I care what he thinks. Todd Rundgren is a brilliant musician and songwriter. John Lennon was an occasionally good songwriter and a very average musician.
they met and talked. mccartney has talked many times about their friendship being good and how devastated he would've been if that hadn't happened before lennon was murdered....did paul tell you differently? funny about harrison. lennon was livid with him after he fucked ringo's wife. said it was like incest. i liked all of them. take any one of them out of the band and they wouldn't have been the beatles. as i've mentioned, i was born in 1950 i've always thought i was a perfect age.
@@craiggerrard5117 Paul talked about how he and John talked about baking bread in their last conversation. If Paul thinks he got on well with John and you're "not sure", I'll go with Paul's opinion on the matter.
@@wkrp01 When was this last conversation? 1973? Paul was forever saying stuff like this only to be embarrassed when John's actual opinion was revealed. I much prefer Paul to John but there was something a bit desperate in the way he wanted everyone to see them as good mates.
How Do You Sleep, Nobody Told Me, Watching the Wheels, and Mind Games are my favorite all-time Lennon songs. The only thing bad about his solo stuff was if Yoko was on the track then it was usually ruined.
I remember the time in mid to late '60s when my cousins where playing many Beatles albums how amazing those music were. I was young and eventually learned more about the Beatles. By 1967-1970, John Lennon was almost God-like in the rock music scene. So I guess that can put a very huge ego on someone. But then again not so many can really accomplish what Lennon did.
Paul formed the Beatles. "Only a fool would say that" Steely Dan. John Lennon was a woman beater. He stole Paul's music and bought a s***load of heroin from Germany. Remember watching him doing a gram and a half of heroin in one shot. Deported and protested by having a bed in, in Montreal. He abandoned Julien. A musical ignoramus. This is the actual truth. Provable. Your God Lennon is a lie. What are you talking about?
Todd Rundgren is just exposing what JL was like as a person. He discusses his musical brilliance. He’s just addressing his personal demons. Since he was ruthlessly murdered, people have turned him into a Saint. But guess what. The person who would have hated that canonization the most would be John Lennon. He wasn’t a saint. He was a human. Conflicted in his personal life but brilliant in his professional life.
Only if you let it. And you're gonna single him out for that behavior when aboout 70% of all the best musicians, performers, songwriters do exactly the same or far worse.

you might enjoy "Daddy Come Home" written by John's step-mother about John and Alfred's relationship. He even lived with John after The Beatles broke up.
People here are taking out after Rundgren. If you ignore everything he opines about, you still have a jerk in Lennon who seemed intent on confrontation and conflict with a great many people.
At the time John was using art as a medium of therapy and healing. Why shouldn't art be "self-absorbed"? He'd already had commercial success. He was exploring inner feelings. To him this meant being authentic in one's attempts at self-expression. He couldn't keep writing I Wanna Hold Your Hand. Is that what you expected?
During the early 70s, when supposedly those comments were meant, John Lennon was out of control. Do you have somebody willing to call him out on some of his behavior was probably a good thing for him. Todd Rundgren is not the easiest guy to get along with either from all reports and it wouldn’t hurt for somebody to say the same thing to him sometimes. It depends on whether or not the comments or made from a perspective of being constructive or just to be critical.
Of the 4 Beatles, Lennon's personality - especially from 1968 forward seemed to have the most "asshole" quality. Very mean at times. Never got that from Paul, George, or Ringo.
in the Beatles early days John Lennon was called gay by some guy in a bar and he beat him so badly he put him in the hospital. He beat his first wife, he completely disowned his son Julian, her without it, was fucking women in the pews movement while Yoko was in the next room listening to him grunt like a pig on top of some dirty hippie chick And the truth about the Beatles, as if it weren’t for Paul McCartney they would’ve been a very good club band and that’s about it. Nobody but Paul could’ve made that down successful neither George, nor John, nor Rangl came anywhere close to what Paul did in and out of the Beatles. Paul McCartney didn’t go around beating people up and neglecting his kids and shooting heroin.
Not true. McCartney could be very rude and assertive. He treated Harrison very poorly and didn't take him seriously as an artist. Harrison once said both Lennon and McCartney didn't take him seriously which created much animosity.
I did struggle with Lennon singing about 'imagine having nothing' whilst sitting at a grand piano in an enormous mansion set in acres and acres of beautiful English countryside.
Paul wrote that song because John broke up the Beatles and not only that Rod and Alan Klein who is the biggest hug store on earth and caused Paul McCartney to live with no money and no running water and a broken down Scottish farm well the other three beetles tied everything up in escrow until finally Allen Klein screwed over the other three and finally Paul’s money was released. John Lennon solo material with a few exceptions was painfully average, and I’m being kind and his politics defending people like Angela Davis is insane. She supplied the gun that the black panthers used to murder a judge so John Lennon is not a good guy and too many people is an infinitely better song than how do you sleep
@@architechofreality Oh ok based on that I'm gonna stop listening to anything that John Lennon ever did hahahaha. John had many tough times growing up, bullying, his mother's death in front of him , heroin, plus being a scouser they be very different, John himself would say im not a saint, he had street fights, sounds alot like me, many are/ were jealous of them, but I will take to my grave as a 100% fan of all of them 😉 I totally adore them and their music 🎶 GOD BLESS THE BEATLES ❤❤ who made millions very very happy!! 😂😂 😅😅 don't overthink it, peace man ❤ 😂😅😊
Hey Todd get your stories straight. Lennon wrote "How do you Sleep" in response to Paul's attacks on the Ram album, specifically the song "Too Many People" which Paul wrote as an attack on John.
The Lennon backlash is interesting. A guy I follow on Facebook made a recent post that was tangentially related to Lennon, it quickly filled with comments just bashing him. He's been posthumously canceled 40 years after his death, you gotta give him credit for that.
What Rundgren calls 'songs that were overly political' by Lennon, basically everyone around the globe realized those songs helped end the genocide of the Vietnamize by the US, as the US slaughtered millions just to expand their global hegemony.
The reason why McCartney and Lennon had broke up, Paul changed into a different character, part of the post 66 Beatles deal was that Billy ahem Paul was to be the new leader of the band if he was to take on the role of Paul. The attitudes and outward sadness was not hidden from the presence of John Ringo George
I may be the only one on the planet idk but I was always a big Beatles fan but I didn't resonate with or like anything John Lennon did post Beatles. Loved everything from the remaining 3 but John's music just did nothing for me.
Todd's Utopia album, "Deface the Music" was a direct send up of The Beatles. He described it as seeing how close he could get to doing a Beatle album without copyright infringement.
You're not obligated to listen to anyone's music and it's up to you if you care about the artist's personality more than the music or find it irrelevant. No one gets anywhere near the top without a huge ego

