    👍👍 nice work. Used that same mixer 16 years ago with 125 80lb bags. Been left outside since- used it two weeks ago- worked the same as it did back then- not one issue. I see they haven’t improved the alignment of the drum gear and pinion!

    I do a lot of projects on my own as well. Working hard is the only way to work. Very impressive tackling such a large concrete job on your own. And mixing your own concrete takes it to another level.

    I remain impressed you mix your own concrete and good to see you taking the cold joint connections into consideration.

    Your experience has clearly upped your skill, efficiency, and final result quality. Your willingness to experiment with different techniques and processes based on intuitive retrospection of past results; I opine is key to your continued progress and mastering of your craft. As I watch your progress in each video, I can’t help but consider alternative methods or suggestions that I may offer, but short of mixer backing up with 8 yards from the nearest batch plant, I don’t have anything. 😂 More importantly, the title and theme of your creation wouldn’t be “One Man Pours Concrete” because no man is placing and finishing 8 yards of concrete by himself all at once.
    You have shown and proven that anyone willing to work hard, develop a reasonable plan, assess past results to improve processes, and consistently execute can achieve just about anything.
    Next series, may I suggest you title “Two People Pour Concrete” and find a hot brunette with a tool belt as the second person. Maybe Miriam Johnson would be willing to do your intro. 😂 Man I’m just kidding, but your views and subscribers would go through the roof. ✌️

    You’re doing good mate. Be good to see you when it’s all finished. When I did a shed slab. The temperature was very hot when the concrete was hard enough. I put some two by fours on each end of the slab and sat some corrugated iron on top and watered under it a few times a day for about a week that gave it, 4 inches of airway but stopped that direct sun 👍

    Looking great. I don't know where you are, but here in Annapolis, MD it was also hot and humid. I moved a couple tons of gravel by hand from my driveway to my back yard (it's going under the deck I'm building). Wish I would have started building this deck earlier in the year.

    Love your vids. Do you have an idea how to not be able to see the stone in the finish on the top? I want to do a walk way around the house like the way you do it, want to broom it, but I’m in doubt how I can make sure the stones are not shown 😊

    • @jeffdeshong
      @jeffdeshong  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@mrkPlantTrees thank you! So basically me going back and forth with that straight edge is what pushes a lot of the rock down. My straight edge is magnesium, so you can pretty much finish it with just using it. But hitting it with a float of some kind will bring the cream to the top so you can finish it how you like. Just a query and I am not sure if someone has already mentioned this.
    Is it not more efficient (and less strain on your body) to mix and pour the concrete within the slab location so you do not have to use the wheel barrow?

    • @jeffdeshong
      @jeffdeshong  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      With this type of mixer, no. Thanks for watching

      @JohnSmith-hr3gv 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jeffdeshong Why is your reasoning?

    • @jeffdeshong
      @jeffdeshong  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@JohnSmith-hr3gv I did my shed slab that way. About the same amount of concrete but it took 5 hours. The problem is you have to constantly move the mixer, usually moving it away from your materials. Mixer is heavy and awkward to move. Aswell as still having to get the concrete where you want it, with a shovel or rake. Not to mention it’s just awkward to work that way when you’re ontop of wire mesh and rebar. I’ve done it with other style mixers with good results but this one is really designed to be used with a wheelbarrow. Hooking up a shoot and placing it right out of the form would be a good alternative. Thanks for watching.
