Nothing big to report on this time around, visually at least. Four ALC-42Es and 66 Airos were in production as of last week, enough cars for all Cascades trainsets and around three NEC sets. As for other orders, ACE and EXO units are also currently being registered for shipment and Metro North testing in Colorado will be coming to a close soon, with both units continuing east to New York after.

Great footage! Siemens definitely needs that second plant to free up space.
They did the same thing with 3 other units. 1801, 1803, and 1852. The 1803 was on PSAP from 2017-2024. Also the 1854 is still on PNWR rock train but failed to be sold to Oregon Rail Heritage Foundation

Why do they need a new model for ever system that orders Chargers now? I don't think the EXO units are any different from any of the other current Charger models.
They're not in fact different. It's mostly a vanity thing that Brightline initially demanded because they didn't want people to say that they're using "the exact same rolling stock as Amtrak" (Pacific Surfliner). And from then on Siemens just kept giving new model designations to every new Charger order. All of these Chargers are the same locomotive in slightly different trim. They do not have any alterations to non-critical systems, just slightly different specs. Railroads always were extremely petty and image-obsessed organizations. It's funny to see that they continue to be as petty as ever going into their third century on this planet.

They have to be made to Canadian specs, which are different than US standards

Honestly, Siemens needs a larger facility to separate the Venture fleet from the light-rail fleet. Also, they need a better way of getting trainsets finished. This constant storing of cars that aren’t completed is getting old!
Hopefully when the North Carolina factory is complete, That will fix this problem as train building will be distributed between 2 factories instead of it all taking place at 1. This will also mean that train construction should go faster.
The car storage is intentional, it’s so delays on any stage of construction don’t mean delaying work for the other stages
That's why they're building a second facility in NC due to the sheer size of the orders they obtained.

@@peterfrank29 Last I heard they would be shipping after the next VIA set, which left a couple days ago. Apparently they'll be leaving without any decals/wrapping as well, likely to get them out sooner to clear up space.

1:18 All 1C Venture configurations will likely be for Cascades according to an asset sheet released by Siemens. Standard Airo sets do not have 1C as an option, while the Cascades sets do.
