Hello there, and welcome to Weird Music on the glumburger channel. This little channel has grown from simple gaming videos into a more streamlined music reviewing platform, mostly looking at the unusual albums of the world. We look at a lot of drone and ambience, some psyche and noise rock; and generally stuff that’s weird and unusual!
Why is it called weird music though? Well, let's just say that you bring the music, and I bring the weird ;)
glumburger also makes weird music, as a guitarist for Burden Limbs, and as a soloist under the moniker Low Resident. There’s also various experimental guides on bandcamp for some more weirder music!
Thanks and all the best!

Weird Music: These Mortal Hands / Laugh and the World Laughs With You - Low Resident
Band: Low Resident
Album: These Mortal Hands / Laugh and the World Laughs With You
Label: Self-released
Year: 2024
A special 2 years of Weird Music episode, that's many months late of course. This is a bit of a harrowing and sad episode, as it is me turning the eye upon myself and examining my own music. This material has been floating around since 2017 or so, and after 5 years since a very tumultuous time, it is time to clear off the dust from these recordings, and properly lay them to rest. These Mortal Hands / Laugh and the World Laughs With You are two very existential tracks written years apart from each other, and yet tie into each other in weird coincidental ways. One born from a self-examination of my burgeoning mental health, the other the culmination of such after reaching a boiling point. Hopefully it is of interest to some of you out there...

Band: Swans Album: White Light From The Mouth Of Infinity Label: Young God Records Year: 1991 It is the year 1991. Somewhere in the quaint little town of Dublin, a glumburger was born. More importantly, Swans releeased their... 7th? studio album, White Light from the Mouth of Infinity. A heavy dirge of post-punk and gothic rock. This is genuinely one of my favourite albums by Swans, and one of ...

Band: Sandra Boss Album: Luft Label: Falt Year: 2018 A return to Falt. This one was a bit odd. Luft, by Sandra Boss. I remember writing this one on my phone, listening to the album through the bandcamp app. As I was writing about the album's second half, which is of itself a very strange dreamy track to be hearing... Our train ended up being delayed inbetween stations, in the middle of the unde...

Band: Greg Haines Album: Komarovo Label: Slaapwel Records Year: 2009 A return to the randomizer. It's time for another one of your suggestions, this time from user BlackMetalMarxist, who has suggested a longform live performance from one Greg Haines. A half hour composition of shuffling lowercase electronics, weighty church organs and beautifully melancholy piano notes. This album gave me a bit...

Band: Terry Oldfield Album: Reverence Label: New World Company Year: 1986 I don't know what this one is... I guess this is one for a sucker for the artwork. Some strange Ecco the Dolphin vibes. But what we have here is new age music by one Terry Oldfield. One of the many famous Oldfields. Seems what this one gets up to is playing the flute and making new age music. For the most part, it's all i...

Band: Bardo Pond Album: Lapsed Label: Matador Year: 1997 Lapsed is pretty apt. So, I remember when Godspeed You! Black Emperor did a tour around the UK back in 2016-17 i want to say, they had the one and only Bardo Pond supporting them. At the time, being a huge fan of GY!BE, I figured any band they like is definitely worth checking out. And then I never took the time to listen to them, until I...

I actually enjoy Yann Novak's works. i first came across him through a digi album titled we love our parents we fear snakes. his albums are a really nice blend of minimal and drone ambient
Great episode
I hope you do a video like this for music you will make in future, realy intresting
Love you, Gareth! Glad you're still here.
Done with the Kerry Way!!!!
It has a Francisco de Goya cover! See? He gets me :D
Dude i heard a WEIRD ASS FUCK album yesterday. Is: Drown Retarded Children - Demented Continuum Is a Avant-garde Slam Metal record, and, when i say is WEIRD, i'm saying that being fan of Mr. Bungle. Mr. Bungle sound like Radiohead compared to this record I am dead fucking serious.
Every time I debate whether a new album I'm listening to is a 10/10 or not I always compare it to this and say "Is it as good at White Light?" I was asking myself that a lot when I was first hearing Lateralus by Tool and luckily for that album the answer was yes. Nothing spells out "Perfect Album" as well as this. Even though The Seer is the only Swans album I hold above it, White Light is one of the most consistently perfect albums I've ever heard. No skips, no duds, not a single second is anything less than phenomenal. The only reason I hold The Seer higher is because it's such a mentally exhausting experience that I'm just completely defeated by it every time, even with a few filler tracks. Also nice hat btw.
This is the album that got me into SWANS.
There’s someone with the last name Hahn and the first name Hahn lol. (Also I hiked 30km today so I am super exhausted)

