A channel dedicated to modifying cars, currently building a bodyswapped Porsche Boxster into a Metro 6R4 replica... but after that who knows?....
Problem solving on the chassis swapped Porsche boxster metro 6R4
In this episode we try and sort out wipers, make the body kit kit better, and sort out the fuel cap on the body swapped Porsche 986 2.7, to look like a group b metro 6r4 project

Welcome to my new project were i attempt to build a metro 6r4 replica. Part one is an introduction to the project
Ciao, il tuo e un progetto straordinario, ma non e stato ancora finito?
That wiper motor was a nice surprise, haha, how lucky!
Great progress.. love to see bodywork in detail please
I love this Build. I'm glad I looked back through your videos, coz somehow I missed this one. I had been wondering when the original mating happened...well here it is 😂
yes yes yes
I just love watching how you just cut & weld as you go, really interesting to watch. I've been watching since the beginning, but, when the Build is finished, please can you make a video of the prosess, around 45-70 mins long, with you showing clips of the build process...the original two Cars before they were amalgamated, talking about which bits you enjoyed or hated & of course the Beautiful finished article. I think it would be a great video for those less dedicated to the Build. Especially as I'd love to share what you're doing here to others but in a one video hit. Please make this happen. Love this, I so can't wait to see it finished. I think you've made a crackin' choice, combining those to Cars to produce the "Peden 6R4 Boxtro"
an essay for two likes?
im interested as to why you chose a Boxster as your foundation given its not 4wd etc? enjoyable videos !
What 4wd 6 cylinder rear engined donor would you have used though? I think the Boxster ticks 90% of the boxes as it more or less the correct wheelbase (1/2”), the engine has the kinda right sound, it’s mid engined, and it’s also one of the best handing cars you could buy at a resonable price, comparible power/weight of a clubman 6r4. I don’t think 4wd is any benefit unless you’re actually intending to rally it, and on gravel at that…. As a road car this is probably a better setup.
@@pedenconceptzThanks for reply and your reasoning. Makes a lot of sense when explained. Thanks and keep up the great work 👍
It's good to hear some sensible comments about the IVA instead of pretending it doesn't exist like a lot of other UK based automotive youtubers, including some quite high profile ones. I see a Q plate as a badge of honour these days, so combined with them being commonplace, as you say, on rally cars back in the day, you should put it through the test IMO.
back in the 80's my dad had a rover with a q plate and he was constantly pulled over by old bill
Your a brave man. Does the metro shell still need to come back off? This is going to be a very nice 6R4. Very nice. Really enjoying your videos. There isn’t a single thing I would have done differently.
It need to fit the roll cage, then the shell needs lifted up to weld round the top of the cage. After that I can weld it all together but most parts trimmed and ready to weld with the exception of the door apertures.
Could use a black vinyl sticker instead of trying to mask it and spray it?
If you have enough parts from a single donor car you can get an age related rather than "Q" plate.
I see where you are going with this, but I think the fact there are technically 2 donors Makes it not applicable for the ‘built up vehicles’ section, although it could be an avenue to look down
I think this maybe correct in the uk 🤞
First person I’ve ever seen actually making the body kit fit and look good. It’s exactly what I would do given the opportunity. Will look so nice with decent fitting panels.
Thanks
I love your attention to detail. Going to be a nice straight metro this.
Amazing, well done you!
Your clearly a clever lad. Your doing a great job.
Great project this. No offence to him but hopefully the fit and finish will be a bit better than Matt Green. Hopefully you actually complete this one as well.
I just wanted to say I thoroughly enjoy watching you tackle all of the interesting problems on this project, especially to such a high standard, so thank you. I wonder if later on there is something interesting you could do with the exhaust/manifolds maybe unequal length or something to give it that uneven fire sound of the original 6r4?
how lucky were you with the wiper motor, i bet you were well chuffed with that, amazing work pal
like your thinking tru your modifing work.. the ressesed tank filler loock nize.. good work..!!! waitning 4 your next video
absolutely brilliant the way your running through all the little problems and figuring out ways to sort them out but still keeping it looking the way you want is fantastic 👍 petrol cap looks sound where you put it mate
Well done! I look forward to seeing the next instalment.
