You don’t like flowers? -Felicia
@@farmerbaileyplugs I don't like your support of the Israeli occupation, absolutely despicable. Bye Felicia.
Gross, israel.
I’ve had people buy off my dads veg and plant stall at home and resell for much more because dad had them under priced
I grew Campanula and Orlaya for the first time this year with plugs purchased from Farmer Bailey. It was part of our first ever inaugural crop in our brand new unheated tunnels. First of all I am zone 7 in the Western NC mountains of NC. I will never grow orlaya in the field again - it was my most amazing crop ever. Campanula was another winner. These two crops helped fill out our mixed bouquets during the so called "Spike season" where it's hard to find filler so you don't have to add 20 snap stems to make a bouquet.
Zone rant needed more often than you'd think.
LOL! ~felicia
Very helpful and informative! Thank you for recording it so everyone that couldn't make the live session can still enjoy the benefit of you and your team's knowledge!
Thank you so much for watching! It's our pleasure to share information with our community! ~felicia
Love the curtains! Source?

Check in on July 1 when we list fall shipped plugs!
@@farmerbaileyplugs Thank you!!!
This is my first yr flower farming. I love the markets! The only thing I find aggravating is the putting up and tearing down. Especially being by myself. I've definitely made mistakes this year. Grew to many fillers and flowers with a not so great vase life. It's disappointing I spent 1,000's dollars and don't like half of what I'm growing. That being said I'm definitely going to concentrate on focals next yr. Pricing is hard for me, I really need to nail it down. My biggest concern is the heat & humidity. I'm zone 9a and I'm not sure how great the bouquets are going to hold up at markets. The good news is there aren't many flower farmers in my area & the ones that are here are only growing for wholesale. Fingers crossed next yr will be better and I'll have more of the kinks worked out.
Hi Kimie Ann, thank you so much for watching the video and sharing your experience. Don't be too hard on yourself about mistakes, everyone's first year is typically filled with frustration and failures! It's how we learn. We commend you for trying and learning from all of it! I think regarding heat and humidity, you need to plan to keep most of the flowers cool during markets (in a vehicle, in a cooler under the table, etc) and refresh the display as you sell. ~Felicia

Can you put flowers in an ice chest with icey water? Standing stem up
Hi Dee, thanks for watching. Shanti mentioned in the webinar that most flowers do not like ice water. It is better to keep them cool with refrigeration and shading. ~Felicia
Love this!
Thank you so much! It was such an informative panel. ~Felicia
shanti is not kidding when she says there's a lot of politics going on at the markets...
Like sands through the hourglass, these are the days of our lives... (rings the bell). ~Felicia
This was a wonderful education/webinar. Thank you so much for expanding on the 1st webinar. I would love to see some of your booth setups over the years and how you changed things up to keep your booth fresh and exciting for your customers. I think your changes and pictures would be so very helpful. Thank you Bailey, Thomas and Felicia
Thanks so much for watching, Rebecca! Unfortunately, we don't have much in the way of photos of the display changing over the years. I think it's wise to visit your local farmers market, take note of the booths that look great and stand out, and consider what is working. ~Felicia
I’m blown away by your candor and generosity. I’m cleaning but I’m home alone and like to listen to things. This came up and I thought “oh I’m not there yet, not for me,” and then I thought I bet I will learn something. So glad I did listen. I’m only in baby stage trying to figure out what will grow here etc. I think people can miss it’s a social thing. A psychological thing. Being nice to people. Caring. Wanting to sincerely make their day a little brighter. I’m a people person. I get it. Thanks again
Thank you so much for watching, Leslie! So very happy this is helpful to you. Our expert panel is the definition of candor and generosity, so grateful to them! ~Felicia
Do farmer's markets allow multiple farms at one booth? I just had a thought during this video that farmers could do what moms do for carpool and switch off every other week and sell for both farms at the same booth 🤔
Hi Cyndie! It sounds possible, but would depend on the individual market and their rules! I think it's a great idea worth exploring. Thank you so much for tuning in and sharing your idea! ~Felicia
Thankyou for the info!
Thank you for watching! ~felicia
I love Lennie's book! I'm so glad I found it just as I'm beginning my flower business journey.
Agree so much! It's essential to prioritize profit as much as your flower quality. Thanks so much for tuning in. ~felicia
I got here to this video from the Farmer Bailey email. What a fantastic resource! Thank you for sharing. So neat to hear about the breeding efforts in Japan and all the different varieties. This is the first season I'm growing lisianthus, and I started some from seed (got good, consistent germination but they have stayed quite small) and bought some plugs (they are ready to transplant this weekend). I'm going to try planting some in my high tunnel and some in the field. I'll also try removing some of the first buds and see how that goes. Basically, I'm treating this as a learning season, trying different things, taking notes, and hoping that I'll have some Group 3 still flowering in time for my early fall backyard wedding.
Thanks so much for watching and reading our newsletter, Jules! It sounds like you are doing a great job experimenting - essential for all flower growers. Congrats on your upcoming wedding! ~Felicia
I love love this. I'm definitely adding cutting mum to my urban farm for weddings and Thanksgiving..
Thank you for watching, Linda! Mums are so quintessentially fall, and really extend your season. ~felicia
I started some scabiosa in seed trays and they are like a apricot variety but seem To be struggling in seed trays I think I’m ready to transplant outside and just see how they do. It’s just going to be survival of the fittest for these guys
Yes, once they have true leaves you should plant them out! They like a cool start. Good luck! ~felicia

