A few things that weren't mentioned in the video but I thought are interesting:
All of the personnel that acquire the grade of Colonel, by default, only have that grade temporarily. It is only upon the successful completion of their duties (and in most cases the recommendation/approval of a higher authority) that they get to keep their grade permanently.
Additionally, other people can be promoted up to Colonel without serving in those command positions or special billeted positions if they meet the "Exceptional Qualifications" standard.
Finally, those who serve as National Commander/Vice Commander will also keep their grade permanently upon the successful completion of their term (and in the case of the Vice Commander by the recommendation of the National Commander), unless later revoked by the Board of Governors.

I was a TO and TFO back in the day. It was the best rank ever! People didn't know if they should salute me or shake my hand. I wish we allowed it as an entry level rank for all SMs..

Honestly, FOs don’t get much recognition because of how rare we are, there are only two in the state of Wisconsin

Current TFO here. Only one of a few less than 5 in my wing. I'm in a big wing also

@@spencergardiner5415 Transitioning Cadet to Senior Member here. There was exactly one Flight Officer I've seen before, and its the simple rarity of the grade that has inspired me to stay in the program as a Flight Officer and helping other cadets instead of letting my membership lapse and going inactive.

When you're automatically a 2nd Lieutenant in the Civil Air Patrol Air Force Auxiliary after serving 6 month as a Senior Member without ever going through OCS- Officers Candidate School or ROTC- Reserve Officer Training Corps and it takes the Cadets years to earn there Billy Mitchell Award to reach 2nd Lt. When you decide to join the Military will give you E-2 we stopped offering E-3 back in 2015.

Senior members do not automatically receive 2d Lt in Civil Air Patrol's current education and training system. There is a set of required training modules senior members must complete first, and it takes several hours to complete.
My understanding is that the USAF gives E-3 for Mitchell, but the other US military branches do E-2.

Hey Redberryweo! I posted this on your drills and ceremonies video and I wasn’t sure if you saw it. I just have one quick question. Do you happen to have a full length photo of you demonstrating parade rest from the front and rear views? I only ask because I noticed you didn't demonstrate it from the front and when you did from the rear it was cropped to a portion where we could only see your hands clasped behind your back but I am not able to see your leg positions or your head. I think it would be better to be able to see the position from the entire body rather than just a portion because in a position like parade rest, several things happen throughout the entire body and not just one portion.
If you don’t have a photo or video of this in full length, is there anyway you can take and send me (via email) 4 new full length photos of yourself polerfirming parade rest (1 front and rear Army version and 1 front and rear Air-force version) so I can see what the differences of Parade rest look are between the army version and the air-force version while at an equal size and full length? I only asked for both because you emphasize in a future video the air-force is different from the army so I would like to see them both together. If you can do this I will give you my email to send them. Thank you so much for the informative video!!!

This is the Army style: drillpad.net/Graphics/Fig3-2.jpg
And here is a photo of the USAF style:

      Hope that helps!

    Great video as always!!
I have been contemplating on joining civil air patrol for over a decade. I am now older, so I would have to join as a senior with no military experience and an associates degree is college. I am not for sure if college accounts for anything, lol.
What kind of benefits would I get out of joining now as a senior level and will I still get assistance with my private pilots license?

    • @Redberryweo

Great question! There are quite a few benefits to joining as a senior member. Unfortunately, you have to already have your PPL to be a pilot as a senior member- flight scholarships and training with CAP CFIs are only available to cadets. However, you can do something called Air Crew, where you can be a mission scanner, mission observer, or airborne photographer, and there is no cost associated with the training. There are lots of other opportunities within the cadet program, emergency services, and aerospace education (CAP's main missions), and there are over 20 different specialty tracks you can get involved with.
Prior experience in the military or college education is not required!
      Hope this helps! 😊

@@Redberryweo I did some background research on becoming a TMP (Transportation Mission Pilot) with the CAP (since it's something I'm super excited about) and found that in order to qualify you would have to take courses provided by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Administration) and complete all ICS 100 courses. Additionally completing at least 50 hours of cross country flying time (either in your own private plane or within CAP provided aircraft) is another requirement and complete an emergency services quiz. Probably not in that exact order but it sounds like quite a bit but very rewarding in the grand scheme of things.
Just thought I should put this here for verification if maybe they changed their protocols and I'm not aware or if perhaps this is the newly updated information on their website you maybe never looked into as a cadet? Thanks for all your help😉