Not that it matters, but when I first heard of this group called Beetles, a shiver went down my spine. Then, when we actually entered the era that shiver was more than a warning. From Brian Epstein’s suicide until their eventual disbanding, the group were harbingers of social collapse. Not that they were the focus of that collapse, but the spirit behind, and overhanging certainly was. Lennon may have been the carrier of this spiritual darkness. Certainly, his conduct with Yoko was degenerate and ill fated. So glad they are gone.

While I loved, love the Beatles, without knowing the Tavistock connection one is missing the point . After 66, it all changed . All quite understandable if one really does the research
completely natural that 3 creative music geniuses with completely different personalities could never NOT have confrontation and discord - no way the Beatles or any other band with that kind of make up can survive and operate as a harmonious unit - doesn't make anyone the bad guy

John Lennon was very abusive to his 1st son Julian. He once screamed in Julian's ear so loud it caused that eardrum on the side he yelled at to be damaged. I'm pretty sure Julian is deaf out of that ear. Paul McCartney witnessed him yelling at him like that. Idk how he treated Cynthia but i know he constantly cheated while she was always supportive and on his side. And i think she still loved him til the day she died. She had a love letter that John sent her years ago when they were young, and the money Lennon left her wasn't enough, and she eventually had to sell it to an auction, the anonymous buyer of the letter at the auction was Paul McCartney and for her birthday that following year, he gifted it back to her. Lennon also refused to see his son Julian and didn't bother and was more focused on his new son that was from the hypocritical Yoko. It was also known that Lennon or Yoko tried to keep Julian from the rights from the will. Julian contested the will and was able to get half of royalties and the other brother also gets half. I heard the other son didn't fight with Julian over the birth right and instead of equal about it, Yoko was the bitter one trying to be difficult with the will and the rights that was to go to his 1st born.

ihate john lennon and i normally love anything that shi ts on john lennon but this is some slop
I met a man who grew up with John Lennon, he said he was the kid who made fun of the kids who had disabilities, so I tend to believe this.

From all I've read about Joey it seems he's far from perfect.
Why the need to take down Lennon. Grow up Todd.
God took down Lennon in 1980. Why not Todd too take Lennon down? Todd rhymes with God.

Todd DID grow up . This is sourced from interviews from 45-50 years ago
John was trying to avoid an awkward moment when he said How Do You Sleep was about him.. it was DEFINITELY about Paul in reply to Some People.
Ok
How do you sleep was about Paul. And ultimately Lennon was wrong. Allen Klein ripped them off and Lennon was gullible.

Well said.

I have a new and high respect for Tod Rundgren. I never liked Lennon superiority, & cocky attitude. An extreme eccentric.
People learn and change.
No excuse for bringing children into the world and not dedicating your life to them. No excuse.
Yep, Lennon was the only man in the world to do that. Bad man
That is very well informed comment.
When did Todd work with John? Never.

