Oh wow…play on True Zenoiran. Game was a bit too easy even on difficult (1st playthrough). Forces you to construct better synergies/parties, etc. and they use valor skills wayyyy more often (get used to seeing arrow rain any time sniper/hunter is in a tower). Go back and do it again on TZ…certain fights still aren’t as hard as they should be, I still enjoyed the crap out of it and am now stuck trying to find something else to scratch that same itch…
Great video! I'm about 20-25 hours in so far and I'm enjoying it. Playing it in your chunks here and there when I have the time Really like the art, music, and overall presentation. Love the overworld exploration and customizing my army, all great stuff The two things that do get me negatively though are the pretty lazy hand wave "mind control" thing you brought up with so many of the bad guys. Made me not care about the opposing faction half the time. The other thing I don't really think I like is the fact the game gives the exact outcome of all the battles. I much prefer the fire emblem style where I have my hit rate, crit rate, expected damage etc but all that can change based on luck or skills. Having it all shown to me up front I too defaulted to just scrolling through to pick the best option given to me for any given battle. Still excited to play more!
Idk... my first playthrough i got killed left and right. You might be so good at strategy games that you didnt experience the same learning curve I did. On my second playthrough, however, I feel like I've gotten the hang of it.
I've never thought of myself as super good at those types of games, but I will take the compliment! I definitely would have individual units die, or lose skirmishes, but never really felt like I struggled to win the overall combat. Glad you're enjoying the game!
That combat does look reallllly cool. And lmao yeah that "I fixed the mind control spell" is such a trope. And thats for everyone?? lolol They do that in the Marvel games when they need you to fight Superman.
The story choices were in fact intentional. According to the interview with the game's director. And it was also mentioned that their budget for the game wasn't great so they had cut and/or minimize some of the stuff they already had.
What is your favorite strategy game?
This and Triangle Strategy. They both usurped FFT and SF3 for me
@@gotaplanstan that game's on my backlog! May need to move it forward
Nothing surpasses FFT…lol. But this is the best strategy game I’ve played since I was a kid…Brigandine one of my all time faves too. Cheers!

Glad you enjoyed the video! Yeah the game had some flaws, but I still couldn't stop playing it. It's a lot of fun even if a tad too easy.
GOTY so far and BY far for me.
What a game experience ! Masterpiece !
It's definitely an awesome and unique game!

It's not EVERYONE but it's enough that it gets old. Still game is so fun it's easy to overlook
I don't know whether to dock or add points for the cousin chicanery

Shame they didn't get more of a budget, but still super impressive what they were able to put together. Thanks for the additional info!
@@capn_sarge No problem! 👍
Automatic battles is a turn off for me in this game. True TRPG players beware.
A fair point, this is definitely a game that puts itself into it's own genre that blends across a few in the overall "strategy" realm
