Echoes of Wisdom Doesn't Set Itself Apart - Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom Review
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is the first to let you play as Zelda! But in this review I talk about how it really just feels like another standard Zelda game. Some interesting ideas are here, but they aren't fully realized and feel like a lot of missed potential.

I love Metroidvanias
มุมมอง 5134 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video, I discuss how Metroidvania games have re-ignited my passion for gaming. In a world where most games are overly cinematic, and over produced, sometimes you just want to play games. And metroidvanias like Hollow Knight, Ender Lillies, Steamworld Dig 2, and the new Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, are perfect to scratch that itch. #metroidvania #princeofpersia #gamingvideos

Best Metroidvania game? Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights Steam Deck Review
FYI games about making YT videos have been a thing for the last decade.
Why would Zelda be different from Link tho? Like, the world of Zelda is on Adventure setting... Why would Zelda being the new protag change the adventure setting?
Like I said I didn't mind it, but I think it's fair that people can associate adding new playable character with new or unique mechanics because otherwise what was the point of making them the pc? So if you have those types of expectations you might be disappointed
I am only 3-4 hours in or so but even in that amount of time I'm just spamming the bed echo and I imagine that will be a theme as I go. I am enjoying it though!
@@daileybeating it's hard to resist the urge to build a bed staircase! Hope you enjoy the game!
I kinda hope they keep the open ended tool box type puzzles for zelda les games and return link to more traditional games like WW and Oot
@@toddhowardforreal3912 I wouldn't mind that. Wind waker is my favorite 3d zelda game
I liked it , it was different being a summoner vs a swordfighter
I can see people not liking the gameplay style, but saying that Zelda plays exactly like Link here? You are either lying or your stupid.
As a lifelong Zelda fan, wish I liked it more. Using echoes for every situation (and by extension using that awful menu) just pulled me out of the experience everytime I started getting into it. Using echoes for combat is straight up not fun.
@@letsgobombo yes they really need to fix the echo AI for combat. It added so much time waiting for them to finally decide to attack or having to resummon them because they'd die too quick. Definitely rough around the edges but shows promise I think. A solid start to build upon
No imagination huh
Personally I enjoyed it a lot but I went in with low expectations for the combat 😂
You should try hard mode.
Idk i didnt like TOK nor this game, idc that u play as zelda, ik they want to take zelda in a different way, but i just dont like the open world and scribblenauts concept for a zelda game, i like the small amount of arsenal that u get and have to solve puzzles with, thats why i really Loved Botw too, yeah the "dungeons" sucked but that was kind of it, everything else was amazing especially on your first play through. This feels like how assassins creed went a different direction so now we have a split fan group. Its going to happen here too most likely.
@@SpoonTaco I definitely hear what you're saying. I think this game at least still mostly felt like zelda. Sure it wasn't totally linear but the relative structure was very "classic top down zelda." I think with some refinement they could really have something here so I hope they keep iterating on it.
I enjoyed my time with the game, but I also found myself with a sense of regret over the fact I'd paid full price for it. It didn't feel worth it. I do see it as a sort of.... 'sign of hope' so to speak. TOTK is my favorite Zelda but I also see the mountain of flaws that it has, and I still believe that it carries BOTW's stigma of "Its not a Zelda game", Since Echoes kinda proved that they can do this open ended approach and still make it feel like Zelda. I do agree that it feels a bit lame that THIS is the 'Play as Zelda' game we got. It really didn't live up to how big of a deal that was for us.
@@ZtotheMills yeah I get what you mean. I think with some more refinement this really could have been something special. I do hope they make another game in this style and get rid of some of the rough edges that this one had
Why you pay full price? Any game worth full price because you have promos everytime, this one i buy pre order with one extra promo so i pay 35€ pre order... I even get the zelda keychain
@@andregouveia3258 I wasn't gonna buy a collectors edition and I didn't want to wait for however many years it took for Nintendo to put the game on sale.
@@ZtotheMills You buy the digital edition? I never do that beceuse is always more expensive ( for nintendo exclusives) with retailers i found alwals good discounts, this for example i had the game in day 1 with 15% pre order and mix with other discount (42% discount total). Some games i can find that i waith 1 or 2 mouths, for me any game worth more than 40€.
Very surprised by the value being worth. Seems very simplistic. And having a linear selection for all the echos seems super annoying. Although I guess when you're just spamming beds all game its not. Overall: M E H
There's another menu you can use that's a grid, but yeah the quick change bar got a little too big. There's still some good puzzles to be had and the world has a good number of secrets to find. Presentation is great. Not a groundbreaking masterpiece but still a solid adventure game
There's no better feeling than getting a diamond medal on the first try. Even white acknowledges the feat
What's your favorite Zelda game?
link to the past
@mdsuave13 that is a classic!
It was a great game but more of the same which is good but it felt more like spiderman 1.5
So, when is that video about the DLC coming out?
It's a good game, but it's not better than Elden Ring.
The game does have a double jump? The platforming never gets too demanding anyway. If you didn't position yourself well, you just recover. You can't expect to always succeed whenever you're playing a game. You can also point the camera down when jumping, if it helps. The combat is fine. It's a pretty good 3D take on Metroid combat. You're supposed to be constantly charging your beam and finding opportunities to shoot missiles. The strafing helps you avoid damage. Even with the original tank controls, the targeting system does a lot of the heavy lifting. Combat is never hard, let alone unfair. If you felt you "couldn't do anything about" waves of enemies, then, sincerely that is a skill issue. Honestly I fail to see how this game didn't age well. If anything this remaster proved how well the original game holds up, they barely changed anything! It's not a proper FPS game so comparing it to something like Borderlands or Call of Duty isn't necessary. Metroid Prime is unique, taking an action platformer and turning into a 3D game. It's its own thing. I'm typing this out as I'm watching and--- whoa whoa wait. The controls aren't poor. Get out of here with that. If you don't like them, or you suck at the game, that does not make the controls bad. The tank controls of the original were fine, and the modern dual-stick controls are like butter. They're not poor. I'm not nostalgic for this game whatsoever, I was 19 when I first played it. When they announced the remaster I downloaded it immediately. It's a great game, not because everyone but you is a sheep and is just pretending, no. Because it's good. People like things for a reason.
This game is a bitch with keyboard and mouse as to parry you have an extremely hard time being able to use the mouse to get the directional block and without a better chance of getting stun (green parry) you will suck at it. Captain here once again is using a controller to play this game because he is not getting the (E) key to go into the cutscene to cut off the body part targeted, try it with a mouse and see what I mean. So...ya you can play it on PC but you will never get a fighting chance without using the thumb joy stick to set the direction, I literally have to slide the mouse more than a few inches in the direction of the blow to get a green, doing repeated over head strikes and my mouse has shoved itself up enough to leave the mouse pad. The secondary issue is it takes rolling the middle mouse button to target the limb, only with the mouse for some reason after targeting the right arm (to get the weapon) it automatically shifts to another appendage, and the targeting has to be redone. I count how many times I have had to attack the same guard to get a chest armor piece because the targeting shifted and I didn't cut the "Body" chest piece, if you are not comfortable with playing with a controller, this game will be a Bitch. NICE.
The sequel is good, the Switch version that is not.
4.1k views and only 65 likes? Yikes....
if you like hollow knight i recomend nine sols, amazing game
I've got it on my wishlist! Definitely one I've been eyeing heard a lot of good things about it
its basicly pokemon but better
You really hit the nail on the head of how i feel about this game except for the narrative part that's the only part i disagree with i think it works for the type of game like this 😊
We get it, you dont like the game. Listening to you whine for 5 minutes is less enjoyable than the game probably is. Sadly i will never know as you have me so depressed I will toss my Switch away.
daaaaang you just read pac for filth and i am here for it 😂
Is this satire? Cause... (also it's not grease, it's a short I, which sounds like the 'i' in 'if') Changing format isn't sacrificing your integrity, btw. Did you also hate Journey? Cause that game is vague and metaphorical.
I was very disappointed with this game because in addition to waiting for a bigger game in terms of campaign and content, I also expected that they would innovate and evolve the sequel with great power, also bringing several new mechanics, but based on what this game presents, it seems like just an update. or a dlc from the first game, it has its improvements but they are few, I expected much more, I thought it was much more of the same, and not to mention that the story is rubbish, a story that disrespects such an important character as Peter Parker, they nerfed it he and they mischaracterized him just to value other characters with the aim of ideological agendas, the script for this game is also horrible, venom too I don't even need to say it, most of them already knew it was going to be shit, but what else made me hate the story of this game is the way it was treated like garbage during the campaign
Yep Talos Principle 1 instantly overtook Portal as my GOAT puzzle game, TP2 is even better than the first!
Massively disagree with you. there. You say the fromslftware games have this 'magic' that the non developers don't have. That's in your mind pal. You can't explain it. Video games are just basically long and drawn out math's equations. Nothing more nothing less. There is nothing supernatural about them.
10/10 I have been playing this game and I was scared to click on it but did and I don’t feel like you spoiled the game as much as you think you did

