Risk of Rain 2 has 158,401 positive reviews on Steam and here's why
Game was undercooked and it shows. As you said, the rough edges of the game are apparent and visible to anyone who played it, as it's obvious Capcom just cut the development midday and called it a day to appease to their stakeholders as they launched one week before closing their fiscal year. What hurts the most is that many of the defining features that made the first game incredible were dumbed down or removed, almost as a way to tell the team had no time to implement things the way they wanted. More infuriating is seeing mechanics in DD2 like camping and layered armor being present in Monster Hunter Wilds but more in-depth. It truly hits home the feeling Capcom used DD2 as a tech demo for future games, especially Monster Hunter Wilds. The only hope I have for the franchise'future is the statement of Capcom seeing DD as a key IP moving forward, which could mean a great expansion for DD2 or a better developed DD3 at some point.
Yeah, removal of layered armor really sucks, running around showing enemies not only my ugly face but naked ass was disrepsepctful to goblins that at least had something. Agree with everthing you said, let's hope for a dlc or the next game. After all, Hideaki Itsuno was not only one who was working on the DD series, Kento Kinoshita was responsible for Dark Arisen and DD Online as well and from the feedback I've seen DD online was quite good and I personally loved Dark Arisen.
Looks like Zigotons enslaving Patapons by forcing them to cook
@@Z2Hades ahaha I guess so
Yeah, after so many years of playing the first game, i was looking forward to DD2 when it came out. I had fun, but i have to say that i was quite disappointed with the game after beating it. It really does feel like the game is unfinished. And i don't think that splitting up the vocations was a good idea because they feel so barebones now. I don't like how they handled fast travel and i don't like that they took away the full modular armor system from the first game. The story wasn't as interesting as the first game and nor was the beastren. I got a feeling that the real reason itsuno left the company is because DD2 not selling well enough, capcom's expectations or he got fed up with being with capcom.
Agree on everything you said, armor system was one more thing that made me sad, no more fashion dogma :( I think with Itsuno it might be both, I mean he’s a creator and he wants to realise his potential but if he’s constantly limited it doesn’t contribute to his self-fulfillment and he’s not getting younger!
@@BillBounce Yeah, i agree 100%.
It is a strange feeling game. It’s like so detailed and fun, but it also feels like it needed another 6 months. The minute to minute gameplay, I enjoy, like a lot. But something feels off. I think it’s one of those games where if you like it, you really like, or if you don’t, then you’re probably just going to play something else. Or at the very least never play it again. I genuinely enjoy it though. Though, enemy variety, I don’t think anyone can excuse after 50 hours of goblins and wolves.
Yeah, it’s a polarising game for sure
Dd2 always had potential that it never reach
As well as DD1…
For any capcom higher ups that might see this video, PLEASE TAKE NOTES OF WHAT HE SAYS AND THE COMMENTS Also, add more cinematic cutscenes, i enjoyed these thoroughley
@@Yuuhenshin I wish. I bet they don’t know English 😅 Otherwise they would’ve implemented what fans have been begging for years
Still mad AF that the alchemist was low-balled for mf Incense burner
YES! They replaced that badass monster pussy destroyer monk to a Fking cancerous vaper look-alike
damn, what a waste! EVERYBODY was asking for a monk-like class in DD, then they added this Trickster! Imagine my face when I thought they pranked us with that trickster in trailers, hiding secret vocations in game, and then when I found out there is nothing new left, thus they showed everything in promo materials, I lost my shit!
