I had one of those works good for wall building just about the right size when you get though entire barrel full time to take a break anyway and check the lines. Those 8x8x16 cinder blocks get heavy after go for awhile.
Working with concrete is a PITA, it's a lot for one person to tackle. Thanks for sharing and please IGNORE the haters. You can be the best in the world and there will always be haters. Don't try to do better to appease them... learn from your experience, improve where you can, and if you're happy it will be a success.
Started watching ur concrete pad series as I have to do some concrete work myself. You, sir, have inspired confidence. Cool temp fix for your pick-up, too. I have made numerous farmer fixes like that myself in a pinch.
You are doing fine, and should be proud for being confident in yourself, that you can get it done right. Social media is full of morons, so keep your head up, and keep on truckin.
That looks like 💩
@@426superbee4 so does your Harley 🤷🏼♂️
@@jeffdeshong YOUR BLIND DUDE ! How can you see with NO EYES
Inspiring, nice ---
Looks good 👍
The dog gets the like. Looking at videos for the Harbor Freight version and wondering how it would work with a camper shell. Guess it will have to come off.
Good job!
Does the hand wand shut off the pump? how long can you leave it sit with heater/pump on? Couple minutes?
Only used it once so far. But I’m pretty sure the hand wand turns off the pump and heat. It will stay on as long as the water or propane last. Haven’t done a lot of testing yet
I purchased a HF mixer like that one used. I have not used it yet. Watching TH-cam channels to learn before pouring a 10x10 pad for a patio entrance, with a roof over it. My son was going to hire a concrete truck, but none in the area would deliver less than four yards, and they also wanted $250 delivery on top of that. He lives a ways out on a gravel road. We are going to try to mix it ourselves.
What size block did you use 6” or 8” wide?
16x8x4. 4 inches wide
What are the name of these?? I need these asap!!
@@malikyoung1830 Rieco titan any corner camper jacks. Got them on Amazon.
Looking good! Have you mentioned cost? I may have missed it. I'd love to know the cost of doing it like this verses getting say 2 half concrete trucks and doing every other flag over 2 pours
Take the time to level the mirrors. Looks much better 😀Gloves are also a great safety item...
Feel your struggle, Glad you got this part of you mission complete... Good job, stay Strong, Hopefully the next stage will be a little easier on you.👍🙏
Kicking ASS So damn expensive having a crew do it at least 15-20 k
$3000 x5 workers likely
appreciate you share your process, and your mistakes would have loved to see the full video from beginning to end
Great job. By the time you’re all done you will have worked out all the kinks. You could keep the mixer going while pouring your mix in the wheelbarrow, comes out easier.
Really good job. Love the dedication on your project. I'm looking to do the same, but smaller 16'x32'x5.5".
How come you didn’t use pre mixed quickcrete concrete? I’m thinking about doing a concrete pad but I was thinking about using several 80 pound bags of quickcrete. Would I still need a mixer and would it come out as nice?
Whether you need a mixer is about how big a slab you're doing. Using a chute would have helped the guy in the video get the concrete in there without the wheelbarrow. Premixed vs the raw ingredients is about cost. You can theoretically get it cheaper by mixing your own concrete. But, the least aggravating would be to order a concrete truck if there's a plant nearby. It can actually be cheaper than a bag mix depending on circumstances. I poured a pad and needed 23 80lb bags to get it done. Over 100 degrees outside. I used a wheelbarrow but I wish I had a mixer, though it would have been a one off job for me. I'm about to do over 700 square feet of concrete and with concrete delivered by truck it'll save an enormous amount of time. With a bag mix it'd be a huge number of bags
Looks great. Is it much cheaper to mix all the sand and gravel vs ready mix bags? Thanks.
Thanks. And yes
Bonding Stuff????? Then he applies something that looks like concrete. No explanation. But you get to see minute by minute application.
Is this satire?
maybe soak your boards in used motor oil :)
@@ronhanish did that
Nice looks good , I always hand pour my slabs as well in my area premix concrete is $2800 for 10 yards delivered which is horrible. But a few tips if you doing a garage you really should consider rebar #4 or #5 to tie all together so if it settles it will do so together and also have you priced out using 80lbs bags of sacrete? My last one I did was 12 x 16 it took 50 bags just dump straight into mixer and add water most home depots if you get over 40 bags give a nice discount I think my last delivery was $212 for the concrete and $75 for delivery. I think the tensile strength is like 3000 psi ?
