This is why I made this channel, I want to help anyone interested in building a home gym to do it the right way, so you can save money, time, and avoid some of the headaches I faced along this journey.

One design flaw - the locking pins push ‘inward” to lock. problem is when using gloves etc, your hand can often rub up against the pins when you use them and they will “pop” out and unlock. A better design would have had the pins pop out to lock.
@@Spp235. yeah the locking pin can be an issue for some. I haven’t had any issues, but it’s definitely an area of improvement.
Thank you for this detailed video! Would you still recommend this machine? Do you still use it?
@@kobdog360 yes, I use this machine often and really enjoy it. If you have the space and want a dedicated seated row machine, you can’t beat this one.

@@WiecznieNieNasycony Ironmasters are great!!
@@GoreckiFit Changing the weight on ironmasters takes a few seconds. I don't know what people have in today's gyms to do everything on autopilot; that's why they don't look like they lift. They train the same way.
@@WiecznieNieNasycony yeah it doesn’t take long at all. IronMasters I think will always be one of the best. Been around for a while and has proven the test of time. Overall you can’t go wrong with them.

Great review! Also, the Black Widow cart looks amazing. Did you need to request additional storage for the micro adjustment 2.5lb plates?
@@zacharyharms3149 thank you!! No it does come with storage for the 2.5lb plates but I do believe they made some design improvements where it’s not the same bracket that I have. If you’re interested, I’d contact Dean from Black Widow and check the current option he’s offering now.
Hey bro how do you get that lighting across the wall at 4:34?
@@rozzaali 4 foot tube light off to the side.
What are you using for the hip thrust? Set up wise.
@@zacherymassey6352 that’s the hip thruster lite bench from BC Strength. It’s only rated for up to 500lbs including user, but so far I’ve really enjoyed it. I also have their bar too and plates and I’ve been using it for a while outside of this setup but works well.
@GoreckiFit thank you kindly as my wife is obsessed with that one movement and I plan to buy the VTS in like a mth
@@zacherymassey6352 of course!! I almost bottom out ROM as you can see in the video but still can get a nice ROM and feel the movement. Just something to consider, you can put plates under your feet to improve the ROM a bit.
@GoreckiFit hey what pad are you using on bar. I might steal your set up... it looks great.
@@zacherymassey6352 go for it! It’s called a squat sponge pad that I found on Amazon. It’s not really meant for the large diameter of my bar, but it does expand enough where I just popped it on there and as long as you rotate the pad so the opening is toward the ceiling, it stays on just fine.
I demo'ed the 125 at the showroom and there were no drawbacks. there was no way my medium-sized hands were going to pop the pins and the adder weights worked great. there was no interference from the rails as I could do goblet squats as you showed and pullovers. the asking price is fair for what you get just too rich for me so I didn't get them.
@@roetken glad you were able to demo them! They are a nice set of adjustable dumbbells. I’ve got a buddy who has larger hands and his knuckles come close to hitting the pop pin but he’s still got a bit of clearance.
I've got the 125 repn's. They are fine, but the fact that the numbers on the adjustment rails don't line up clearly a QC issue and that they still have not released the compact stand or even the price. I'm not impressed with Rep at this point. Thanks for sharing
@@itsatoolthing6323 yeah they still haven’t released the expansion plate sets either. I’m very surprised they didn’t prioritize the compact stand over that cart. No release date or price is disappointing too.
10:42 the handle isn’t steel either. It’s aluminum.
Yea I was annoyed about this. Coop from GGR and Gluck mentioned this. They did this to get the starting weight down as it is different from the Canadian Peppins which is steel. Actually one of the reasons I cancelled my preorder last year that and coop was having an issue with the pop pin sticking and not releasing.
The handle I believe is steel(the knurled handle) which is nickel plated, the ends and possibly the rails that are bolted on are aluminum to get the weight down like you mentioned. I haven’t had any issues with the pop pin. I messaged PÉPIN about this so I’m curious what he says.
Yeah the original Pepins were higher quality. I don’t know why they care about having a dumbbell that starts at 5 pounds. Most rarely go below 20
@@Soccasteve I think they were just trying to start at 10lbs to compete with the other adjustable dumbbells.
Would this work on a Rep PR 1100 which only has front and back holes?
