I prefered The Well of Ascension, by some distance. I enjoyed learning the magic system in The Final Empire and the ending was great, but the world felt a bit empty. In TWOA, I was hooked from the beginning and then found out that the ending was even more satisfying than TFE. I loved every scene with Straff and every scene with Zane and I thought that the main fight between Vin and Zane was incredible for multiple reasons, the personal discovery of countering atium, the reveal of control over the Kandra and the reveal of the voice in Zane's head, coupled with the tension of Vin overcoming a clearly stronger opponent - best scene I've read in a long time.

You may enjoy elantris more than you expect, I actually thought it wasnt his worst work at all and the premise is really cool

I am so happy to hear that you go for Elantris. (I first read it shortly after I finished the wheel of time and was so happy, that Epic is possible in some 300 pages as well.) But whatever you do, as others have said before me, read Edgedancer before Oathbringer. See it as a grand scale interlude. While you have interludes between parts in each book, Edgedancer is the interlude between books 2 and 3 (while dawnshard is the interlude between books 3 and 4). Edgedancer follows Lift and is a lot of fun. Dawnshard follows Rhysn and is somewhat mind-blowingly different, but adds so much spice to the next stormlight books. Is there an interlude between books 4 and 5 that I am not aware of, anybody?

I read stormlight 1-3(before RoW came out) before Warbreaker, so didnt catch the crossovers the first time, but noticed them at rereads. Currently rereading in prep for WaT :)

was gonna mention that Graves isnt a Ghostblood, but part of The Diagram, but you got it :)

I dont think this is spoilery, but if anyone disagrees, ill change or delete: Moelach and the other mentioned(dont remember the name) are two of the "unmade". They are powerful sprens akin to the stormfather and the nightwatcher, yes.

Another vote to read Edgedancer between Elantris and Oathbringer. It fights right in and is good to see what happens to two of the characters at that time.

Nightblood is not a thing. Deffinately a character.

Also as other have said, after you finish Elantris, definitely read Edgedancer before starting Oathbringer. It is directly relevant to the story and is truly a 2.5, this applies with Dawnshard between Oathbringer and Rhythm of War

You finished the book! I guess now you see why everyone was so giddy all the time following along with you (or at least I was). It’s just such a great book. I will be redundant here and also say that you should read Edgedancer before Oathbringer! You already like Lift and it’s really book 2.5! I’m also glad you’re going to read Elantris next! Always a good move to read the early Cosmere books before launching into the later ones, and it’s also a good book!

So, I know this is awkward… But you might want to consider squeezing in Mistborn era 2 before Stormlight 5. Now that it’s out, we know what it entails after all. They aren’t as long as Stormlight, luckily; if you feel up to it, you could do Elantris now, then Mistborn era 2 book 1 then Edgedancer and Oathbringer, then M. Era 2 book 2, then Dawnshard and Rhythm of War and then finish Mistborn era 2, filling in The Emperors Soul in the middle as a palate cleanser (it’s amazing and also good to have read before the end of era 2 mistborn). Just an idea though, don’t feel pressured into doing so. All we want is for you to have the most fun, and if this defeats the purpose, then ignore this comment.

Is it too much to say go back to the beginning in regards to the blades? I hope not😊

Just to catch you up on the Nightblood part, Nightblood was created by Vasher and Shashara, and Vasher killed her for planning to weaponize this invention for war

THIS IS THE VIDEO FOR ME :-) This is absolutely easily his best book. I enjoy Elantris and that's a good book to read now.. You probably want to take a look at Edgedancer before reading OB but it's not required as such. Have you read Era 2 and the secret histories of Mistborn yet bro?

It has a bit of a slow start, but personally I prefer Elantris over Warbreaker, and i think you might like it too, as you seem to like politics in your stories! But I guess it's never a bad thing to go in with low expectations ;) (and unbeknownst to you, you've actually already met some Elantris-people, so it'll be really interesting to see if you can make that connection! The Elantris-planet is also home to one of my favourite Cosmere short-stories (The Emperors Soul), which I really recommend in general, but in particular before you start Mistborn era 2!)

Just want to say opinions are divided on the next books in their series and different people will disagree (I’ve seen comments I disagree with on this video even). So go in open minded and decide for yourself.

You should give a prediction about Kaladin next Oaths and Shallan next Truths. You will get those wrong but it will be hilarious in hindsight.

No idea why people lower expectations for Elantris. It's simply not as ambitious as the rest, but it's a fine book. You'll enjoy it

I don't know if you've been made aware but all of us Cosmere fans knew who would be the main viewpoint/flashback character in each book quite early on. So while you are questioning who they will be most of us know all the way to book ten who the viewpoint character would be. The order may change as Brandon did swap book 3's and book 5's but we do know all ten and have for a while. (Though the intro viewpoint is always a secret until the run up to each book where it gets released as a preview chapter.) Not that you need to but if you want to be on the same page in order to shape your theories then you can ask for any or all. Of course there is also a chance that Brandon is using our 'knowledge' in order to mislead us or he may just change his mind in the future.