What is your favorite video game dog?
agro from shadow of the colossus. it's true that he's a horse, not a dog, _but_ he does get around on four legs.
Great video!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed
Sounds like u rushed through the game...some of ur comments suggested u were just tryna play thru it as fast as possible to get it done so u can review it...but yeh I think it's excellent...alot less janky or clunky than most souls games...for example u can instantly use ur heal mid-fight rather than having to escape the fight in order to use ur healing item(estus flask)...I'd like others to maybe implement that quality of life mechanic
@@mre8ballgaming842 I wouldn't say I rushed through it I explored the areas as I was going through the game. I wasn't too engaged by the side content so didn't really do much of it. But I did quite enjoy the game. Yes the whole battery mechanic was a great QoL change including the instant heal. Kept you in the action for sure.
@capn_sarge I just think there's more than 16 hrs of gameplay in this game, especially for the first actual playthrough regardless of skill level...I'm sure it can be speed ran much faster once someone knows exactly the path to take and run by most of the fights
When I clicked on this video I thought it was another guy with millions of subscribers, when the video ended and I saw the sub count I was shocked. You’re really good and this review was great, you have lots of potential, keep up the good work.

Your Smash Bros comment is something I have been thinking about a lot since this game released. Smash has made me go back and try several Nintendo franchises I probably wouldn't otherwise have tried. I hope Astro can have a similar effect for Sony with their classics collection and maybe warrant them dipping into some dormant franchises. I just played Ape Escape for the first time, myself. Great video!

Solid Snake reference was nice to see, and Mario Galaxy and Odyssey are my best 3D platformers.
@@giovanni2910 Galaxy is probably my favorite too! Though the original Jak and Daxter holds a special place in my heart as well

Idk... my first playthrough i got killed left and right. You might be so good at strategy games that you didnt experience the same learning curve I did. On my second playthrough, however, I feel like I've gotten the hang of it.
I've never thought of myself as super good at those types of games, but I will take the compliment! I definitely would have individual units die, or lose skirmishes, but never really felt like I struggled to win the overall combat. Glad you're enjoying the game!