@@quinterogains5880 I can’t be 100% sure but based on the specs, it’s a 2x2 with 1” holes and that is a selection. As long as you can unbolt the top to slide it over the upright it should work. I’d reach out directly to BP and ask but based on what I’m seeing, it should work with the front hooks like I have.
Thank you!
I think theyre cool, but I still have no reason to upgrade from powerblocks. Magnetic adder weights have helped get over that 90lb limit on powerblocks.
PowerBlocks are great and no reason to spend more money if you have something you’re happy with.
These are not Dumbbells! These are SmartBells!
@@quantumfx2677 😂 I see what you did there!
Stupid they never had the stand ready from the get go. Huge oversight. Especially since they recommend keeping them flat. I use a titan fitness stand and it works great so far. It is tilted slightly, not much which probably why it works. Will be purchasing the black widow stand.
@@chelious1973 completely agree!! Very surprised they didn’t have the stand ready when they dropped these.
Can you please tell me the distance between the 2 handles ? Thank you
@@gariejoyce5263 roughly 15 in a half inches, otherwise at the top center to center is 18”
@ thank you !
They look nice and are such a space saver, but im not a fan of that rattle. I suppose its a tradeoff of speed of transition versus the Iron Masters
@@Chris_from_Detroit yeah the rattle is just based on the design. The plates have enough tolerance to move so that bar slides in nicely and the plates can slide in.
I don’t have big hands and often push the pin out. I’ve tried repositioning my hand a bit and that seems to help a bit, but still catch myself popping the pin out. Have not had a plate drop on me yet. Last night, while benching 105, my knuckle was making contact to the side of the pin and left quite an indent on the side of my finger. I don’t regret the purchase, but there are some minor issues. The other is that it scratches quite easily. I’m speaking of only negatives here only because there’s so much hype on them. I do not regret the purchase. Still love them, but my Nuobells are staying put.
@@johnbaker2648 making me feel like I’ve got tiny hands now 😂 cause I never had that problem. The biggest problem I’ve had is with the incremental weight plates and that little ring on them. No, they are good dumbbells but not perfect. So far the perfect dumbbell hasn’t been created due to so many different aspects and a lot is personal preference.
@@GoreckiFitprobably the way I grip the handle, I tend to extend my wrist the way spidey spins a web 😂 while gripping the handle. Just attempt to envision that. I may well be an anomaly. I know I didn’t have the problem with my Powerblocks U125’s. The adder weight rings do touch my hands but not too bothersome for me.
@@johnbaker2648 I’m trying to picture that right now 😂 I can definitely see how your knuckles would touch the pop pin when doing 105s with that grip. We all have our own style, I have the VTS and I’ll do the suicide grip with the straight handles cause it feels better and I get better mind muscle connection.
Good stuff!! Overall, I’d give mine 4.5/5 for the rattle and the pop pins getting pretty close to knuckles when it’s on 50-70 lbs settings. But overall, they’re great, they look great, the simple yet long lasting design and they go up higher than most quick change adjustables, and the cool story with Rep and David Pepin.
@@jared.freedom.gym2021 thanks Jared!! Yeah I’m happy that Rep and PÉPIN did this collaboration.
A great video and I really like the quality of both the video and sound, making it nice to watch/listen to.
@@TRRT8516 thank you!! Glad you enjoyed it!
Good review. Comprehensive and thorough. I ordered my set in November. I’m impatiently waiting for mine 😂 How long did it take to receive your set?
Thank you. I took the first preorder, so mine was April 2024 and I received them in October after some delays. Now it should be much faster though since they have them in production so you should get yours much faster.
I am getting worried, seing more people talking about the magnetic poppin being able to so easily being unlocked while doing lifts.. I have the Quickdraws and they are so good, but obviously limited in max weight, so I did plan on getting the Reppins, but I'm definitely in doubt. It seems like they really should fix that issue, simply make the magnetic locking mechanism have a rotational locking/securing as well, so you press it in, rotate it just a little (so there should be a metal piece that locks it and stop it from popping out, until you rotate it back... something like that.
@@Somtric well to be fair, you’d either need large hands to hit it or you’d have to be holding it by the rails but yes, it’s definitely a safety concern that should be addressed.
Nice job on the video Tim! Your review was thorough and fair. While these are probably the best adjustables on the market, they aren't perfect. I think you highlighted those points well. Btw, I had the same issue with my HVAC system 😂 First world basement gym problems!
