    I cannot thank you enough for this upload. Even the "Rag March"'s title was unknown to me for so long, a source of sadness and frustration as this incongruous track helped make Fall Out the masterpiece it was. It's stuck with me for the many decades since I first watched The Prisoner. THANK YOU.

      Hi, benchilada -- Thank you. That's extremely kind of you to say! The cut has appeared in several compilations over the years -- though, to my knowledge, never in stereo. So I'm gratified to be able to share it with others this way ... 55 years after the fact(!) ... though presumably better late than never. :) And I agree that the music in Fall Out (and the rest of the series) is one of many elements that made it a classic. 🕵 Again, thanks so much for your very kind words. 🙏

      Hi, Katherine -- That's all extremely kind of you to say. You made my day! I should point out that, in this case, they're not actually my creations, but cuts from a commercial production music library (used in "The Prisoner"). The original form of that music (i.e., stereo) seemed to have gotten lost over the years. And so I'm very happy to have found them, 50+ years later, and be able to share those with really nice people like you. ☺ Again, thank you so much.

    Great stuff. There is repeated concern expressed about whether the show will live up to its predecessor. And that's how it should be: a sequel series to a still beloved show 20 years later SHOULD hope to be as good and as loved. Instead of today, where SOP is the latest sequel to wtf ever is supposed to be just accepted as brilliant and beloved and if not, well, there's just something wrong with the fans. I also think if you watch the show, it's clear that there was an immense amount of effort producing it, far higher than a typical show now. The closest I get that feeling now for a sequel series is Cobra Kai. That said, in that point, I do understand the tv landscape has changed a whole lot in the intervening years. Though TNG was syndicated, it still had as handsome a budget as any prime time hour drama of the day.

    • @media-ron

      Hi, @peterrock4733 -- Good observation. This is the full Electronic Press Kit, which was sent to many TV stations across the country. It was never distributed to viewers as you see it here. The intent was to drum up press coverage, by providing footage and pre-packaged stories for those TV stations to include in their own programming (e.g., newscasts, entertainment shows, etc). The pieces were configured so the narrator you hear could be readily replaced with the voice of the local talent/reporter instead. So it's actually possible you did see some of this, in that form -- just not as presented here, or in its entirety. Having run across this tape recently (for the first time in 35 years!), I thought it was a great little time capsule -- from a time when no one knew that the show would become the classic that it did. 🖖😀

They showed Geordi's visor in someone's hand as they explained the hair barrette thing. (and maybe how they constructed the phaser out of common household items). 2. They explained that they always shot the enterprise model scenes upside down to make it look more realistic when in flight. (In the documentary here, it seems to show them filming it sideways?).

    • @media-ron
      @media-ron 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The VHS Decode project (if that's it) I'm guessing is a way to reconstruct a component video signal from composite and pseudo-component (luma/chroma-style) formats. I'm not sure that'd help, in this case, given the particular signal flow involved, which resulted in a component recording (Betacam SP). So, no, it's not sourced from VHS. That does look like an interesting project, though: github.com/oyvindln/vhs-decode Thanks for the idea.

    • @bearb1asting
      @bearb1asting 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @media-ron yes. Vhs decode taps rf directly off the head output of any source tape, and records the resultant RF through an SDR. Software then reconstructs the video, audio, and CC information. If you want to be connected with those folks, just reply and let me know.

And the D's exterior looked... odd ;) Heh, I was 17 and I would say the general mood of fans like me was "please don't suck... please don't suck..." We WANTED it to be good but sequel TV in those days almost never worked. It should be remembered what TNG pulled off was unprecedented. A sequel series to one of the most iconic series ever, and managing to become an icon itself.
