Today I do another pad for my concrete project. This is pad 11/12. I use a ratio of 3:2:1 , Gravel:sand:portland. Hit that subscribe button so you dont miss out on the Finished project!
in my younger days I had a similar mixer an got alot of concrete mixed with it , 2 issues 1 cheap motor (easy to replace with a usa made one ) 2nd mine had a bearing under the drum ,a must to keep it well greased and it will last forever . Great project very gratifying
You make it look so easy that I gave it a go. Mixed and poured my first ever pad yesterday with my wife and eldest daughter. 32 bags of cement and 4ish tonnes of aggregate - I'm so sore today I can barely move, but it turned out really good. Cheers from Australia!
Ha! Similar story here in Washington State, USA; thanks to Jeff, daughter and I spent an afternoon mixing concrete, also experienced the next day hard work soreness, a great time was had by all...
Edges look Fine, coming along Nicely. Talk a little about the building you're gonna build. Great JOB! looking forward to the last one on the PADs. keep it on the good Foot! 😛✌
Wow - I can't believe there is only one more to go. Good work - looking forward to One Man Pours Retaining Wall and not one of those concrete bag walls.
concrete work is an absolute pain in the dic, I just finished a very small porch a few weeks back and it took me lit all day, and came out horrible, im probs gonna have a 'feshnal re do it. Nice work!!!
I've been following your progress, this has inspired me to start my concrete project for my backyard. I've seen many videos and yours is the most explained. You actually show how much 3-2-1 concrete is used for a particular slab, this is extremely helpful. And the fact you proved it can be done with a single person using a small mixer. Thanks a lot.
Looking great Jeff! Only one more pad to go. I just subscribed and I’m looking forward to your wrap up video after you’re all done pouring. You’re going to have a nice shop floor!!
Can't wait to see pad 12! This series has got me thinking how I can save money on future projects, thank you. Hope your channel continues to grow. Could you possibly do a break down of total cost and man hours on the final video?
@@jeffdeshong I worked for a mom and pop style plumbing outfit for about a decade, about 15 years ago, they had one in all 4 of our work vans, we did alot of trench drain work in grocery stores, ours never had an easy day, but never remember them giving up the ghost. Meanwhile we would chew through Ridged 18v cordless kits like nothing, every 6 months we were replacing them.
I take it round rock is not easily found in your area? . Its common place for concrete to use round rock, within a serten distance of the columbia river, as it comes from the dredging of the river.
It can be considerably cheaper -- I did the math on a project in had in mind and the premix would be $2000 where buying the cement in bags and bulk sand/crush would be about $1200 for the same volume. That was for 1:1.5:3, Jeff mentioned he's using 1:2:3 so he's stretching the cement even further for the volume of concrete. Not to mention the number of premix sacks you need to dispose of. The aggregate can also sit outside in weather without too much issue, where you'd need to be careful to keep all those bags of premix dry.
Don't cut the sides that's way too much work. Just mix up some topping mix and fill in the little pock marks. If it's a little out of square, just align your building to the near side. No one will.see.the far side.
your getting the thumbs up.
well here is a comment about your hard work.
Bravo!

The rebar at the corners should be bent 90 degrees for extra strength.

Why didnt you use premixed bags? Wouldnt it be cheaper than buying sand gravel and cement.Keep up the good job.
