When I was in school in Palo Alto, California, I was told that every Indigenous group's name for themselves was "the real people." The implication was that every group is nationalistic and xenophobic, dehumanizing outsiders. I heard someone make this claim very recently. I think this claim is at best a misunderstanding and at worst a projection of nationalistic colonial attitudes. But I am still struggling to understand how the story reached me and what might be a better way to see all my relatives. Thank you for sharing your perspective!
I learned about you on my homework!!!
Thank you. I really love your style of teaching
Boozhoo
Thank you for the subtitles!
The word Aanii (my dialect) or Aanii'n in other areas, also means to see. I was taught this word mean't "I see your light" we shorten that word Giga to Ka-waabamin.That gets confusing because Kaa means a firm No!! The language is so elegant. the most beautiful and simple languge on Aki!
Awe nice!

I wish you would add the spelling to your videos. Love these!
What is that writing beneath the English letters?
Just found you and your channel. Hello from the White Earth rez! I want to learn more about the language. Thank you for doing these videos!
Thank you for pronouncing it for me. I've been pronouncing it slightly wrong.
In a couple of days , I have the honour of giving an acknowledgement and a blessing at an event in Ontario. I conduct the druid ceremonies as Archdruidess at Stonehenge in England for Equinoxes and Solstices but since childhood have had a deep emotional connection to Anishinabe culture. Now I find myself in Canada on Anishinabe land realising how similar Druidry is to the 7 Grandfather teachings. Please do make contact James. Love and Respect🙏
Thank you.
I recently bought your book, which is recommended by Midegah, and I have thoroughly enjoyed reading it. However, to be able to hear your presentation is a true gift. A heartfelt thank you for bringing this ancient message into this present time.
Your teachings are mezmerising. I will get your book.
Lovely. Thank you so much!
Miigwech! How do you say teacher?
Is it possible to translate the spelling of this word into English please?

My daughter is Souix, Arapahoe and Cheyenne. I wonder what her family would speak.
You are a breath of fresh air..there are others that are so angry and may have the right to from events in past...but in order to teach and for us to learn...its easier to be greeted with a loving heart. Thank you.
What are the Latin names for these local Wisconsin Native medicines? I'm interested in purchasing and planting them to learn more - I can't seem to shop for them in native nurseries with their Ojibwe names. Thank you for the dialogs that you are creating.
Fascinating! What a completely new and fresh perspective. Thank you ❤
I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED ROCKS..WHEN EVER I VISIT A NEW PLACE I TAKE A STONE DIME SIZE HOME FOR REMEBERENCE. MY HUSBANDS AND G-DAUGHTER ARE ALSO NAMED ROCKY. 😊

Thanks for sharing this! 💯
Thank you for providing these talks. I am learning so much. In the transition to my next career, I am hoping to educate and inspire people to protect our waterways in Michigan. I feel so drawn to water and in a way most cannot understand. My grandfather was from Mt. Pleasant, possibly Ojibwe. No matter where we move to, I must seek out the nearest water source, even in large urban areas. The smell of clean lakes and rivers is intoxicating and it calms me. I have discovered a very strong interest in river otters, too. Again, thank you!
Thank you very much I found you searching from our native words and will be following to learn more.
He looks like my friend Uyghur man
I will start listening to you and learning the language of the indigenous people of Leelanau County, MI...miigwech, James!