@@TheCarterHomeGym thanks Carter. Yeah it’s so nice to be able to keep my HVAC on now. Summers it was always so hot upstairs cause I’d turn the AC off and winter it would get chilly upstairs cause I’d have the heat way down. My family is also much happier 😂
What gloves do you have on?
@@XMegaJuni wasn’t wearing gloves, just wrist wraps. I think their Nordic lifting
@@GoreckiFit I am thinking about purchasing them. Wasnt aware about needing that flat surface, I'm used to throwing my dumbbells on my couch that's nearby. Which out of the two stands from rep do you recommend getting?
@ well you could throw them on the couch but you wouldn’t be able to switch weights. That’s why you need the flat surface. If I was buying the Rep Fitness one, I’d consider the stand since it looks like it will be more compact and easier to grab the weights since you can walk into it.
I keep going back-and-forth whether I want to get these or not
@carps_gym if you do a lot of dumbbell work they are nice to have.
I'm in the same boat 🤔
@@Chris_from_Detroit you just want the Troy’s so they match the rest of yours 😂
Very insightful as always bro!! I can see why these are the top dogs in the adjustable dumbbells space!
@@LukesGarageGym definitely a top contender now!!
HARD AS HELL TO SEE THE PEPINS IN YOUR VID, YOU HAVE A BLACK BACKGROUND WITH LOW LIGHT AND THE PEPINS ARE BLACK. WTF?????? ARE YOU TRYING TO HIDE THE PEPINS??? MAKES ZERO SENSE!!!
How much did you watch of the video? The Pépins were mostly in my video to show the rattling for the talking portion. All of the other shots had video that was lit up to showcase what I was talking about. That’s what’s difficult when doing a video, not to mention I had 3 bright ass lights while I was talking.
I love my peppins! Super comfortable and easy to use. These things are built to last for sure. Two annoyances, if not properly aligned, when setting the dumbbell back, the rest of the plates get jammed and it’s a pain to correct; wish there was a simpler way to tighten and to keep the set screws for the adjustments more permanent.
@@macalderon81 yeah that does sound like a pain. One thing I forgot to mention In the review, is that little ring on the incremental weight does not want to stay flat and can dig into your hand while using. Very minor but I don’t use them often so not a problem.
Great product but way overpriced for what they are
@@SaysSim0n yeah they are definitely one of the more expensive adjustable dumbbells on the market.
Overpriced? Do you know how much a rack 10-125lbs cost?
@@chelious1973true, but you cant compare that to the amount of material being used with individual Dumbbells
@@chelious1973 That's not the comparison to make, because it's overpriced relative to other adjustables. The point isn't fixed dumbbells vs adjustable dumbbells, the point is those being overpriced for what they are: adjustable dumbbells. Do you know how much other adjustables cost?
@@Abcd-yw5yf Yes i do as i had owned just about all of them. I owned the ironmasters, powerblocks, nuobells, etc. There is literally not a comparible adjustable dumbell that are all steel and are quick adjustable. That is what you dont understand. @@cagefrost4283 yeah it was a disappointment when none of mine worked.
I'm glad you had a better experience with this unit from Bullet Proof. I am discarding mine since I cannot return it. None of my bars fit and I've tried everything. A lot of the smaller parts came bent due to shipping damage, the box was in terrible condition as well. Although the customer service was great, this will likely be the first and last purchase I make from them. One of the trolleys seem to be irreparably damaged as it's angle of tilt is off no matter how much I adjust it. The whole ordeal was a massive headache for the cost and lack of usability for me. It's not a complaint, just facts about what transpired. I understand the risks involved with being an early adopter of boutique gym equipment for start-ups.
Aww man I’m sorry to hear that. Did you see if anyone could help you when it comes to the unit? I know Nicole, Larry’s sister should be able to help. I’d imagine they could file a claim with UPS due to the damage from the transit. I really hope you can get it figured out cause over a grand to lose is some BS.
Hey did you end up selling this to recoup on any of the cost?
@@sparxhova No, I haven't even tried to resell it because shipping it alone would be a pain due to the weight and size of the equipment. I say that as my local market for used gym equipment hasn't been moving a lot as of late.
@@GoreckiFit I have nothing bad to say about her and the service she provided. My chief complaint is just on how the box arrived in a very poor condition which was reflected in its contents (which were consequently affected by its handling). @maj0rdave oh man I’m sorry to hear that. I get the frustration where something fun turns into a headache but I really wish they could send a replacement unit for you.