Story, bad, enemy variety bad...still got 600 hours out of me though. Go figure.
ahah then it was enough to bring you joy, that's what really matters
Why was the story and characters so ABYSMAL
I'm asking this question myself 🤔
@@Gems56 look, try to understand me as well, calling me a hater doesn't change the fact that some ideas from the game are weak. Also, I said it in the video, I hope for the better future of the franchise, so maybe negative attention is also beneficial for both sides. Developers collect all feedback not for nothing but to imporve things, I completed their survey on their website about the game after all, and It wasn't about how much I hate this game, vice versa I wrote about things I liked and things they can improve, so who knows your love to the game and my criticisim can help them in future development of DLCs or the next installment
DD2 was supposed to be amazing, it was supposed to be the open-world RPG game Itsuno envisioned. But Capcom had to ruin it, they *had* to fucking ruin it. I say DD2 is supposed to be amazing because I played DDO or Dragon's Dogma Online. It had amazing gameplay, amazing story and while the world seem small in comparison to DD2, it was still much more interesting. Hell, even the enemy variety is plentiful. Classes are much more fleshed out and fun to use. Fuck man, I'm just SO PISSED that Capcom ruined this game. Now that Itsuno is out, I hope he can give us the game he always wanted to make.
My thoughts exactly! I'm reading Blood, Sweat and Pixels now and they give quite interesing explanations why games don't turn out as they were intended sometimes, so I don't want to blame anybody as I said, probably they had their reasons... Actually, I feel that Devil May Cry 5 also suffered from a lack creative ideas or budget, I mean the game feels lackluster at times. I couldn't play DDO but I watch a lot of videos about its fun collabs, imporved classes, new monsters and so on, and while playing DD2 I couldn't help thinking why didn't they realise it (just blatant copy would be enough for me honestly) in DD2. As you said I also have high hopes for Itsuno's own project and I want to believe he has needed budgets for something epic to show Capcom what they could've had.
@@BillBounce You can play it on PC albeit, it would require some setups. I recommend you watch some videos on how to download and play it
@@sammyboi8938 I've seen it from the Rift channel and after I'm done with Onimusha video which I'm doing now, I'll give it a try!
@@Gems56 it's great that you liked it, I said it at the end of the video, that I hope there are gamers who enjoyed it, I really do, and these gamers will promote it in a positive light 🙂
@@Gems56 I never said I didn't liked DD2. For all its faults, I liked the game but it just wasn't up to what it could've been thanks to Capcom. DD2 is a good game, but it is a deeply flawed one much like the first but unlike the first, DD2 just feels like it's missing many things. If we could have a DLC, my opinion might change but that is unlikely especially now that Itsuno left
A sequel thats worse than the first in almost every way, how can it not be dissapointing
@@cykablyat3680 I don’t know, they had a great foundation for success in Dragon’s Dogma 1. Had they brought back all monsters and vocations from the fist game and built upon it, it would be a great part of content, filling the game, I believe they didn’t have both budget and time for all of that. Even Dragon’s Dogma Online had new vocations and new monsters, Sphinx was first introduced back there
@BillBounce yeah, a lot cut content from the first game, and they dint add anything new to replace it with, but for me the worst thing was that the lack fo enemy variety, in the first hours of the game you fight goblins, a few humans, harpies and lizzards and thats basically it (in therms of small enemy encounters) and they reskinned the same enemies in the rest of the zones, the epic big monster fight are few and far between, and fighting goblins and harpies get very old very fast
@@cykablyat3680 Yes! In the game where the most part of the gameplay is traveling and fighting repetitiveness kills all the fun.
Fantastic video, haven't found another so in depth as to why this game is just so disappointing. We waited over a decade for a lesser version. Double thanks for going over the endings. I never reached most of them. Some closure was nice.
@@samuelreinhold2464 thank you for appreciation! I forgot to mention a few entries to caves which are sealed off from going inside, it is believed they are cut content to introduce dwarves to the game, some people think they are for DLCs
I really loved dragons dogma 2 especially my pawn. They were entirely my favorite part but i feel like they definitely sold when it came to classes. They look good but are so restricted. It angers me. I definitely think if they drop a dlc it will be everything to make it up
as long as i was in combat or exploring the world the game was 10/10. if i was talking to an npc or doing anything story wise it was a 3/10
@@brentsteven4944 yeah! Exploring the world is mesmerising and kept me hooked for 60 hours straight, the best aspect of the game imo
@@brentsteven4944 i wouldn't say 10/10 but i did have a lot of fun exploring and fighting. Yes the npcs and anything story related was so so bad, idk how they managed to make it this boring
@@Gems56 i wouldn't call it hate, more like disappointment. The game had good things going for it, but it couldn't been so so much better

Your video was very entertaining! I don't wanna know how much work it was integrating memes for 43 minutes straight! You've earned my sub!
