My Childhood Memories of Sonic the Hedgehog
Loved the older games, haven't played the newer ones but I want to. Thanks for the nostalgia hit!
excellent video, thank you
Way of the samurai 2 is my favorite. I love how many NPCs are around, how they talk to each other and to you. I love how reputation builds and soon you have people singing your praises or shops denying you service. It is so alive. The first and third feel desolate due to the lack of people around
More power to ya for your preferences, nothing wrong with different takes. I like the lonely vibe the first game has, it fits the setting. And I still felt the world was alive. The third game also had a lot of NPC’s all over, that game is far from desolate in my opinion
@Forrealsyall I have played the 3rd a limited amount. I am planning on buying it and playing it
Great review! It's true, this game can be a real pain in the ass 🤣
We played the first one so much with my best friend. We tried to get a lot of different ending, though we often ended up getting the same because we were hot-head.
most insane obscure gamestop pickup of my life it was like discovering very strange buried treasure
Played that game all the time it's a nikka gem fr
This video got me to try 1 and 3 and I can't belive I never heard of this series until now! I love it!
Definitely needs some remakes
anyone else have fond memories of the first game and the blacksmith's moans?
I love this series so much... so sad we never got the 3rd one. D:
I was introduced to the series with WotS4, and it took me awhile to get comfortable with how slower and more methodical WotS3 was... i loved them both equally, but WotS3 clearly is the peak of the series and the one i probably replayed the most, even with it's flawed PC Port.
The games are awesome. I'm not a fan of the fourth one but one and two I have practically memoriized
You forgot to mention two of the great things they added to the 3rd and 4th game. One of which was in the 2nd game I think too. Those being... 1. Finding/running your own Dojo (this introduced in the 2nd I think) and from there take all the styles/moves you learned and mix them into your own fighting style. 2. Taking swords (and other weapons) to the forge to be broken down and remade into custom weapons. This I found interesting in the 4th by taking the longsword blade and giving it a katana hilt and suba, or replacing a katanas suba with a crossguard. lol I found these to be great additions to the 3rd and 4th game cause it added a greater variety of customization to the games. Now, excuse me as I practice my ninja fighting techniques with my katana hilted longsword.
The graphics looks so terrible
Glad I found this video. I played the second game loads but couldn't remember what it was called anymore
what about sekiro?
I wanted to focus on 1 on 1 fighters.
14:34 As far as i recall do the guards do not attack you on sight because you did an evil playthrough previously, but it has to do with the Town's order stat, which you can affect during your playthrough. Low order will result in there being no guards at all really, and the few that are there are much more jumpy. It also has to do with the Meta narrative, of every playthrough being another Samurai entering the town.
Yeah I really just rushed the WOTS4 section just because I wasn’t liking it, so I could have done more research on that.
my bro and I somehow snagged a physical copy of SBK2 before it got too expensive when we were kids. Underrated game.
i played godzilla generations at my local toysRus when i was a kid and god damn the dynamic building destruction really gave me serotonin rush. i have never seen anything like it before at that time.
I can only imagine, haha
this game is very goooddd, i was addicted to gundam assault survive, and when I notice this game with better graphic and animation, i was shocked! Hopefully bamco will release something similar to the uc timeline again with better graphic
I loved this game so much
I bought WoS4 along Yakuza 4. I always thought if WoS could be fusionned with Yakuza, you would have a perfect game. Though they tell their story in very different ways. Gameplay wise Yakuza is the big brother. They share a lot of things but Yakuza is more refined. Combat, graphism, minigames, map exploration very similar. If they could use it to upgrade everything. Not to be exactly thr same but as a reference.
Samurai Shodown 2019 is so good, and it got rollback netcode 👍
great video, played the first game about 100 times
If we could just have uk specter and professor in the us version it would be perfect
Sam Sho and Last Blade are the GOATS of weapon fighting games. You could say Soul Calibur is better, but SC has always been 3D and there is something special about 2D sprites that cannot be duplicated.
OH MY GOD YES I AM SO HAPPY WE FINALLY HAVE POSITIVE COVERAGE OF THIS GAME!!! I did a video year ago covering this game where I talked about obscure childhood fears, seeing that you were able to interview the developer of the game was very exciting and learning that Marcus bought rights to the game makes me really happy. I admit I had no clue Gast scaring system affected the time of the final train, but I guess that makes sense. I am surprised you didn't bring up the spiritual successor to this game at all, Grumpa. Grumpa uses the same system but also adds combat mechanics. It also does have decent amount of puzzle mechanics. But seeing the concept art of the game and hearing about the game getting a followup just makes this girl so excited!!! I really hope Gast followup pans out well, and I really wish this video gets more attention!
Thanks for the very nice comment! You’re right, Grumpa could have been good to mention. But oh well, live and learn. And yes, talking to Marcus was so cool! He was such a nice guy and we had a lovely chat. I really hope he’s able to bring Gast back in some way because I think it’s wonderful.
Haha stinky poo poo!! 😜
❤
I'm glad I found someone who loved this game as much as I did.

I rented “Way of the Samurai” at blockbuster many years ago. I didn’t realize until I watched your video how in depth the game was.
This got randomly recommended to me and now I know what I'll play next.
Way of the Samurai 1 was so iconic. ❤
Way of the Samurai 3 is like The Witcher 3 set in Japan :)
The PS2 era included some of the most unique and underrated Japanese video games of any decade. Something about the platform really created plenty of special experiences from Japanese devs and sometimes with a little bit of charming jank. I remember being blown away as a kid by Way of the Samurai but it was too hard for me at the time.
The WOTS games really capture that "You're just a guy who happens to be the (wrong/right) place at the (wrong/right) time" vibe and despite being kind of buggy - like how the Instant Death modes seemingly never take into account properly enemies who have health gated cutscenes - have enough to do and mess around in them to make them worth playing.
I've played the first two games so many times I cannot count. I love this franchise so much, I really hope it makes a comeback someday!
Now I’m not a fan of samurai in visual media because most movies and shows tend to make it boring and repetitive but this is awesome like I’ve never seen a game like this before to be honest. Thanks for the info!!
My favorite series hands down. And it’s stinks 3 isn’t even on Xbox marketplace anymore.
I played way of thr samurai 2 as a child the game was so mysterious and strange to me, it was probably the first time id ever experienced a game set in japan. I still look back on it woth nostalgia
I can’t believe you forgot a game. Samurai Western for the PS2.
That’s not a Way of the Samurai game, it’s the same devs sure, but it seemed too different. I chose to stick to the games specifically called ‘’Way of the Samurai’’
With no familiarity with the series, I bought Way of the Samurai 3 the day it released in the US. The game took a little while to click, for me, since the story beats are revealed through "inklings," interactions with characters in a particular place. But these are helpfully called out on the map, unlike in Dead Rising, to which the game often compared with its branching story and multiple playthroughs. And I was hooked after the first ending I unlocked, where you become a bandit king. I just got back into it on Steam, after 15 years, and got pulled in again. Great video, thanks for spreading the word on this series.
I got Way of the Samurai 4 on impulse when I was a kid because I wanted a cool samurai game. I was not prepared and was blown away. I own WotS 3 on steam, and this video just reminded me to reinstall it and give it a proper go.
The story on wos4 also progresses when you bang a girl of your liking (sadly it doesn't affect plot)
😂😂
Always waiting for another OG like Way of the Samurai.
I used to pretend to be the first game characters with my friends at school making those exclamation noises and then entering combat with rulers and pens
Nobody talks about this beautiful series. I dont think I ever played 3, but the first two are classics.
I'm still really salty over Legends 3's cancellation
