Repairing a RedTail - Hemlock Mountain Outdoors
This RedTail came back for a little TLC. The customer purchased it for his nephew (I kept saying son in the video) who had a friend dive-bomb it lol Let's get this fixed and back out in the wild.

Great job Kurt looks awesome!!!
I've used both setup's. The only difference is that I keep the straps attached and use a carabiner to attach the strap to the tree. This way I can keep the straps attached and just need to put the strap around the tree and clip the carabiner to the strap. Makes setup quick and easy.
There's probably more ways to set them up than I could ever figure out. That;s the great thing about hammocks and the outdoors... whatever way works is the right way.
Nice! Accommodating the katadyn is neat. I think my preference would be to have the strap going perpendicular to how you have it now, sewn in at multiple points to create several points to affix. User can use cord to tie it on
If you're looking for something like that, I can customize one for you. If interested email me at support@hemlockmountainoutdoors.com
whats the difference between the coyote and the redtail, other than the stuffsack?
The Coyote - 11 or 12 foot length options - ~70 inches wide - Hexon 1.6 Wide nylon - MultiMode Bug Net - Continuous loops only, Cinch Buckles or Whoopie Sling Suspension options - Rounded cut to the bug net - 4 pocket ridgeline organizer - Peak Pouch for bug net when zipped back The RedTail - 10 or 11 foot options - ~58 inches wide - 70D nylon, DymondLite 1.8 nylon or Hexon 1.6 nylon (depending on color and stock) - MultiMode Bug Net - Cinch Buckle Suspension - 2 pocket ridgeline organizer - shock cord loop in peak for storing bug net
@@HemlockMountainOutdoors TY. I think I will order the westrim just as a cheap way of testing traditional hammocks to see if they will work for me or not, and I might upgrade to a coyote down the line. I was leaning towards the flatlay types but idk if I really need that or not
You're welcome. That's a great way to get started. Since you're just getting started keep in mind that a longer hammock gives you a flatter lay. Generally, for sleeping comfort, you would want to ensure that you have at least 2 feet additional to your head and foot ends vs your height.
@@HemlockMountainOutdoors good to know. I got the 11 ft westrim. just in time for the mosquitos to get me lol. once I figure out my preference for laying I may upgrade to an asym coyote. planning a trip for the last week of may so I hope the lead time is closer to 4 weeks instead of 6....
Cool concept!
Thank you sir.
Looks good Kurt!
Thanks Dan!
Very cool man, I like the dragon snare!
Can you guess where it got it's name?
NICE!!! I like backpack camping and sleep in a hammock, so this is a great addition to the kit!
Thanks! They are extremely portable too, you can carry it in your pocket if you wanted.
Hey, some neat ideas. I carry one of your straps as a backup.
Awesome! They're definitely handy to have.
Good idea with the pack hanger being an emergency strap. I bring a long one of the Spiderweb straps from Dutch. Always in my pack in case I have a failure with a strap.
It's one of those things you don't think of until it happens
Ya and built with pride
Awesome brother
But is custom werk, ata custom cost,or does it require my first born child ta git mea smaller then normal underquilt ta use ona hammock gear sling i use asa chair....?everywhere i try wants more then my full size underquilt cost me ta make a smaller one.....im headed ta yer websight now.
Send me a custom request with exactly what you're looking for. (Link below) I don't add excessive fees on to custom work. I base it off of material, complexity and time. If the request is simple... So is the price. hemlockmountainoutdoors.com/pages/custom-work
Nice
Thank you sir
It's a great hammock. I bought one and my wife loved it so much I had to order a second one for myself!
That's awesome
Gives a good idea of what you can do besides hammocks. Spazz is going to be famous now.
Just what Spazz wants... more attention lol
did you make it to Hangcon? i really want to go next year. do you know of something like that closer to PA.OH, WV, KY?
I didn't make it to HangCon unfortunately. In PA we have the MAHHA and MidHHA events.
@@HemlockMountainOutdoors i'll have to get some dates. see if i can make it to one of them.
All good stuff Mr. Z! Alwmoving forward! Keep it hanging Brother!
Thank you brother!
Awesome video Kurt! the new Coyote looks outstanding!
Thanks Ryan! How's yours treating you?
Is that mine,looks good
Yes it is
Could you make it with a compartment for your air pad. It definitely helps in the cooler months. And maybe a zippered cover for the inside to help hold in heat. Make a winter version Still getting one regardless.
@KUSHINTHEBUSH I do make a double layer for those who prefer air pads, and I could do a switchable bug net/winter cover but it would limit the functionality of the bug net (ie: no MultiMode) and just the zipper alone is ~$40-$70 upcharge.... They aren't cheap and 2 are needed. If you want to check out the Double Layer it's here hemlockmountainoutdoors.com/products/coyote-double
Looks great I like the addition of the pouch for storing the net out of the way.
Thank you! The shock cord works well, but this can also double as another small storage space if needed.
Great video and voice over presentation.
Thank you... the voice over was a direct result of the insane wind while recording.
Great improvement on your website
Thank you!
I need to get one for my daughter she loves hammocks
I mean... really, who doesn't love hammocks?
Love it! Always improving already amazing products, love to see it!
Thank you sir.
I got a Red Tail for Christmas, looking forward to using it.
Merry belated Christmas!
Nice sir
Thank you!
I guess I am doing a Hemlock Mountain Outdoors marathon.
Nothing wrong with that lol
Great video on the evolution of the Coyote.
It's been through some changes
Im just hanging around lol Very kool sir
Hanging around is the whole point of hammocks lol
What about mine..
Your order is complete and shipping out... I sent you the tracking number.
I always like earth tones
A lot of people do... I've got some ideas.
what about snow camo. i think that would be cool
I really like snow camo, that might be a limited run at some point.
What hexon material? 1.6? I am going to look into the Cloud 71 closer to spring
Yes this is Hexon 1.6
I love my Redtail for my winter and late fall trips. Best hammock on the market and at an awesome price point. Looking forward to the 0.71 cloud version to swap into my three seasons kit! You do quality work!
Shoot me a message when your ready for the Cloud 71 version
@@HemlockMountainOutdoors Right on 👍
That is pretty awesome
Thank you sir!
Looks good. I like how you added adjustment at the end. Most like the one I have only have the side adjustment.
Thank you... just made sense to me to make it as adjustable as possible.
Not yet but before the new year I will. Gotta sneak on more in this year
Did you sneak in another? We got out for New Years Eve.
I gotta say. I love my red tail in the diamond grid fabric. It's a wonderful hammock. I generally use an ultralight hammock but for winter trips I thought I'd try this and I approve. It's a full featured hammock at an amazing price. Great value.
Ultralight you say? I made a RedTail, with all the features of the standard, MultiMode Bug Net, 11 Feet, continuous loops only - out of Cloud 71 that weighs in at just 12.3oz... and that's not using the lighter bug mesh... just saying.
@@HemlockMountainOutdoors Where can I find this magical hammock!?
I got a little video of it on my last trip out to the Black Forest Trail th-cam.com/video/gSvUfVCMOos/w-d-xo.htmlsi=mVdtfjrapRbffRjp&t=2020 If you're interested in more info shoot me an email
That’s really cool Kurt. Merry Christmas my friend