Absolutely fantastic video..inspirational, attention to detail...love it!!!
I’m only a few videos into this build but I’ve binge watched them. Brave man taking this on.
If your Escort is anything to go by your 6R4 will be beautiful. Looks so clean and well built.
Porsche designed their wiper motor to fit a metro mechanism purely for bodyswaps in the future!
Great to see you working with basic tools anyone with a bit of fabrication knowledge could manage, cannot wait for the next one.
Will you not be able to keep the Porsche plate? You must be close on points as you have basically reshelled the Boxter using the running gear.
I thought that. But then that would date the car a lot more modern. I think the Q plate (in this case and for all the reasons) might be spot on.
@twcmaker I know it would be another expense but if it had the Porsche number you could then change that to say a cheap NI personal number, lots of NI rally cars, probably just an age thing but personally I'd do anything to avoid a Q plate 😂
I think you're probably right Alan 👍
Your channel really reminds me of A Car Is Born from way back when on Discovery channel
That was a good wee show, I remember it, in fact we were talking about it the other day.
Sir you are a genius
Thanks, not really but I do get to spend a lot of time think about how to do these jobs
Just stumbled on your channel, and got caught up with the episodes. Great build this one. Your doing a good job. Subbed
Thanks for watching them all! 👍
Smashing job, keep it up
Thanks
Awesome video thanks for sharing 👍
And thank you for watching also
Mettero
Duno about that one lol
Brilliant work mate, great build
Thanks
Lovely job, great idea with the filler cap, the only thing that annoyed me it wasn't looking quiet straight down (might be camera, might not be fully fitted yet so I'll excuse you) Boot lid even sounds quality fitted 👍👍👍
It’s not screwed in, but the bolts don’t line up with the flap on the cap anyway, it wasn’t an expensive piece
@pedenconceptz I thought it might be something like that. You are doing some good work 👍 I'm enjoying watching. I hope it passes musta with the DVLA inspections. 😁
You’re making great progress on your build. Can’t wait for the next instalment
Thanks
Some good progress with ingenuity! Keep at it, see you in the next episode👍🏻
Thank you
I think it should be called a Moxter
Maybe, I have a few other ifeas
I love this car. I can’t wait for each video
Thanks
Couldn’t you transplant the boxster oval fuel door and behind housing? Less noticeable and a nice nod to what’s underneath
The flap is curved, so it wouldn’t fit, plus there’s not enough depth for it, I kinda like it how it is
@@pedenconceptz cheers,
Give up the day job John and focus on this 💯 please. Thanks
The grocery’s have to be paid for somehow
Don’t bother with the bonnet catch. It’s a resto mod not a faithful recreation. And defo get an IVA test! And try and get it on the Porsche plates I’d say.
It needs the bonnet catch for an IVA test, and if I IVA test it I can’t keep the boxster reg, that was what I was trying to explain in that segment. It couldnt keep either reg after IVA. It would be a new car and Q plate
@ ok, was thinking if you have the Boxster chassis and ecu/ dashboard/ cockpit you might be able to
@ sorry yes to centre catch like normal. No to the racing flush catches either side.
Great build , I'm really looking forward to the next episode
Thanks
Love this build well done sir your skills are impressive 👏 can't wait fir the next one
Thank you
I think the location of the filler cap is perfect - its a nod to the Porsche and in the right place where you havent made work for yourself. The recess is a touch of class. One of the best builds on YT, up there with Binky imo
Thank you, that’s quite the compliment, their channel is highly regarded
Totally fab, love it, can’t wait for the next video…
Thanks
One of my top projects this.. filler caps.. personal i prefer them at the rear .. but i understand needs must for it to work for you. .. maybe a flap on the front wing to camouflage it ... Great project.. love the progress
You can buy flush mount caps now, that pop out when you push them, I sort of like the way it’s kinda the same but not the same as a 6r4. I think. Nobody who knows anything about the real cars will think this is real anyway as you won’t be able to see the engine. It will have a full interior
Brilliant as usual, keep it up 👍🏼
Thanks
I really enjoy watching your videos.Really good workmanship and problem solving.
Thanks