ahaha thank you! yeah it took me about two weeks
I genuinely enjoyed DD2 and had a ton of fun going off grid and finding all the little secrets, getting my ass handed to me by mobs way higher level and then the spectacle of the unmoored world just hit me like an old Zelda game. I collected every coin over 3 playthroughs and maxed out pretty much everything. Despite all it's flaws, some of which, like the awkward camera, can be modded, it just got me good. I seriously hope that Capcom give the devs what they need so we can have an expansion on Dark Arisens level and continue to develop it into something truly amazing, maybe with a DD3.
@@Sweggabeg that’s amazing that you enjoyed the game so much! I hope there are more players who had a lot of fun with the game than players like me because the franchise will keep living! That’s what I really wish at the end of the day, I want to see more games like Dragon’s Dogma and I hope Capcom will notice that one day…
@@BillBounce Same! I preordered the game, and knowing the first one. I enjoyed and expected some level of jank. In the end despite how largely flawed the game was, I genuinely enjoyed it too. There's nothing quite like the Dragon Dogma games even as I play other rpgs. So the experience I had with it felt unique to the game alone. Sides I got a friend to help me sculpt my perfect Arisen and Pawn which really helped Immerse me more than I would otherwise.

I liked dd2 but the story is so bad even worse than the first game which was already a terrible story
@@emrahsuvic2007 ahaha the best description, that’s what I needed to say 😅 but I like mostly everything about DD1, for its time it was decent
Dd1 is a game that was really difficult to get through. I found the combat to be unfun, the art direction really wasnt my thing and the story bored me to tears. But a friend urged me to keep going and the last few hours made it worth it. When that same friend hated DD2, my motivation to play it is non existant.
I'm glad to hear that eventually you gave DD1 a chance, unfortunately, the second game, even without comparison with the first one, as a stand-alone game is not entirely a spectacular experience...
@@BillBounce That sucks. And it wasn't that good of a tech demo either cause it really started to show the limitations of RE engine, and cause concerns for MH wilds, which didn't have the greatest performance in the beta.
Baldurs gate 3 ruined alot of games for me.. now i expect games to be either on the same level of success as baldurs gate 3 or better.
@@immortalmusic5648 Dragon’s Dogma 2 ruined itself, Calcom didn’t need anybody for that. Sadly, they literally repeated the same way as they did for the first game. Baldur’s Gate 3 is excellent no doubt!
@@BillBounceyeah bud before you go spreading lies and running your mouth about a company learn how to spell it first dd2 was a success it was made a priority ip after dd2 sold well do you not realize you made a entire video appealing to the ppl who choose to only see the negatives of the sequel it's literally better then dd1 in most ways if you were in touch with the actual dogma community you'd realize this but instead your farming views off negative ppl you literally titled the video a lie dd2 is not a tech demo that was a rumor spreaded by haters.
@@Gems56 I hope they will stick to their agenda
BG3 is not that great, and can't be directly compared to a game like Dragon's Dogma. DA: O or Witcher 3 would be a better comparison for an RPG. But DD is more about action, exploration, atmosphere, lore.. not about lengthy dialogues and huge amounts of fancy writing and actor work.
@@Gems56 man, it’s pointless to try to explain you anything especially when you’re deleting your comments

DD2 is the most disappointing game of all time for me. If DD2 had gotten 1/100th of the love that Monster Hunter and RE get, it would've been GOTY. I've never played a game that had so much unrealized potential. It's infuriating to me.
@@YeOldeMachina Truer words have never been said. I think somebody inside Capcom doesn’t believe in Dragon’s Dogma franchise as much as somebody in Warner Bros. believes in Suicide Squad success.
