I go to my first CAP meeting next week. I have a few friends that are in CAP and they invited me! I will be having to apply for a Curry Voucher, but I’m still so excited! I also know another friend who is joining so I’m very excited! Any tips for your first 3 meetings?

I greatly enjoy your videos. They are very informative! However, respectfully, I do not think what you said at 3:15 about a higher grade officer saluting a lower grade officer outdoors if the lower grade officer had a command position is correct. The CAP training materials for L2 Customs & Courtesies say "In Civil Air Patrol our grades are a courtesy reflection of experience not backed by a commission or contract and may or may not be aligned with position. In general; with few exceptions, the junior grade always initiates the custom / courtesy, regardless of authority position. It is possible to have a 1st Lieutenant as a squadron commander with a Lieutenant Colonel for Operations officer. This can create some confusing situations considering seniority and grade. It is important not to confuse authority with courtesy here. In the previous situation, the junior officer (1st Lt) would initiate the salute to the senior grade (LtCol), but the 1st Lt holds the authority as the Squadron Commander." This is aligns with CAPP 151 Respect on Display, which says "For example, in CAP, a captain may command a squadron that includes majors and colonels as its members. [...] Still, the lower ranking officer should initiate the salute. And looking at the matter from the other side, the higher ranking officer should respect the junior officer’s position." The only exception would be if the higher grade officer was reporting to the lower grade officer.

Sorry it’s been a long time since you posted but I’m going into seventh grade and thinking about joining because it’s at my school. Do you think it would be fine to get my boots at a surplus store or online? If you could respond it be greatly appreciated.

I have particularly benefited from at least 3 or 4 of your TH-cam videos. Mostly, your material on specialty tracks and technical aircraft subjects. These subjects and topics go right along with my Naval Class A Technical School training. You are going to be an absolutely outstanding USAF Officer, if you haven’t been commissioned already! I just got my Mitchell but my epaulettes for my class A blues don't have velcro. How do I fasten them on to the coat?