I grow Lisanthus from seed every year VERY successfully. Lisianthus is a GREAT teacher! It will not tolerate haphazard care for very long. If you can grow Lisianthus, you can grow almost anything your climate will grow. MASTER lisanthus and you have GOT IT!
This was super helpful, thank you!!!
You're so welcome, Anna! Thanks for checking out Farmer Bailey. ~Felicia
Loved the video, so much information! This is my second year trying to grow them from seed. Presently getting plugs is not in the budget so growing information for me is key. Thank you.
You are very welcome, Patricia. Growing from seed is a great skill! ~Felicia
I have another question? I need your help in determining where to plant my lizzys on my new land. As you probably know this area often experiences summer heat over triple digits. My other cut flowers handled the heat fairly well last year with irrigation. But I didn’t attempt lisianthus last year. I do have a shaded area that is on my flood plane. Or if I choose a sunny location then I thought I could give them a low tunnel with a shade cloth.
Shade cloth is a great idea while they are establishing! You will want a sunny location as LIsianthus are native to the hot Plains states and love warmth after they get their cool establishment period. ~Felicia
Hi! I am happy to find your channel. This is my first year of flower farming. I bought land near my hometown of Blossom, northeast Texas and I’ve placed several orders from you! (I spent sometime last year growing cut flowers in my back yard. But I’m eager to learn from you! Which hardiness growing zone do you live in now?
Great video. I’ve ordered lisianthus and other plugs from you for three years now with this seasons showing up this March in North Carolina. It’s a great service. I still try to grow from seed but it almost always goes horribly.
Thanks so much for trusting us to supply your plugs. Good on you for growing from seed, it's not easy! We save our energy for doing the fun part. Would love to see photos of your blooms this summer! ~Felicia

Small market grower..always Voyage/Roseann brown. I don't get really tall stems out in my small field. But, they do fine for my bouquets in re-cycled glass containers or jars. Thx. for great info.!!
Thank you so much for watching! If you want longer stems, try increasing your watering/ fertilization schedule and adding Hortonova netting to your Lisi! ~felicia
Thank you for this. I learned so much.
Thanks so much for watching, Lisa!
What a wonderful, educational video! I always have take aways to try:) Thank you♡
Thank you so much, Madonna! We're so glad you are taking away some helpful tips. Good luck!
Love that you shared the origins of the plant! I learn a lot from start to finish information like that.
Thank you, Shelby! We're so glad to hear this is helpful for you! ~felicia
Am I to late to purchase plugs this year? I need some rosanne brown! Purple ones too!
Would it be to late to plant out June 1 zone 5b?
@@tanyakilbane7636 Hi Tanya - Lisianthus planting is timed by your last outdoor frost, not zone. It is likely to late for grown-to-order plugs for you. However, you can check out our Ready to Ship selections which are listed most Fridays. More info about that here: farmerbailey.com/pages/about-available-now-trays

Thanks for all that you share! I am a home gardener (for now) and appreciate your videos. I also very much enjoyed your Instagram lives. I am trying Lisianthus from seed for the first time and wow. Plugs are the way to go! Haha. 💚 Thanks again!

One more question of triple digits during our summers. Should I cover them with shade cloth?
Yes, you can shade them a bit. ~felicia
This is my first year! I order 3 types and need any help to understand how to care for them! Wondering if I need a low tunnel. I'm in zone 8 and delivery on May 6th
Hi there! The video above is a comprehensive class on how to grow Lisianthus - did you have specific questions that were not covered? You can grow Lisianthus in the field, with no tunnel at all. You can also consult Bailey's Lisianthus Growing Guide for more tips and strategies for success. farmerbailey.com/pages/lisianthus-growing-guide