I’m so glad you finally got to this one! I feel like White Light is an album that receives praise from music nerds, just not as much as Soundtracks or the trilogy album because it isn’t seen as “experimental” as the others. I agree that it is one of SWANS most accessible albums, but it has a unique and intense melancholic presence scattered throughout the album. It is really hard to sound epic without sounding cheesy and the band made it work here by complimenting what is Gira’s most honest and introspective songwriting!
Haunting vocals from Michael Gira in the first 10-20 seconds of Better Than You. Can't quite make out the lyrics though.
This album changed my life
BUT IT WON'T. SAVE. ME.
im so excited i love the swans videos you made so far
Oh nice, a new niche channel for me to dive into!
Thanks so much for taking the time to review this one. I'm so pleased you got so much from this album. And thanks for featuring some Steep Gloss releases too - you rule! (Ross)
Very interesting sounds on this one, might download this before I embark on the Kerry Way tomorrow
funny experience how you kept talking about what happens while the feeling hits... thank you for reminding me why i love ambient music so much for me abul mogard always gave me this feeling maybe you want to hear him too
The vibes of this album, they are... immaculate.
Definitely fascinating! Enjoyed the show! A great introduction to this composer! ❤ thanks
What are some of your favorite pieces of music, regardless of form, mr glumburger?
Too many to mention! We scratch the surface of it in the 1k subscriber special favourite albums video.
Just discover your channel, pretty interesting content thats for sure. Wondering if you would give it a look to the complete Drugged suite by Bass Communion :)?
Weird music, you say? This must be my long lost brother! :O Fugg you, dad - why do you have to lie about everything?? I'ma spank ur s0rry butt! Great video, by the way! I love discovering new stuff! :DD The world is our musical Library Of Alexandria! And the way you present it keeps the viewer attentive! :D Lots of neat lil factors! Wait, did I just review a reviewer
Komarovo is the russified name of a Finnish Karelian village Kellojärvi (Lit. Bell lake). Kellojärvi was ceded to the USSR after the Winter War in 1939. The village became well known in the 80's in the USSR with singer and actor Igor Skylar's song "Komarovo". Today Komarovo is a part of greater St. Petersburg.
Recently Igor Skylar's song was turned into a propaganda piece by the Kremlin with it being remixed into a phonk version for the game "Atomic Heart". The original was also removed off of Spotify and replaced with the phonk propaganda verison.
Wow, this sounds eeeerily similar to tim hecker's dropped piano sketches (especially sketch 1 and 2), which only came out two years later
Every episode I expect someone to come crashing through that door that's behind you...👀😜😜😜
Happy Birthday!
Honey, wake up, Glumburger's got a new ambient drone album review. Happy early birthday, btw.
Hey glumburger! I'm so glad I rediscovered your channel. Some time ago, I remembered I had watched a video of someone doing a review of Sleep's Dopesmoker, an album I'm absolutely fascinated by, and I could just not find the video! Thankfully, some minutes ago, I managed to realize it was you who made that video, and I'm so glad I did that, cuz you, my friend, have an absolutely glorious taste in music! Now, it's not usual for me to comment on videos by anyone tbh, but I thought this album could interest you: Minorisa by Fusioon. Simply put, this album is fascinating, as it was made during the last days of Francisco Franco's dictatorship in Spain, yet the album contains some of the best Prog Rock/Electronic I have ever heard! The themes of the album are fascinating too, as they talk about the Roman legacy of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands, all sung in Catalan, which I find fascinating due to the lingüistic repression of the aformentioned Francoist dictatorship. The album consists of 3 long tracks, all of em filled with glorious avant-garde and psychedelic goodness. I think you would enjoy this album a logt, but other than that, thank you for making videos, all of the music you post fascinates me, and you are seriously one of the coolest underground YTers I have ever seen! <3
Incredibly appreciated, thank you. I’ll say that all suggestions get added to a randomiser, with the hope of doing one a month. I’ll of course add it to the list! We’ll see if it comes up. It sounds incredibly fascinating, I’ll certainly have my work cut out for it 😅
Ah, New Age: the smooth jazz of ambient!
bro I already know what this album is why did I turn up the volume
They’re my favorite band of all time.
They re one of mines too, it s sad that they ll probably never come back.
NEEDED THIS ❤

I love Kali Yuga Blues by this band
Ever hear Bardo Pond's cover of Brian Eno's "Here Come the Warm Jets?" It's 15 minutes of pure ecstasy!
its a good one. my personal favorite th-cam.com/video/5pgRM54KJBM/w-d-xo.html but i am from tx so maybe im a little biased haha
HOW HAVE I NEVER HEARD OF THIS
One of the greatest records ever made
This one is huge for me. HUGE. and yet the Hash Jar Tempo records might be better!
it has to be the most oppressive album i have ever heard
Now I have found my people. My channel. I need weird music lovers in my life.
Lovely video, so articulate
One of my favorites. Not sure what happens a little after the 7 minute mark, but it shifts in some way, and sounds fantastic. Got to see an entire performance of "10 years alive on an infinite plane", which I'm pretty happy about. Doubt I'll see anything like that ever again. Couldn't believe how loud a violin could sound. There are some photos over on Table of the Elements site that are from the recording session with Albini, Conrad, and Jim O'Rourke. One has them at the mixing desk. Interesting to hear your thoughts.
Not weird music. Amazing music 👌