@@alcapon-o3f hate working with bags and a lot more money.
Nice job ! I'm doing most my own work now because the cost is way to high to hire out now... I'm blown away at the cost of everything. Wish I was your age my man! Being 47 years old doing this stuff is getting rough. Hopefully in 10 years when your done improving your wife doesn't divorce your ass and take all your hard work and some worthless piece of shit moves in with her. This is why many dudes are not doing this stuff. A pad like that would run about $18,000. So $3k is a Hella of saving
Hey Jeff, I have a similar project that I’m about to do. Just curious, is there any need for a vapor barrier on the bottom before laying the brick?
Im planning to do a 13x40 patio slab next year and these videos are great motivation. I showed your video to my dad and he said he thinks that mixing the concrete yourself like you are doing would be about half the cost of ready mix. I always wondered about pouring a big slab in sections and it looks like it turning out really nice. Excited to get through the rest of the parts of this series and see how things turn out.
@@imacracker515 thanks for watching!
Your wicked dude, enjoyed the cricket love at the end. Peace
bring your rebar out to the edges, more strength
Instead of adding the rebar after you pour the pad, drill holes in the side of your form (2 x 6) and shove the rebar in those holes and it will be then just pull the form off straight. The rebar doesn't have to be angled but you could add a few more than just the three. Rebar is cheap so the more you use, the stronger the pad.
@@Steadfastly7 I did what you’re describing on several of the pads.
I’ve really enjoyed this series. Jeff proves that hard work pays off. Started off with the basics and has been applying additional learned experience with each one. Would like to know the total cost once complete.
Curious... Did you feel more fatigued lifting the water vs just using the hose? Lifting something you really didn't need to? Did you notice any difference in the pours consistency? Any changes in the workability of the concrete?
@@ABC-td4rg no more fatigue than normal. Didn’t notice any other major differences
Great video man.
Id be tempted to put in a toilet, sink, and shower drain before finishing. Stub it all out the side underground for a future date to trench it back over towards the house, given you have the elevation angle for it to run downhill towards house sewage
Great progress…looks good.
$3840 to pour the full pad in my area, $5/ft brush finish, 4 man crew
Thanks for sharing the details like 3-2-1 and ordered vs consumed materials. Project turned out great sir.
Are you keeping a running total of cost and time?
@@mminlamesa1032 yes, not exact but very close
@@jeffdeshong I've been watching from the first pour and your results(and I'm not a concrete guy) have been getting much better results. So at the end I hope you'll lay out the time and material cost.
I think I started following with pad 7 I believe so I’m a recent sub/watcher but this is inspiring watching one guy do this. I now have to wait and move before I can do this as the county I live in denied my building permit for a shop, but ultimately I’ll be building a 60x80 with 20x60 of one end being the “home” portion of it. I can afford the building to be built standalone but doing all cash I’ll end up doing the concrete work. I plan on doing 10x10s at time starting with the house portion first. I’ll probably invest in one of those Mudmixer machines for it as well. But like you, I have no help or at least none willing to without being paid lol so we do what we gotta. On the hose, why not just get ball style valve for the end? Then you can throttle it and have full flow and turn it off as well
@@maxwelljrdn happy to be an inspiration 👍🏻 sounds like you have a big project on your hands, good luck with it all! That ball style valve for the hose would work well, good suggestion. I make do with what I have usually, but might pick one of them up.
I may have missed the first, saw all the others, is there a benefit to mixing your own concrete vs the bags? Price, quality or something else? Looking to do my own as well and didn't get much info online as why to go this route l.
@@thisvsthat6930 a lot of it comes down to preference and how you can get materials to your location. I don’t really like working with a lot of bags, I prefer to use a shovel. The price for me is definitely cheaper than bags but that’s me making a 3000-4000 psi mix. If I were to make a 5000psi mix it would be pretty similar priced compared to bags. Probably the main reason, is I get to choose the rock going into the mix, which I think is extremely important.
Looking damn good! I can't wait to do my own. You give me confidence on doing it haha.
Great job. Did many similar pours in younger days.
Here is a one- man concrete crew busting his ash doing hard labor. Meanwhile a quarter of the US population is on welfare and won’t get off the couch.