@@davidlauter1622 For the most part Lennon's solo work was incredibly boring. Go back to first grade and learn the difference between "your" and "you're".
@howlinwind The first 2 albums were masterpieces ! And Runt can't sing for shit !
@@davidlauter1622 The first 2? Lmao. I said MOST of his solo work was boring, and the 9 solo records that came after the first two absolutely sucked. Rundgren's singing is a lot better than John and Yoko repeating each others' names. 😴
@howlinwind We're not talking about Yoko ! Runt is a self centered egomaniac who isn't even in the same ballpark as John Lennon, John's body of work with The Beatles speaks for itself. Every true music lover respects John. most people don't know ( or care ) who Toad 🐸 Rundgren even is. Everyone that has ever worked with "cunt “only has negative things to say about him. He had a couple of " Hits " but no one cares anymore ! ( Except you ) You must really be desperate to be entertained to even consider this" clown 🤡 " anything else but a self centered egomaniac ! It's really Pathetic, I feel sorry for you ! But if you're really serious about some fantastic" Pop " music, check out the album" Toy Matinee " It's some of the best" Pop " music ever recorded !
Those Utopia-era Rundgren songs+then 'new production' techniques were really amazing at the time. They still sound pretty nice today.
No they don't, Doug Fieger's Knack had more going for it, the Rundgren's wimpy ass pop crap.
I dont give a shit what Tod R thinks , hell never reach Lennons status
Okay?
I Ioved John from the time I first saw him when I was 14, but it is a fact that he was a JekyI and Hyde, and couId be extremeIy crueI.
@@Sukijopa After I wrote mine, I remembered once Julian Lennon saying although many people have fond memories of him, the John he knew was often angry. One of John's ex-girlfriend's even said he slapped her after she walked out of a sleazy party he brought her to.
@@Sukijopa How many hours did you spend with him? 0?
Status doesn't mean anything. When you have plastic double standards and inability to work with your band members
Did this start over a few times?😊
You mean nothing to me Todd.. Lennon was for love and peace he was a humanitarian
That's the point...his public perona didn't match his private one or you could say hypocrite...!
Lennon's feud with Rundgren cost him his life. The killer of Lennon was wearing a Todd Rundgren shirt, and was a huge Rundgren fan.
Lennon is the cool one! Todd, not so much...
Todd who??
and you have 11 subscribers why? lemme guess....secret men's channel? www.youtube.com/@beachcomber4141
Don't start your day with-out TODD
@@beachcomber4141 it's Mrs Torrance
If Todd and John Lennon never really interacted, why give Todd this platform
Who cares what Todd thinks about the deceased J.Lennon( jealous)!
No Beatles -no Runt.
He ,"Could be a right bastard" , said all the Beatles , at one time . Like all of us , he could be great , too .
Todd Rundgren, who gives a crap what you thought
for an individual in the business,Todd has had a lot going for him....we don't have to be fans but he doesn't deserve to be treated like he doesn't exist
The OP sounds like a teenage fanboy.
@@ShaneStephens-qz6nb Whatever. Rundgren was two minutes of a Tuesday of Lennon's life. He gave no shits about Dodd.
Just for the record Badfingers Straight Up album is better than anything Todd Rundgrens has ever done !
Todd: ‘Don’t forget about me’!
While I loved, love the Beatles, without knowing the Tavistock connection one is missing the point . After 66, it all changed . All quite understandable if one really does the research
Yoko was a major innovator in the Art field. They had a complex relationship. Despite the rumors. She was not why the Beatles broke up.
@ronaldcanter2044 She's was brutal 🤢🤮 ..John was a smack when he met that.. whatever it is
I agree. They were arguing long before she came along.
Major innovator? You spelled bullshitter wrong.
@kingofallwhites that wasn't me check comments .now beat it
She was a major innovator in finding herself a lifetime sponsor.
The music is all that matters, we are all humans and none that are good
Who on Earth is Todd Rundgren?
@Hercules_88 He's Willy Nelson duh!
Hercules VERY DUMB!
completely natural that 3 creative music geniuses with completely different personalities could never NOT have confrontation and discord - no way the Beatles or any other band with that kind of make up can survive and operate as a harmonious unit - doesn't make anyone the bad guy
i admired both men at one time....greatly...however one seemed to grow senseless before his years
and aged terribly. i definitely prefer the guy still with us today....at least he had a sense of humility and
humor on top of being brilliant beyond measure.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
I'm halfway through this video, when exactly is Todd supposed to speak on this?
Todd Rundgren was nothing compared to Lennon!
Dodd Rundgren IS nothing.
Grow a backbone, Todster 💗🕯🕯💗
No body can come close to Lennon He gave the world wonder full music He is the British knig of Rock And roll So don't waste your Time Talking about Lennon
It was his band until Brian died.... then he got lazy and Paul took over.
@@danielkokal8819 Yeah really lazy - his music after Brian died is the best that was ever done by the Beatles.
@@bingohhhhhhhhhhhh John was famously lazy. nothing to do
with music but about the band itself. Paul assumed a management
role to fill the Brian void when it was John's band. John refused to
rehearse, refused any PR work, lent no direction to the band. Pepper
was all Paul's doing.
Sgt. Peppers was an excellent album full of musical arrangements like no other band. Paul took the reins to give the world one of the Best Beatles albums and Best we have ever heard. Lennon and MaCartney shared credit on all Beatles material but examples of Lennon's solo work don't shine like Paul's work. God rest Lennon and George.
@@mariannferranti7236 Pepper was bold but had weak spots.
Revolver was their creative peak, not a turd in the bunch and it
ran the genre gamut from string quartet to Indian to cartoon to
proto-psychedelic. every song shines like a new penny. still does.
flawless album.