I really loved the scene where Adoulin just murders Sadeas, because previously he's always given off this affable, man of the people vibe, but in this dark hallway you see this glimpse into him really being the Blackthorn's son. Also, I think it's safe to say this will have consequences because if anything Sadeas' wife will notice if he just vanishes. Nice that you're reading Elantris next, it definitely isn't as strong as some of his other work, but it's still very good. I felt it started kind of weak, but it really grew on me, and I like the characters a lot.

I suspect that Dalinar (with his brother) _could_ have defeated Szeth that night, if he were sober and fully sharded up. Szeth was highly skilled but out of practice at this point, but after the Roshar wide murder spree at the behest of Taravangian Szeth's skill rose even more dramatically. I'm not saying Dalinar _would_ but it would certainly be a lot closer.

So many times during this I just thought to myself “oh, just you wait!” To something you said. Thanks for doing this! Elantris is a fun read. If you’ve watched any of Sandersons advice for new writers its funny how much Elantris exactly follows those guidelines :)

Since you've actively started looking for Worldhoppers - here's a little tip: i've found that (and i think this is a quite established method) it is very helpful to have an extra eye on the expressions and swear words people use - they're probably gonna be quite careful with how they use any "magical powers" (if they have any) but saying some version of "Rust and ruin!" if you're from Scadrial, or referring to colours if you're Nalthian, is pretty hard to avoid ;)

its worth noting that by the time you finish Oathbringer... by word count SLA is longer than all the rest of the cosmere combined (it might be that it might be rhythm, but regardless) so it is extremely expected to see more OVERT crossovers within SLA. however, that being said, Sanderson has committed to saying that you will NEVER have to read other series to enjoy the one you're currently on, so any crossovers will be explained within the context of the current series. this is why Nightblood isn't called an awakened sword, he's called a shardblade, because Szeth doesn't know what awakening is, but he does know what a shardblade is. and if you haven't read warbreaker, shardblade is close enough. its "a shardblade but weird." also congrats, you're out of the prologue now hahaha. parshendi were never the enemy or voidbringers, they were just people. NOW you're ready to see some voidbringers!

Before you jump into Oathbringer, another good choice is Edgedancer, which is a novella set between stormlight books 2 and 3 and follows a few of the side characters, basically re-introducing them now that so much has changed. It's a much lighter read than most of Sanderson's other works, and is still one of my personal favorite things he's written! Hoping you enjoy Elantris, and the rest of the cosmere works going forward!

You definitely need to read Edgedancer as well. I think you’ll like it since it revolves around Lift! I also suggest that you think about some of the clues that may help to I dentify world hoppers going forward! Language and looks will give them away most often.

Ok. A couple of questions. 1) the first sentence of chapter 10 says "the world ended and Shallan was to blame". Any theories? 2) that shallan sword is not a typical shardblade because it doesn't need 10 heartbeats, it's not an honor sword so it's a spren sword, like syl. But if Shallan hadn't yet sworn to third ideal, and Pattern is just newly bound, that spren sword can't be Pattern. So where the hell did Shallan get that sword and what spren is it?

There's also Edgedancer which is a novella centered around Lift. It's kind of meant to be read between Words of Radiance and Oathbringer if you so please. I actually read Warbreaker after Words of Radiance so my Nightblood reveal was quite a bit different. In fact, I didn't even realise it was Nightblood was until I went back to check the epilogues of Words of Radiance wondering what crossover people were talking about.

I love watching your reactions; it reminds me of the first time I got to enjoy the discoveries in these books. Suggestion: Read Edgedancer before the next book.

It is good that you are reading elantris, stormlight archive has elantris stuff in it

Ooh, I've been waiting to see your reation to Nightblood, and you did not disappoint! I think Words of Radiance was his best long work, Oathbringer is really good, the next two books after that (in my opinion) would benefit from being shorter - they feel like long slogs to me. I cheered when you said you would read Elantris next. It was my first Brandon Sanderson book - when I heard he was taking over for Robert Jordan, I ordered it and read it and loved it. So, yea, the characters aren't as real feeling, but the story is amazing, and I can't help but still loving that book. Other's have mentioned Edgedancer - I'd recommend reading it before Oathbringer, Lift's story becomes more important and you'll learn more of her backstory by reading it.. It's fun and not too long.

Two things: I strongly recommend you read edgedancer as well before Oathbringer, it's set between books 2 and 3 and provides some more character growth for a couple characters. Also, a question to maybe consider: you now know that living blades are the radiant spren physically manifesting, what do you think living armor is?

The people who were with Moash are not Ghostbloods. It is directly confirmed buy them talking about the diagram. They are part of an independent branch of the same group founded by Taravangian. They have nothing to do with ghost bloods. You must have missed the dialogue, it happens in the final few chapters. Edit: ok my bad. I watched only the first few minutes but you later acknowledge that they are part of diagram.
